What helicopters are there in GTA Online? You will find a wide selection of helicopters in and around Los Santos. The selection ranges from light vehicles used for transport to heavily armed helicopters with machine guns and guided missiles.
Why do you need fast helicopters? You can use them for racing, completing missions, or having fun in the open world. Especially for heist preparation missions, armed helicopters are a great help.
List of the fastest helicopters in GTA Online – Status: 2024
This is how it is sorted: In this overview, we show you two tables.

We make this distinction for the different usage scenarios of the helicopters. In races, lap time is often more important than top speed.
The data comes from YouTuber Broughy1322, who has made it his mission to thoroughly test all vehicles and aircraft (via YouTube.com). When it comes to top speeds, he calculates the speed over a longer period, not just the peak during a boost. We use his analysis for our tables.
Note: The speedometers and cockpit instruments in GTA Online are generally not very reliable. The numbers from Broughy represent the “real” speed of the helicopters. It’s quite possible that GTA Online displays different values for speed at times. However, this does not change the rankings.
It should be noted that there are many variables when it comes to top speed in GTA Online, which could lead to different (and higher) top speeds. Furthermore, the in-game speedometer and other forms of speed measurement either do not work or are at least inaccurate (Example on YouTube). Therefore, when comparing this with your own observations, you are likely to get incorrect results.

What’s special: Despite its impressive top speed, the Sparrow cannot keep up when it comes to lap times. Instead, even the heavy attack helicopter FH-1 Hunter makes it into the top 10.
What makes the fastest helicopters so good?

Akula

What makes the Akula special: The Akula is a fast, agile helicopter. Its maneuverability is comparable to the agile FH-1 Hunter. Among the special features of the helicopter are a thermal camera and a night vision camera. The weapons include miniguns, which fire slower than those of the Buzzard but have a higher range.
If desired, you can also equip the Akula with missiles but then you have to forgo the minigun. There is also the option to equip bombs that can be activated in various modes. Good against ground targets.
Sparrow
- Cost: 1,815,000 GTA dollars
- Dealer: At Warstock Cache & Carry as an upgrade of the Kosatka submarine
What makes the Sparrow special: The Sparrow is a sort of “must-have” from the Cayo Perico DLC. After purchasing, you can request it via the interaction menu as a special vehicle of the Kosatka directly near you. This makes the Sparrow ideal for missions to get from A to B quickly.
You can equip it with a minigun or missiles, which target enemies if you want. The good thing about the missiles is the high rate of fire.
The Sparrow is among my most important GTA Online purchases so far.
Swift Deluxe
- Cost: 5,150,000 GTA dollars
- Dealer: Elitas Travel
What makes the Swift Deluxe special: Visually, the Swift Deluxe is another version of the Swift, just gold-plated. The interior features a TV and a coffee machine. However, you cannot customize the exterior of the helicopter – gold with black stripes is fixed.
You cannot equip the helicopter with weapons. It is simply fast and expensive. Just right to show off to other players.
