Originally, the developers of an MMORPG had something entirely different in mind. They ultimately opted for a mix of Cozy and combat. Now you can play the first demo on Steam.
What kind of game is this? It is the game Soulbound: Online. An MMORPG that takes place in 2 worlds simultaneously: In the overworld, there are quests and adventures to discover, and in the underworld, you can try your hand in dangerous dungeons.
No run is like the other, as it is a roguelite, and you can embark on your adventures either alone or with 2 other friends. Additionally, some cozy elements are included, as you can build your home and a farm.
Starting from July 21, 2026, you can begin Early Access. Unfortunately, there is no release date set for the full version of Soulbound: Online yet. However, the demo on Steam already offers quite a bit of gameplay time, at least for the beginning.
What makes it an MMORPG? In the upper world, you share a space with thousands of players, which serves as a hub. However, you only run the individual instances with 3 people. The title is thus more like an MMORPG in the overworld, while the underworld resembles a co-op roguelite.

What was Soulbound: Online like before? Before Soulbound: Online became the MMORPG it is today, it looked quite different. It was previously called Worldwide Webb and was a blockchain game where players paid with crypto and owned NFTs in the form of characters or land.
However, the game concept came with some problems. For example, the game became pay-to-win: wealthy players could buy more land and thereby took away the opportunities from other players to progress further in the game.
Additionally, Worldwide Webb could only take place in a web browser, as Steam does not allow games that involve trading with NFTs or crypto (source: partner.steamgames.com). This also brought technical issues.
In May 2026, the developers SpiderWare announced that they would not continue Worldwide Webb in this manner.
