The developers of Path of Exile have presented their new expansion Curse of the Allflame
and are changing a system that was considered immutable.
What kind of system is this? To equip active and passive skills in Path of Exile, you need the appropriate sockets on your equipment. If you want to perform a heavy strike with your hammer, the corresponding skill gem is red and requires a red socket.
A mage’s fireball, on the other hand, needs a blue slot. The same applies to passive skills, which synergize with active skills through connections on the same piece of equipment.
In short, it has been very important so far to maintain your equipment with the appropriate skill slots because otherwise, you had to craft for a long time before you could equip all your skills as desired. However, this is now going to change completely.

Benefits instead of Blockades
How does the new system work? The developers announced in their livestream on YouTube that the system described above is going into the archive. Instead, with the release of Curse of the Allflame
on July 24, a revised system will be introduced.
In the new system, the matching color of the skill gems and the sockets plays only a minor role. Thus, wrong
skill gems can also be equipped. However, there is an advantage if you still pay attention to the colors as before.
Thus, skills that are in the correct slots receive a buff. So if you do everything right as before, you remain stronger.
What impact does this have? The skill gem system as it was has actually only been an obstacle at the beginning of the game and for beginners. It was a problem that could be solved with enough currency, but still caused issues for players in solo self-found leagues.
With the abolition of per se, players can now gear up much easier and pros can still enjoy the advantages of perfectly tuned equipment.
