Blizzard expands the selection of unique items in Diablo 4 with Season 15 by adding various iconic items from the past. One of these items could lead to very broken builds and immortal characters.
What kind of item is it? Leoric’s Crown originally comes from Diablo 3 and increases the effect of the gems socketed in it. It was especially favored for leveling secondary characters, as gems for more XP in the crown were of course significantly stronger. In the endgame, there were better helm options.
In Diablo 4, it returns as part of Season 15, where Blizzard revitalizes many old items, sometimes with slightly adjusted effects. For example, the crown will increase the effect of gems by 98–130% (according to the current status from the PTR).
At the same time, Blizzard also plans to introduce new gems with special effects, which are extremely powerful but come with painful side effects. One such gem could make you invincible.
New gems will turn Leoric’s Crown into absolute monsters
In the official blog, Blizzard has already introduced the new gems, called: Soul Shards. One of them is the Shard of Pain with the following effects:
- 250–4375 poison resistance (depending on rarity)
- 10–40% damage reduction (also depending on rarity)
- You lose 30% movement speed
The Diablo expert Wudijo has now used this shard in Leoric’s Crown on the PTR and achieved 92% damage reduction (on X) – therefore, he hardly takes damage with this combination. And it gets even more intense.
In the comments, a user refers to the possibility of transmutation in the Horadric Cube. One of the possible effects here is to increase the strength of the gems. According to the post, a damage reduction of 130% is even possible.
Whether this combination will remain in the game or will be nerfed before the release of Season 15 on September 15, 2026, remains to be seen.
