In GTA 6 you will explore the big city of Vice City, but there are more interesting places to discover. Here you will learn everything that is already known about the map.
What do we know about the map? The main setting of GTA 6 is Vice City. This is a large city in the fictional U.S. state of Leonida. We also know that there will be other places outside of Vice City that you can travel to.
On May 6, 2025, Rockstar Games shared descriptions of the following regions of the map:
- Leonida Keys
- Grassrivers
- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia
- Mount Kalaga National Park
Is there an image of the map that you can look at?
No, there is currently no official image of the GTA 6 map. However, there are some fan projects that have taken on the task of constructing the map in advance based on current information. These projects create images showing what the map might look like. You can find a collection of these fan projects on VIMAP.
This is Vice City
This is what we know about the city: Vice City is a sunny metropolis in the U.S. state of Leonida, which is based on Florida. Vice City is inspired by the real metropolis of Miami and is already known to GTA fans from the games “Vice City” and “Vice City: Stories”.
Vice City is characterized by a tropical climate. It is usually very warm in the city, though this is occasionally interrupted by storms. Like Los Santos, the setting of GTA 5, Vice City will also have a large sandy beach.
These are the Leonida Keys
The Leonida Keys are a series of islands that border the state of Leonida and are connected by bridges via a highway. The Leonida Keys are likely modeled after the Florida Keys.
This is what Rockstar says about the Keys: Life on this tropical peninsula may not be glamorous, but it is relaxed. Treat yourself to a few beers and make yourself comfortable in your lounge chair, but be careful – you are very close to some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.
These are the Grassrivers
The Grassrivers are a region outside of Vice City representing a swampy marshland with alligators and have already been seen in the first trailers for GTA 6. They are likely modeled after the Everglades, located outside Miami in Florida.
This is what Rockstar says about the Grassrivers: You can never know what lurks beneath the surface of these untouched expanses. Alligators may be the most famous tourist attraction, but far deadlier predators and disturbing discoveries await in the mangrove forests.
This is Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is likely a smaller town outside of Vice City. Fans are already guessing which city Port Gellhorn might be based on. One user on Reddit made an interesting conclusion: Port Gellhorn could be based on the city of “Key West” and may be named after journalist Martha Gellhorn. She was married to American writer Ernest Hemingway from 1940 to 1945, whom she met in Key West (via jfklibrary).
This is what Rockstar says about Port Gellhorn: Cheap motels, closed attractions, and empty shopping malls may not attract tourists back, but now another economy is booming in this once-popular vacation spot – powered by booze, painkillers, and gas station energy drinks. Hop on a dirt bike and hold on to your wallet.
This is Ambrosia
Ambrosia is a small industrial town that can be visited as a suburb of Vice City. It could be based on the city of “St. Augustine,” located in the southeastern part of Florida. St. Augustine is named after the Christian saint “Augustine of Hippo” (via citystaug), who returned to Christianity through Ambrose of Milan and was subsequently baptized. Thus, Ambrose could replace Augustine in the naming of the city as both share a direct connection.
This is what Rockstar says about Ambrosia: At the heart of Leonida, American industry and traditional values come before everything else – no matter the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar factory provides jobs and the local biker gang takes care of almost everything else.
Mount Kalaga
Mount Kalaga is a mountain in Leonida found in the national park of the same name. In addition to rednecks on off-road vehicles and hunters, you will find everything nature has to offer in Leonida. The trailers showcased rushing rivers, forests, and wildlife such as deer.
This is what Rockstar says about Mount Kalaga National Park: Mount Kalaga is a national landmark near the northern border of the state and is perfect for hunting, fishing, or hiking. In the lush forests of the hinterlands, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the critical gaze of the government.
Vice City will again be complemented by additional locations outside the city, just like Los Santos in GTA V. In the predecessor, there was, for example, the desert town of Sandy Shores, the mountain Mount Chiliad with the surrounding Paleto Forest, as well as the small town of Paleto Bay bordering the forest.
To ensure that you can properly admire the exciting places that GTA 6 has to offer, Rockstar Games has put special effort into the graphics – at least that’s what the second trailer promises. This is causing quite a stir: The new trailer for GTA 6 sparks debate about the graphics: ‘If only half of these details make it into the final game’
