Blizzard had to rectify several issues in Season 14 of Diablo 4. A small but crucial adjustment was initially overlooked in the German patch notes – and now the community rejoices at the return of a “bubble”.
Update: The change has now been included in the German patch notes. We have adjusted text and title.
Which change brings joy?
- With patch 3.1.2, Blizzard fixed a critical bug on July 28, 2026, which affected class balance.
- The description of a recipe in the Horadric Cube was adjusted, so players no longer had to sacrifice their valuable items.
- Besides that, the patch returned the “Immunity Bubble” to the dungeon.
On Reddit, the update quickly became a hot topic. Many players praise the change, but also mock the fact that Blizzard is merely reintroducing a feature that they previously removed.
The relief over the return outweighs the criticism. Without the bubble, remaining enemies or annoying on-death effects, particularly affecting a specific type of build, regularly caused frustration at the end of a dungeon run, as they prevented or disturbed the upgrading of the glyphs in the socket.
How absurd it looks in gameplay is shown in a YouTube clip from Diablo expert wudijo. There, an unstoppable enemy simply prevents him from upgrading his glyphs.
Immunity Bubble Was Not Tailored to an Endgame Feature
Why was the bubble removed? While Blizzard did not officially reveal why the bubble was removed, the English patch notes provide clues. The invulnerability was apparently exploited to defeat bosses without any risk.
According to Reddit user DarkeSword, it was possible with the War Plans build to defeat the boss Varshan safely from the bubble at the end of the dungeon, once he spawned after the run.
This is what the patch notes state: In the German patch notes for patch 3.1.2 from July 28, 2026 it now states:
The invulnerability bubble at the end of a dungeon run has been adjusted and now includes bosses from Whispering Shadows. Additionally, the following elements have been reintroduced to the game:
Source: Blizzard
- The bubble appears immediately after completing a dungeon run if no Whispering Shadow is triggered.
- If a Whispering Shadow appears, the bubble is suppressed until the boss of the Whispering Shadow has been defeated.
This means, specifically: If you have activated the “Malevolent Invasion” point in the War Plans skill tree at the Whispering Tree, Varshan can spawn after completing a whisper. This also occurs in the dungeon when it is marked as Whispering. If Varshan or other enemies appear there, no immunity bubble will spawn until you have defeated the attackers.
Have the remaining enemies and effects in the dungeon also driven you crazy? Are you just as happy that the bubble is finally back? Please share your experiences in the comments!
Blizzard has been quite busy in Season 14, as numerous changes have faced criticism from fans – such as the annoying equipment limit for certain items. Following critical feedback from the community, the developers have removed it: An annoying limit frustrates players in Diablo 4 Season 14, Blizzard responds, patching it out completely
