The developers of Battlefield 6 have presented the plans for the year 2026 and shown: The roadmap has a lot to offer!
Battlefield 6 presented the roadmap for the year 2026 on April 16, 2026. Throughout the year, 7 new maps and Naval Warfare will be introduced. A major focus will also be on old maps that are popular with long-time Battlefield fans and are now set to find their way to Battlefield 6.
Additionally, some new features will be added, including leaderboards, a proximity chat, a spectator mode, and a server browser. Furthermore, the existing BF6 maps “New Sobek” and “Blackwell Oil Fields” will receive a rework.
Roadmap for Battlefield 6 shows: More classics for veterans
What to expect in Season 3: In Season 3 of Battlefield 6, alongside new weapons and game modes, two classic Battlefield maps will be rebooted:
- Golmud Railway (Battlefield 4)
- Grand Bazaar (Battlefield 3)
Both maps will not simply return in their old form but will be given a new look upon their introduction in Battlefield 6.
“Golmud Railway” now takes place in Tajikistan, just like “Liberation Peak” and “Mirak Valley.” Additionally, the map has received a few adjustments to offer more settings for both close-quarters and long-range combat. “Grand Bazaar” is now the “Cairo Bazaar” and will take place in the Egyptian capital, just like “Siege of Cairo.” The visuals of the maps as well as the audio design have been adapted to Battlefield 6.
Moreover, Battlefield REDSEC will receive a solo mode in Season 3. A ranked mode will also be introduced, which will initially kick off in Battle Royale. In the future, there will also be a ranked mode for the standard multiplayer of Battlefield 6.

What to expect in Season 4: In Season 4, Battlefield 6 will open its gates for aircraft carriers and allow you to battle with naval vessels for the first time. Specifically, this means: Battlefield 6 will finally feature naval warfare.
In Season 4, you will also receive 2 new maps, once again featuring a classic:
- Wake Island
- Tsuru Reef
Wake Island will also receive a new look, suitable for Battlefield 6, but will still offer large-scale sea and air battles. The same applies to the completely new map “Tsuru Reef,” which takes place in the Pacific and is said to be the largest map of Battlefield 6 so far.
Additionally, in Season 4, alongside new weapons and game modes, custom lobbies and a spectator mode will be introduced.
EA confirms server browser
What else to expect: The developers have also presented some features that have high priority but do not yet have a concrete release timeframe.
These include a proximity chat, platoons, leaderboards for multiplayer, and a server browser with persistent servers and better options for hosting and finding preferred maps and modes. Additionally, some “Quality of Life” improvements are planned, including better visibility of soldiers, improvements to matchmaking, and to the challenges and progression system.
In Season 5, moreover, 3 additional maps will follow. However, the developers have not yet disclosed detailed information about the maps or other contents of the season.
With Golmud Railway, Grand Bazaar, and Wake Island, Battlefield 6 is set to feature three classics as new maps this year, fulfilling a major wish for many fans. We already spoke to Philipp Girette, Producer at DICE, about the topic of maps at the launch of Season 2 and Phil told us in the interview why it is not as easy to bring back old maps as many players think.
