Priests are the best all-purpose healers in classic WoW, but they have struggled for a long time with their other roles. With Forever, this is supposed to improve.
- Possible Races: Undead, Trolls, Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Gnomes
- Possible Roles: Ranged damage dealers focused on shadow magic, Healers
Official Description: Priests are responsible for the spiritual development of their people. Since they understand how the mind works, they can manipulate a person’s beliefs. They can inspire or instill fear in someone, pacify or dominate someone, heal or harm someone.
Just as both darkness and light can exist in a heart, priests can wield both creative and destructive forces by channeling the powerful energies underlying faith.
What are the strengths? Strong direct healing, healing-over-time effects, shields, and a variety of group heals – no other healer from Azeroth is as broad and flexible. Additionally, there are important raid buffs and useful cleansing spells.
Those who want to endure more in PvP should invest deeper into the Discipline tree. Furthermore, Blizzard has noticeably strengthened the Shadow tree, making the damage specialization more competitive. As a bonus, there is a special endgame quest line for an iconic two-handed staff.
What are the weaknesses? The leveling phase as a priest is very slow for a long time because the important Shadow Form is still deep in the talent tree. This means it takes a long time for the spellcaster to start dealing damage. Priests also have a very mana-intensive playstyle, are not very mobile, and don’t withstand much damage when focusing on the Holy tree. Additionally, they cannot heal while in Shadow Form.
The priest is ideal for: Anyone who wants to play the archetype of a healer with a broad arsenal of healing and shielding spells. In WoW: Forever, there is no other class that fits this image as well. The great armor sets and the special staff from the quest line emphasize this even more. But the Shadow Form of the priest also has its appeal. However, it takes time to obtain it, and it is unclear how competitive the offensive priest will be in the endgame of WoW: Forever.
