In Dead by Daylight, some players are being banned right now. However, the penalties are very brief. What is going on?
Dead by Daylight still suffers from a few issues after years, but one of them is player-made: disconnectors.
Whenever a player leaves the match during an ongoing game, the survivor team is at a distinct disadvantage. With only 3 instead of 4 survivors, it becomes very difficult to win the match.
Finally, there are some players who want to deny points to the killer by leaving the game before they can be hooked.
This behavior has hardly been punished so far – but that is about to change.
Why do players disconnect? There are many reasons for disconnecting in Dead by Daylight. Some players are angry when they are found by the killer first. Other players feel “unfairly treated” by the killer, some do not want to play with their teammates, and some duos leave the game as soon as one of the two players is killed.
However, disconnecting is considered unsportsmanlike in Dead by Daylight and will therefore be subject to penalties.
What is being done now? Until tomorrow, December 19, 2019, the developers are testing a new penalty system in the PC and Switch version of Dead by Daylight.
This system identifies players who disconnect and imposes a penalty on them. After a disconnect, they cannot join a game for a while and must wait. If they disconnect again after the penalty time has expired, a higher penalty will be imposed. Thus, the severity of the penalty and the duration of the ban will increase if a player frequently leaves the game early.
However, the severity of the penalties decreases if players stay until the end of many matches and do not disconnect early.
Currently only mini penalties: Since the system is currently only a test, the penalties are extremely short. Anyone who leaves a game will be penalized with a 30-second ban – so it’s not a major hurdle. You can pour yourself a glass of cola and then continue playing.
The community manager notQueen emphasizes that this is intentional. The system is being tested and it may happen that some players are wrongly penalized. The developers want to thoroughly test the system, which is why the duration of the penalties is currently so short. When the system is fully operational, the penalties will be higher accordingly.
The test will only last a few days and is meant to give the developers initial feedback to refine the system. It will likely take a few weeks before it goes live permanently with comprehensive functionality.

All activities within the node contribute to progress. Once a node reaches the status of “village”, a collection of houses emerges and a mayor is elected. This mayor is responsible for the management of the town, where player housing can also be established.
However, since nodes can also be destroyed and conquered, PvP plays an important role in Ashes of Creation. Nevertheless, there are supposed to be PvE activities as well, including dynamic quests, crafting, and the mentioned housing.
Why do so many have hopes for Ashes of Creation? The founder of the development studio Intrepid, Steven Sharif, is very ambitious when it comes to his MMORPG.
However, there hasn’t been a really big announcement for the MMORPG. The focus was more on the standalone Apocalypse.
What is the latest information about the MMORPG? On December 17, the last developer livestream of the year took place. It was announced that currently work is being done on fortress sieges. The focus is on balancing the classes and the siege weapons.
While sieges are an essential component of the MMORPG, the first version of it is being developed as a standalone game mode for Apocalypse and is being adjusted as well.

Lead Character Artist Chris Atkins mentioned that new NPC types take about 12 to 15 days to create. However, there are now many models that are being modified to speed up the process.
Lead Programmer Kevin McPherson talked about the implementation of leaderboards in the MMORPG.
From a story perspective, the player character will not be “the one hero” like in single-player RPGs.

What is Apocalypse? In September, Intrepid Studios released the PvP game Apocalypse. It is a battle royale for Ashes of Creation that anyone can play for free.
Apocalypse is meant to replace alpha 0 and is primarily used to test server structures and combat systems.
How is the game doing at the end of 2019? Since its release, the PvP standalone has struggled with low player numbers. According to Steamcharts, at peak in October 2019, only 288 players were online. In the last 30 days, there were only 21 players at peak, with an average of 8 players online.
While Apocalypse is not fundamentally bad, PvP games rely on attention and the number of their players. This number has been very low from the start.
Additionally, the game offers many different monetization options, including a paid battle pass and a shop with cosmetic items. Many players on Steam feel that this is too much for a game that only serves as a substitute for an alpha:
Glutax: “Turning an alpha into a battle royale? Okay. Bringing a battle pass and microtransactions into an early access of an alpha test? Definitely not! Still, the gameplay is okay, the environment looks nice.”

Ashes of Creation at the end of 2019
Where does Ashes of Creation stand at the end of 2019? Currently, there is neither a playable alpha for the MMORPG, nor a date or approximate timeframe for it. The release, which was still referred to as 2020 in March, seems already difficult. The situation at the end of 2019 is therefore not optimal.
Nonetheless, Ashes of Creation is making gradual progress, which will also be addressed in an upcoming Directors Letter. The release of Apocalypse is a good sign that they can keep a game online and functional permanently, even if interest is currently low.
An initial real conclusion will probably come from the upcoming Alpha 1. It will show how far the MMORPG really is and whether a release is possible in the foreseeable future. However, it seems that we will have to be patient with Ashes of Creation for quite some time.
Not only Ashes of Creation is struggling with problems. Other MMORPGs have also not met their goals:
In Borderlands 3, players spend a lot of time collecting the best loot. It is all the more bitter when all the hard-earned equipment suddenly disappears. Exactly that happened to one player – but in the end, he had something to be happy about.
This is what happened: While Christmas is actually being celebrated in Borderlands 3, Reddit user “Jimmy2times13” experienced a nasty surprise. He reported with a post in the Borderlands subreddit.
The reason: Due to a glitch, his entire inventory and bank were emptied. All the rare weapons, shields, class mods, and artifacts painstakingly collected over the last months: Gone.

He announced that he wanted to put the game down for a while now. But then the community intervened.
Community saves player – he is moved and wants to give back
This is how the community helped the player: Under the original post, many other Borderlands players reacted to Jimmy’s problem. They asked for his PSN contact and offered to send him some weapons. Also, FL4K players who pursued a similar crit build as Jimmy were involved and offered the appropriate weapons.
A little later, the second post from the player followed: “Guys, thank you very much! I had nothing left in my inventory and in the bank and now I have literally hundreds of items to go through – thanks to your generosity,” said Jimmy, who probably won’t put the game down after all: “I won’t forget who helped me and will soon start farming for all of you. You are amazing!”

Jimmy2times13 announced now how he wants to give back to the community: “I never expected such support. I got back almost everything I farmed for months from strangers I have never met and with whom I have never spoken or played.”
They are the reason why he is not giving up Borderlands 3 now: “I’m farming for you now! Every day I’m online, I’ll make a post asking what you need.” This way, he wants to pay back his “debts”.

What about the Wizard? In the last seasons of Diablo 3, Wizards have always solidly occupied the top spots in the Solo leaderboards. So far, Season 19 presents a different picture. However, in the last two weeks, the Wizard class has already advanced from GR 130 to GR 141.
It is quite possible that the class will now make a sprint and gain even more positions. The tier list for Season 19 predicted the “Bazook-Wiz” as one of the strongest builds, but also very complicated to play.
A disruption of the rankings was caused by an exploit, which allowed players to quickly sneak into the top rankings of the Solo Rifts:
Barbarian: The class received several buffs before the start of Season 19, which particularly support the Whirlwind Barbarian.
