Battlfield 2042 can indeed be fun if you get into the game. The quite fast movement is fluid and complements the intuitive and very easy gunplay. It is quite entertaining to slide into groups of enemies thoughtlessly and to look for one fight after another.
However, the matchmaking must be clearly criticized. We were thrown into a lobby far too often with and against significantly worse players.
As I wrote in an article back in August, it was quite funny for us, because we easily overwhelmed our opponents, but there should simply not be such a big skill difference in a match. I can’t imagine that it is fun for a casual gamer to have to play against players with significantly more playtime who wipe the floor with you.
There was a point during the year when I would have probably given Battlefield 2042 a plus point for performance – but that is currently not possible.
I have the feeling that the performance of the shooter is better than it was at release, but it is still not good – at least according to my personal gaming experience. I play on PC and know that my CPU is my bottleneck. Nevertheless, it should be possible to play the game without 90% CPU usage or more.
I mean, the game runs smoothly and I have solid FPS, but I didn’t intend to fry my processor. So I looked around in various forums and discovered that this is a known issue.
After some research, I also found a way to lower CPU usage. Long story short: Battlefield 2042 or the engine used did not utilize all cores of my processor, which I was able to change with a Windows script.
Then I played several weeks of Battlefield 2042 with acceptable CPU usage and unchanged FPS until an update for the shooter was released. After the update, my trick no longer worked and my CPU usage shot back up to over 90%. That was the moment when I uninstalled Battlefield 2042 again.
Since we usually play everything together in our group of friends, the short-lived Battlefield enthusiasm in our group stopped, and we returned to other games.

What the trailer promises for the fourth part of this series is the exploration and conquest of the overworld. And thus the possibility to really show the good who is in charge.
The Phantom Thieves end up in an unknown realm after a strange incident, where a tyrant rules over its inhabitants. Soon, the protagonist Joker, along with his friends, is surrounded by the military group “Legionnaires”.
They are in grave danger when the mysterious Erina comes to their aid. In return, the unknown makes the Phantom Thieves an enticing offer.

What to expect: The Thaumaturge is a plot-driven role-playing game with strategic and turn-based combat. Make morally difficult decisions in the game that influence the course and use the protagonist’s special abilities to assert yourself in battle.
Wiktor has the ability, like the rest of his family, to perceive, influence, and thus control the moods of people. To do this, he sees the Salutors – demons that feed on the weaknesses of humans. For them, Warsaw in 1905, due to many conflicts and crimes, is a feast.
However, Wiktor Szulski can also tame these demons and use them to his advantage in battle.
With Counter-Strike 2, an old shooter has launched in new clothing. Now Valve warns against using a certain feature and threatens with a VAC ban.
Valve is currently explicitly warning: If you activate a certain function, you will be punished with a hard VAC ban. And that means you won’t be able to play any games on Steam that rely on VAC protection, and there are numerous popular multiplayer titles.
At least there is some good news. Because under certain circumstances, the ban will be lifted.
Currently, this only affects owners of an AMD graphics card. Owners of an Nvidia graphics card with a similar feature are not supposed to be affected.

Use of Anti-Lag+ leads to VAC ban
Valve itself writes:
AMD’s latest driver has made the “Anti-Lag/+” feature available for CS2, implemented by redirecting functions of the engine-dll. If you are an AMD customer and playing CS2, DO NOT activate ANTI-LAG/+; any manipulation of the CS code will lead to a VAC ban. As soon as AMD releases an update.
What is it all about? AMD’s Anti-Lag and Nvidia’s Reflex aim to reduce latency in games. Latency is simply the time it takes for your mouse click to display on the screen. Peripherals, built hardware, and even your monitor affect latency time.
What is now the problem? Anti-Lag initially only adjusts the CPU frequency of the GPU speed to avoid too many graphic processes from getting stuck in the queue.
However, Anti-Lag+ goes a step further, as adjustments are applied to the game code itself according to AMD. And this is exactly what bothers Valve. Because changes to the game code are not allowed and will be punished. Cheat programs do that too.
Who is affected by this? Currently, you can only use Anti-Lag+ with Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. If you are playing with a new AMD graphics card, you should either uninstall the latest update or disable Anti-Lag+ in the settings.
What happens if I have been banned? If you have already been banned due to Anti-Lag+, Valve will lift the bans as soon as the driver issue is resolved. This is quite unusual, as VAC bans are normally not lifted.
A player has now been banned from Counter-Strike and Steam for other reasons. But Valve was gracious and lifted the ban:
IShowSpeed causes one scandal after another and has become one of the most successful streamers worldwide. However, only on YouTube, as Twitch seemingly banned him permanently in 2021. Now the ban on the rude streamer has been surprisingly lifted.
What kind of streamer is he? The 18-year-old Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins is known for his hyperactive personality. He regularly creates scandals. On YouTube, he gained increasing popularity in 2021. However, in December of the same year, he was indefinitely banned from Twitch.
However, this “permaban” did not stop him from drawing attention on YouTube with further escapades:
Recently, things calmed down a bit for the now 18-year-old after he was admitted to the hospital in the summer for severe headaches and facial swelling, and shortly thereafter accidentally exposed himself during a stream.
Despite all the scandals – or perhaps precisely because of them – IShowSpeed has continuously gained popularity in the years since his Twitch ban and was the biggest streamer on YouTube in 2022. Now his Twitch ban has been quietly lifted.

Twitch lifts IShowSpeed’s ban, but he still streams on YouTube
What is the story behind the unbanning? After almost 2 years, the unbanning of the scandal streamer went rather unspectacularly: The channel is simply available again and currently stands at 241,000 followers (as of: 13.10.2023).
The unbanning did not come out of nowhere: Dan Clancy, the CEO of Twitch, had already acknowledged in September the possibility of giving banned streamers a second chance. The reason why this particular streamer was chosen at this time is not known.
It is also unclear whether IShowSpeed intends to return to Twitch. So far, he has not taken advantage of his newfound freedom. On YouTube, over 20 million people follow him, a considerable reach. He likely wouldn’t want to jeopardize that lightly with a platform change.
Even though IShowSpeed’s unbanning was rather uneventful, it opens up exciting possibilities. After all, there are still other candidates who have been banned from Twitch for years and may now hope for unbanning.
