In New World, there are three factions you can join. In the faction, you can accumulate reputation while simultaneously farming tokens. For a long time, these tokens had little use, but they can currently be exchanged for chests that help you level gathering professions like logging faster.
Before the expansion, you should collect many faction tokens. On the one hand, the chests are useful, and you already get Gypsum from them, and on the other hand, the merchants will be expanded with a new tab with Rise of the Angry Earth.
Here you can find purple equipment at gear score 650, legendary equipment at 675, and some useful crafting materials. Additionally, there are bonus talers if you complete the first 3 faction missions of the day.
Level the old professions to 200, but not necessarily higher
With the new expansion, crafting disciplines will be revised. All will be raised from level 200 to 250. This way, you can obtain stronger equipment, new buff food, or even a special XP buff that unlocks at level 205 through music.
This is surprisingly important as it increases the experience for gathering professions like logging or fishing. And those are exactly what you want to quickly improve with the launch.
To be perfectly prepared for Rise of the Angry Earth, you should have all professions already at 200. You can level them beyond 200, but that won’t help you beforehand. Only after you reach level 250 post-release will the bonus levels from before be displayed again.
As the crafting disciplines are increased to 250 with the expansion, you need to have many materials ready for leveling. Especially the lower tiers, i.e., T1 mats, are in high demand again. You can go out and gather fresh wood or iron, just like you did at the release.

The absolutely most expensive card wasn’t even among them: Elsa as an Enchantment is currently traded for over 460 €. Whoever pulls that can easily buy 3 more displays. Or … you know, just keep the money.
Note: Boosters are linked to luck. Lorcana can therefore quickly become costly due to the luck factor. Similar to Pokémon, the game appeals more to young fans. Lorcana is a bit like Magic for kids and is a lot of fun
The reason I spent so much money on Lorcana is mainly because I really enjoy the game. I played a few rounds every day during my vacation at Maik’s, sometimes more than he actually wanted – although he got me into it.
Imagine the game roughly like Magic, but without the overly complex mechanics. Instead of lands and mana, there is ink, and most cards can simply be turned into ink. This significantly simplifies deck building.
There are 6 colors in Lorcana, but you may have a maximum of 2 different ones in a deck. However, this provides enough possibilities to build different decks. Among the archetypes we have already seen or built are:
Aggro decks that overrun the opponent
Midrange decks that focus more on control
Ramp decks that can play particularly strong cards early on
What I like best about Lorcana is that it’s about winning and not about making the opponent lose. This means: instead of bringing the opponent’s life points to 0, I need to collect “Legends” myself. With 20 Legends, I’ve won. The frustration factor is thus significantly lower and table flips become less likely.
Another advantage: there are currently only just over 200 cards. Magic, on the other hand, now has somewhere over 25,000. Anyone wanting to start now has to read and learn cards for weeks. Something that has always spoiled my fun.
In November, the second set for Lorcana will be released, and in spring 2024, there will be a reprint of the first set, so the scalper prices are currently not worth it anyway. Let’s see how much money this game will still take from me.
