Path of Exile has already completed 42 seasons, but in season 43, players must once again play through the campaign. The boss has a good reason for that.
What kind of mechanic is this? In Path of Exile, the start of the new season always features the same game. Everyone has to go through the campaign before they can make freer decisions in the endgame about what they want to do.
Even after 42 seasons, there is no way to skip the campaign of the game. In Diablo 4, however, there is this option, which continually makes developers of Path of Exile grapple with the question.
How is this received? New players can easily take 10–20 hours for the campaign because they don’t know the tricks for a quick completion. But pros would love to save the 5–7 hours they need and wish that the campaign would be removed.

No skip planned for now
How do the developers react to the idea? In a conversation with PCGamesN, boss Mark Roberts and game designer Christopher “Octavian” Laferriere talked about the possibility of a campaign skip.
Laferriere explained: “I would think thoroughly about something like this […] maybe it’s worth revisiting – however, it feels very wrong to me personally.”
Boss Mark Roberts also does not find the idea good. According to him, one would worry much less about their own character with the skip. He knows firsthand how that feels. Thanks to developer tools, he can presumably create a character at maximum level with the best equipment anytime. He said that it “really makes the game worse – the journey is the satisfaction.”
Is there no chance for a skip at all? Some hope still remains. In the past, other principles, such as trading, were considered unchangeable and were still modified. This time, for example, the sockets of the skill gems are being looked at.
However, it should be more difficult for the campaign skip. According to boss Mark Roberts, the focus should remain on the new seasons, which refresh the player experience.
