Lord of Hatred has brought a new endgame to Diablo 4. While it is still well received, there is one point that prevents players from trying other classes.
What endgame content is it about? The war plans have accompanied Diablo 4 players since the release of the expansion and are generally well liked by the community. Even MeinMMO editor and Diablo expert Benedict could hardly get away from it at the start.
However, they also have a disadvantage that costs many players their enjoyment of the game: You can only level them per character and not per account. So you have to reskill the skill trees of the war plans for each character every season. Many would spend significantly more time with the current seasons if that weren’t the case.

What does the community say about this? On Reddit, many players are currently exchanging views on how much they would actually like to try other classes but feel that the war plans are holding them back. The grind associated with it would be too extreme, and it would take too long for the war plans to be worthwhile for new characters.
So writes scubamaster in the comments: “I completely skipped the season because the war plans ruin my desire to level secondary characters, which is actually one of my favorite activities.”
Thread creator FeelsAmazingManGun sees it similarly: “I would like to try different characters and builds every season, but the thought of leveling up the war plans for the buffs every time totally demotivates me. In the end, I’m just waiting for the start of the next season.”
“Before the war plans, I usually leveled two characters, now only one. So if I get bored, I’m done. In my opinion, it’s really stupid that the plans don’t apply account-wide,” says RuneDK385, addressing a point that many players wish for.
Many commentators would experiment much more with classes and builds if that wouldn’t always mean completely leveling the war plans again, but rather an experience buff would speed it up, or the content would be leveled account-wide.
