The maximum level in Borderlands 4 at release is 50. Achieving that is a mid-term goal for many players. We will show you how to achieve that as quickly as possible on MeinMMO.
Why should you level up effectively? There are various reasons why it can be beneficial to reach the maximum level as effectively as possible.
- Every level grants a skill point. To get the most out of your vault hunter and to play a complete build, you must therefore reach level 50 and invest every skill point.
- For particularly challenging endgame content, it may be essential to have a completed build at level 50.
- New weapons drop at your current level. As you continue to level up, they will eventually become useless as they simply deal too little damage.
- This also applies to legendary weapons that you receive through golden keys or similar from SHiFT Codes. Ideally, you have legendary weapons at max level.
Since you need to level up each vault hunter from level 30 to 50 independently, it can be appealing to proceed as effectively as possible, especially with your 3rd or 4th character.
Leveling Up Quickly in Borderlands 4 – How to Farm XP
The grind to level 30: To get a vault hunter to level 30, you only need to complete the main story. Most of you will probably do that anyway. By the end of the campaign, you should be around 30.
You can reach level 30 before finishing the story using other activities, but you can theoretically save completing side missions and farming open-world events.
How to level up quickly to level 50: In the open world of Borderlands 4, there is now an activity called “Ripper Drilling Site,” where you need to stop an elite team of Rippers.
At the “Ripper Drilling Site,” a number of differently strong enemies spawn that you must send to the afterlife. These enemies also include mini-bosses, whose defeat concludes the activity.
If you successfully complete a “Ripper Drilling Site,” you can expect about 12,000 XP, which you can earn in a maximum of 10 minutes. Additionally, the bosses drop a small amount of loot.

What makes the Ripper Drilling Sites so good for XP farming? You can repeat the “Ripper Drilling Sites” as often as you like. At the entrance to the drilling site, you will find a machine from Moxxy, with which you can restart the activity for a small fee. This makes it better suited for XP farming than certain open-world events, which although yield more XP, are only available at specific times.
Additionally, the activity is really quick to complete. With the right build, you can finish a “Ripper Drilling Site” in 1–3 minutes. You will probably rarely need more than 10–12 minutes to complete it.
Are there alternatives? Yes, you can also repeat certain boss fights instead of the drilling site using Moxxy’s machines. You will earn experience points and loot every time you take down such an enemy.
For the boss fight against Idolator Sol, which we showcased in a preview before the release of Borderlands 4 on MeinMMO, it takes us about 10 minutes. This may take slightly longer than the drilling site, but it adds variety to the level grind.
