The big US streamer GiantWaffle tried to break a crazy record on Twitch: the one for the most hours streamed in a month. At the same time, a smaller German streamer also attempted to set this record – and significantly beat GiantWaffle.
What record is that? It’s about the world record for the most hours streamed online on Twitch in a month.
Previously, this record was held by the American streamer Jackson “JayBigs” Bigsby. He streamed for 569 hours in August 2019. The month has only 744 hours:
- Now, in November, the streamer GiantWaffle attempted this record. He himself stated that he knows it’s unhealthy. Nevertheless, he wants to try to break the record. After all, for records, you have to push your limits.
- At the same time as GiantWaffle, the German streamer Seansstream tried to break the record. He held it back in 2018 until he was surpassed. On November 29 at 3:02 PM, he broke 570 hours and set a new record.
Update: The month has now ended. Seansstream streamed a solid 595 hours in November, thus setting the bar for a new record high.
Seansstream holds world record for most hours on Twitch in a month
This is how crazy the German’s stream went: Seansstream planned to carefully strategize his record attempt:
- he accounted for doctor visits
- he set precise times for when he consumes water and caffeine – and also determined exact amounts
- and he scheduled times for when he sleeps
Initially, 600 hours live streaming were planned – 20 hours every day.
During the attempt, however, an illness sidelined him for more hours than he had planned. However, some streams lasting over 30 hours at a stretch helped make up for the missed time.
Seansstream recorded his online times in a table.

Was it a competition? No. Neither Seansstream nor GiantWaffle knew beforehand that the other streamer would attempt this. In conversation, Seansstream revealed to us:
If I had known that beforehand, I wouldn’t have done it at all. We both only found out about it halfway through. If this turns into a competition, it becomes dangerous because one always tries to outdo the other and eventually overdoes it.
Now that “Streamvember” is over, GiantWaffle has also achieved his goal. He managed to stream for 572 hours. While he also broke the old record, he still lies 23 hours behind Seansstream – almost a whole day.

According to sullygnome, there was a significant difference between the two streamers.
- GiantWaffle had an average of 5085 viewers
- Seansstream 255
Is the record breakable? With nearly 600 hours, it will now be really hard to break the record again. However, Seansstream believes it is possible: “There are people who have been working under extreme conditions for years. There is surely someone who can achieve that.”
The 595 hours are still a tough nut to crack. “So I don’t have to do that again,” he says.
