Warlocks have clear weaknesses in WoW: Forever, but they are still a force in all areas of Azeroth that one would rather have as a friend than an enemy.
- Possible Races: Orc, Undead, Trolls, Humans, Gnomes
- Possible Roles: Ranged DPS focusing on companions and damage-over-time effects (DoTs)
Official Description: Warlocks are the corruption of all life. With the aid of demon blood, they are able to inflict great torment on their enemies. To replenish the terrible energy they expend through their spells, warlocks drain their victims of life force. The class can also summon and control terrifying demons. However, warlocks are most feared for their unprecedented malice and cruelty.
What are the strengths? High direct damage, focus on demons or as strong damage-over-time effects as possible? As a warlock, you have three competitive playstyles with different strengths and weaknesses to choose from in Forever. Additionally, there are the important curses that every raid is keen on.
Your demonic companions provide you with many useful abilities: They can deal damage, tank, buff you and your party, cleanse effects, or control enemies. Additionally, benefits from the warlock like health stones and soul stones, summoning teammates, the powerful fear spell, or the ability to heal yourself repeatedly. Warlocks are a force in PvE, PvP, and during the leveling phase.
What are the weaknesses? Managing demon skills requires practice. Anyone who lets everything happen automatically wastes a lot of the class’s potential, especially in PvP. All three specializations have clear weaknesses:
- Destruction lacks strong damage-over-time effects for high cleave damage on multiple, long-lived targets.
- Affliction takes a while to ramp up and thus struggles to deal competitive damage in all short fights.
- Demonology is the most dependent on its demon. If the servant dies due to, for instance, enemy area damage, the warlock’s damage plummets.
The warlock is ideal for: Anyone who wants to roam with a servant but prefers to deal magical damage in the form of shadow bolts, fire spells, and DoTs instead of physical damage. We can also recommend the warlock if you want to drive your opponents crazy in PvP or if you want to have a chill time while leveling. Warlocks were among the least played classes in the Vanilla and Classic context – this could also be a reason to create a warlock.
