The developers of Path of Exile have introduced their new expansion Curse of the Allflame
and are changing a system that was considered immutable.
What kind of system is it? To equip active and passive skills in Path of Exile, you need the appropriate sockets on your gear. If you want to execute a heavy strike with your hammer, then the appropriate skill gem is red and requires a red socket.
A wizard’s fireball, on the other hand, needs a blue socket. The same applies to passive skills, which synergize through connections with active skills in the same piece of equipment.
In short, it has been very important until now to obtain your equipment with the appropriate skill slots, as otherwise, you had to craft for a long time before you could equip all your skills as desired. However, this is now completely changing.

How does the new system work? The developers announced in their livestream on YouTube that the above-described system will be archived. Instead, with the release of Curse of the Allflame
on July 24, a revised system will be introduced.
In the new system, the matching color of the skill gems and the sockets only plays a secondary role. This allows you to equip incorrect
skill gems. However, there is an advantage if you still pay attention to the colors as before.
Skills that are in the correct slots will receive a buff. So if you do everything correctly as before, you remain stronger.
What impact does this have? The skill gem system as it has been was actually just an obstacle at the beginning of the game and for beginners. It was a problem that could be solved with enough currency, yet it always caused issues for players in solo self-found leagues.
With the abolition of the per se requirement, players can now equip themselves much more easily, and pros may continue to enjoy the benefits of perfectly tuned equipment.
