What was the goal of the campaign? The developers wanted to raise at least $150,000 through Kickstarter to realize their game. Experience shows that this is not enough to ensure full development.
However, the fans went significantly further and donated over $1.2 million. In doing so, they unlocked all additional rewards, including an aquarium system, club housing, and more islands to explore.
More goals than up to one million dollars were not even intended by the developers. Nevertheless, the community donated a lot more.
When will the game be released? There is no official release date yet. However, it states on Kickstarter that backers with an alpha key should receive access in 2024, while early access is planned for 2025.
For which platforms will Loftia be released? It is planned for PC (Steam), Mac, and Nintendo Switch. The languages listed are English, German, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese. The developers have set high goals.

What kind of game is Gloria Victis?
The development began in 2012 as a Kickstarter project, the MMORPG then launched in a pre-alpha and was playable on Steam as an early access title for 7 years. However, Gloria Victis never really had a breakthrough during that time.
In February 2023, it finally launched on Steam and reached a peak of 4,175 concurrent players: In recent months, however, only about 400 players were online on average. Just a little more than before the release.
Gloria Victis is a medieval MMORPG that places great value on realism, with open PVP and a complex crafting system. It has 70% positive reviews on Steam. In addition to the MMORPG, there is also a survival game “Siege Survival: Gloria Victis”.

This is what the developers say about the end: The developers say they have worked on the MMORPG for a decade and that it has been a great journey and an important part of their lives: The team has released 370 updates since the game came to Steam in 2016.
But it is incredibly hard to maintain an MMORPG 24/7 with 15 people against “all odds.”
They are ultimately exhausted and could never take the rest they need to keep such a development going. This ultimately leads to burnouts and they can no longer support the game.
After contemplating the situation countless times, they decide “mainly for financial reasons” to shut down the servers on October 31, 2023. The game has always been a niche. The developers say: It is also difficult to expand Gloria Victis without betraying the identity of the game. They would have to spend more and more resources to continue developing the game while maintaining the pace.
Because the MMORPG is so resource-intensive, they do not believe that the community can simply continue it.
What is the community’s reaction? Some are disappointed. One writes that he has spent 3,700 hours in the MMORPG.

Spoiler Alert: This article revolves around a fight in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. You will read spoilers for this act as well as the associated quest line. You have been warned.
Which boss fight is it about? In Act 3, you face the vampire lord Cazador during the companion quest “A Pale Elf.” You have two objectives: defeat Cazador and prevent him from absorbing his seven main spawns. If you fail to do so, you will lose Astarion and Cazador will become the super vampire.
The fight itself is challenging: Cazador wields powerful spells that effectively allow him to dodge physical attacks. He will do everything possible to draw power from the three vampire spawns scattered around the arena. If he succeeds, he will ascend to the vampire lord and you will have lost.
Why shouldn’t you have Astarion in the party for this fight? Since this is an essential part of Astarion’s companion quest, it’s tempting to bring him along. However, this means that you can only fight a particularly challenging battle with just three people:
To become a vampire lord, Cazador needs seven of his subordinates. These are kept captive during the ritual at the edge of the arena. Unfortunately, Astarion is one of them. If you bring him along, he will likely be ripped from the group and cannot assist you in the fight – for the time being.

However, Cazador is such a tough character that he presents a pretty challenging task even with just three people. Of course, you can also defeat him that way.

How can you have Astarion with you but still fight with a full group? Not leaving Astarion at camp makes sense for several reasons: Firstly, you will miss out on many exciting dialogues without him, and secondly, you may miss several endings for him. If you tell him about the fight afterwards, he will be beside himself with anger.
So what can you do? Before the final boss room, where Cazador is waiting for you, it is possible to adjust your party composition. So you can take Astarion up to that point and then leave him at camp. In this case, you will have to tell him what happened for the further companion story later.
Alternatively, you can use the “Dissolve Group” function to leave him waiting before the boss room. This way, you can start the fight without him. Then you switch to him and let him run to your group.
With a full group, each battle becomes easier. Here you see a fairly physical team with Karlach, a ranger Tav, Shadowheart, and Lae’zel. However, against Cazador, you should still bring Gale or Wyll into the field.
If you choose either of these two paths, you will miss the exciting dialogues between Astarion and his master. If you don’t want to miss this, there is still the option to free him during the fight.
To do this, you need to free him from the ritual circle with a “Help” action. However, this means that another one of your characters has to quickly move across the battlefield and past multiple enemies. We recommend a rogue with Disengage or a tank for this. The character should definitely be “hasted.”
