Caraxes is the dragon of Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon. He has blood-red scales and an exceptionally long neck, which is why he is also known as “The Blood Wyrm”. His first rider was Prince Aemon Targaryen, an uncle of Daemon and the then heir to the throne. After Aemon’s death, Daemon took over, and the two became one of the most feared pairs in the history of Westeros.
Just like his rider, Caraxes is extremely temperamental and aggressive. He has a good size but is far from being the most imposing dragon of his time. In battle, he doesn’t care about that. With his special agility and wildness, he can take on physically superior opponents.
Caraxes participated in several wars, thus gaining more combat experience than most dragons. This combination of speed, experience, and aggressiveness makes him an opponent that even the top placements on this list must fear.
