In GTA Online, players have little limits. However, many of them have now received a ban that takes away not only fictional gambling but also a cool reward.
Which ban is being discussed? After players in countries like Greece or South Korea have already been affected due to local laws, Australian players are now among those who can visit and own a casino in GTA Online, but cannot use it fully.
Since July 28, 2026, players from Australia can no longer do anything in the Diamond Casino in GTA Online. While no specific reason has been given yet, many associate it with local regulations on online safety and age restrictions, as DarkViper speculated on X: “It is possible that this ban is a preventive measure and that they will introduce a system for age verification that is sufficient to grant adults access at a later time – time will tell.”
However, this has not yet been officially confirmed. The Australian government wants to take measures to protect vulnerable Australians, especially children and young people, from the dangers of online gambling (Source: infrastructure.gov.au).
Players are frustrated, but not just because of a rusty lucky wheel
What else does the ban cause? Along with the ban on gambling, the use of the lucky wheel is also removed, which allowed players to earn various prizes.
One of these prizes includes a vehicle, the “Lost Slamvan”, which was only available to players by spinning this wheel and is thus one of the rarest cars in the game. There has been no other way to obtain it so far.
What does the community say about this? The community is not happy about this decision. This unhappiness stems less from the ban in GTA and much more from the fact that such bans in a fictional world of a video game are problematic, but not adequately addressed in the real world.
“I find it quite ironic that this ban exists in my country as well (and has been for years), while I pass by huge billboards on my way to work inviting people to visit casinos in the local shopping center,” writes HorrorTranslator on Reddit. Schmlif113 also finds: “It’s crazy that you can bet your entire savings using real money through sports betting apps, but you can’t play with fictional currency in an 18+ game.”
