The developers of Path of Exile have announced what will remain of the current season when the next one starts, and it is not much.
How is Path of Exile doing right now? Currently, the Mirage League is still underway in Path of Exile. This is especially a celebration for solo players because the league mechanics and atlas overhaul boost loot and endgame content.
So right now, you hardly need the trade market to equip your character well. The new mechanics of the season have boosted the “loot per minute” factor more than many others before, and with the right tactic, you can farm a lot quickly.
The new atlas after the overhaul helps a lot, too. Now you hardly need the auction house anymore for maps, as you can farm them efficiently yourself. However, the developers seem to think that’s going too far.

What have the developers decided now? The developers stated in a post on PathofExile.com that Mirage will not transition into the standard league after the season ends. This means that many of the mechanics in use so far will become useless. Only a few points are supposed to remain:

- The core contents of the atlas introduced in the Mirage league, such as astrolabes and extraordinary support gems, will remain.
- Support through “Transfusion” will no longer be available via divination cards.
- Maps with enhanced Mirages that cover the entire map cannot be opened in standard mode.
- Existing black baryas can still be used, but there will be no way to obtain more of them.
So not much will remain of the current league, and the fact that you can only consume accumulated items is probably just a drop in the bucket for many.
What are the fans saying? This is of course not well received by the fans. Although the complaints are limited given the countless loot and item opportunities, some sadness is palpable. They write on Reddit:

- german39: “Time to feel the nerf of the boxes now that Mirage is gone – rest in peace.”
- sd_aids: “Yes, Mirage has done an extreme amount of work for endgame farms after the destruction of T17 maps. Hopefully, they cook up something comparable, or else it will feel like a really poor league.”
