With the upcoming update for Albion Online, the so-called ‘Albion Journal’ will arrive on the servers. This feature includes a new achievement system designed to guide newcomers and provide veterans with fresh incentives for the toughest challenges.
What is behind the Albion Journal? The achievement system is referred to by the developers as a core feature and the centerpiece of the upcoming update “Paths to Glory”. With the implementation of the journal, newcomers will be guided through the various content of the MMORPG.
Veterans, on the other hand, will receive fresh incentives to try previously ignored activities or to take on the toughest challenges of the online adventure. This moves Albion Online further away from the sandbox approach to increase accessibility and make content more rewarding.
How does the Albion Journal work?
- You gain access to the journal once you have completed the tutorial. Those who have already mastered the tutorial can access achievements after the update is released.
- The journal contains missions categorized by different types such as PvE, gathering, economy, or PvP.
- The journal displays open and completed missions. A mission tracker shows the current progress of missions.
- The first missions in a category provide an introduction to the respective gameplay area. After that, the tasks gradually become more challenging.
- Cool: Even if the missions are unlocked gradually, everything you do in the game counts towards missions that are not yet available.
- By completing missions, you earn rewards such as silver, tomes of insight, dungeon maps, and more.
- If you master a certain percentage of missions in a category, you earn additional rewards such as avatars, avatar rings, clothing items, prestige spells, and mount skins.
- Completing all missions in a category rewards you with the rare elite version of the clothing items.
With this feature, the developers introduce the new tomes of learning. This is a non-tradable item that you can earn through journal missions and which grants you additional learning points.

Paths to Glory is already preparing to launch
What else do I need to know about Paths to Glory? The next update for Albion Online will be released on July 22, 2024, and along with the Albion Journal, it will also bring the following features:
- Improvements to guild islands (guilds can own multiple islands with different biomes)
- Changes to weapons: you can overload weapons twice in combat and use all spells on weapons of level 4 or higher.
- Adjustments for the roads of Avalon: increase the number of raid clusters, standardized mob levels, reduction of resource-gathering areas, increase in PvE areas, and adjusted connections of zones.
- Activity-based spawn rates will be introduced.
- The crystal weapons Twin Butchers (daggers), Horrorstorm Monarch (mace), and Exalted Staff (holy staffs) will debut.
- A new ready-check feature will be introduced.
- The new maps for corrupted dungeons show the entrances to the instances.
- Three new activity events will be introduced.
- There will be improved filtering options for the leaderboard display.
- The fate board will receive an improved zoom function for desktop users.
