WoW Forever: Choosing Server, Class, and Race
Before you embark on your adventure, you’ll face 3 of the most important decisions of your Forever adventure. So think carefully about what and where you want to play!
- Those who want to level, quest, and farm unhindered should create a character for the PvE or role-playing rules. In the open world, you can still participate in PvP optionally by simply activating PvP (chat command /pvp). Note: If you disable PvP this way, it takes 5 minutes for your PvP status to be lost.
- Only choose the PvP rules if you are able to handle unwanted PvP encounters in the open world. There will be no later possibility of server transfer from PvP to PvE or RP.
- Important: You can only play with players of your ruleset and faction. So make sure to coordinate with your friends in advance!
- By combining first and last names, the chance is fairly high that you can use your desired name. A name reservation phase runs from October 27 to November 3. However, you must have purchased one of the paid early access versions of Forever.
- Each race has exclusive advantages and bonuses that can provide small benefits in certain situations. If you just want to have as much fun as possible, choose the race that you aesthetically like the most. You’ll be spending a lot of time with the character.
- However, if you want to maximize your characters and aesthetics don’t matter to you, you can already min-max during the race selection – here are some of the most important combinations:
- Orcs (Boiling Blood) and Trolls (Berserker) for as much damage, healing, or threat
- Tauren (War Thunder, Endurance) for tanks or herbalists (Green Thumb)
- Undead (Will of the Forsaken), Humans (Survivability, Perception), Night Elves (Elune’s Light, Shadowy, Quickness), Dwarves (Stoneform), and Gnomes (Unleasher) for PvP
- Gnomes for Engineers (Engineering specialization)
- Humans (Unyielding) and Gnomes (Alert Mind, Eureka!) for healers
- What about the new race of the Skyborn? Here, gameplay that aims for high speed values benefits, such as all spellcasters who cannot cast most of their spells immediately.
The choice of class: The classes of WoW Forever have clear strengths and weaknesses, even though the balance of specializations in Forever will be much more equal than in Vanilla or Classic. The good news for you: Thanks to Blizzard’s revisions, there should be no total failures anymore. At the same time, there is no longer any no-brainer like the old Warrior, who destroyed everything in endgame.
Until the launch of Forever and beyond, the balancing of the classes will of course still change, but some strengths already seem clearly recognizable (or have already been openly communicated by Blizzard):
- Rogues are supposed to deal the highest single-target damage in static fights
- Warriors remain the masters of cleave situations (fights against multiple durable enemies)
- Protection Paladins are supposed to be the best tanks for undead and groups of enemies
- Mages can clear large groups of weak enemies better than anyone else
- Holy Paladins are the most efficient single-target healers, Holy–Priests have the strongest group heals, and Druids have the best over-time heals
- Paladins and Shamans provide the most important buffs for every raid
- Warlocks deliver the strongest damage-over-time effects and curses
- Warlocks and Hunters remain the most comfortable classes for leveling and farming thanks to their companions
- Druids and Rogues can sneak through dangerous situations easily due to their stealth
- Druids are the only class that can take on every role in the game (tank, healer, melee DPS, ranged DPS)
So think carefully about what you want to do in Forever, what role you want to take, and how motivated you want to start. Based on that, you should make your class and race selection.
