Vermithor, known as the Bronze Fury, has shiny scales like bronze and orange eyes. He was previously the dragon of King Jaehaerys I. Targaryen, who is considered one of the greatest kings of Westeros. Together, they fought in several battles, making Vermithor a battle-hardened dragon.
By the time of House of the Dragon, he is nearly a hundred years old and surpassed in size and age only by Vhagar. For a long time, he lived riderless in a cave on Dragonstone. There, he was finally claimed by a bastard named Hugo Hammer, as we see in the prequel series.
In terms of raw strength, few dragons in the history of Westeros could match Vermithor. In close combat, he would simply physically overwhelm most opponents. His fire is also considered devastating and can wipe out entire armies. Since he is accustomed to and tolerates humans, this makes him the perfect weapon.
