This is the problem: In a reddit thread, user Xeccess pointed out that the laser can be seen around corners. It hides behind a container on the popular map Shoot House and aims at a passage.

What is the combat system like in New World? The new MMO from Amazon features an action RPG combat system. You must aim at enemies yourself and actively attack them. There will be no tab targeting, nor a visible mouse cursor.
Fighting in New World is said to feel dynamic and very physical. When you strike an enemy, the hit is physically connected to the foe. This should be visible and felt, even when shooting at an enemy and hitting them with a projectile.
The combat system is described as very position and skill-based. You won’t get light MMORPG fare where only cooldowns need to be managed.
Where do the information come from? Coinciding with the release of the new trailer we conducted an interview with Game Director Scot Lane. Below you’ll find what we learned about the combat system from the interview.
The Mix Makes It
Where do the inspirations for New World come from? Scot Lane revealed to us that the biggest inspirations for New World come from WoW and Dark Souls. Both games had an influence on the combat system:
I personally drew most inspiration from WoW, one of the best MMOs ever made, and Dark Souls. We took a lot from these for our action RPG combat system. We try to mix the two games a bit.
But Black Desert and many other great games have influenced us as well.
Which parts of the combat system are like in Dark Souls? New World focuses on an action-packed and physical combat system. Accordingly, there are:
Directly targeting enemies, positioning plays an important role
Physically noticeable attacks
A dodge roll
No tab targeting
Which parts of the combat system are like in WoW? Content for character development was taken as a model from the MMORPGs:

Combat System in the Alpha Still Very Rough and Slow
New World presented itself from September 2018 to June 2019 in an initial Alpha. In December 2019, the MMO returned with many new details. The PvP requirement was removed and combat was made significantly more dynamic.
How was the combat system in the Alpha? The combat system there was described as very rough and sluggish. Attacks were slow and there was a stamina bar that made many attacks impossible one after another.
Additionally, there were no options to improve weapons and related skills. Skill points for weapons or a skill tree were omitted.
Fighting Like in Dark Souls? Game Director Scot Lane compared in the interview with MeinMMO the combat system of New World with that of Dark Souls, especially in the first Alpha.
However, there were many improvement suggestions after the testing phase. This ultimately led to classic MMO elements flowing into the fights:
We learned a lot from our Alpha test. Especially our MMO players asked us to develop the game even more towards MMO. [..]
We adjusted the combat system, we had pushed it a bit too much towards hardcore.
The Punishing Elements Removed
What has changed in the combat system? Scot Lane told us that the already mentioned stamina bar has been completely removed. Furthermore, the combat system is intended to be more dynamic and less limiting than it was in the Alpha.
He himself says that testers will hardly recognize New World next time they try it:
When you try New World next time, you will say: “Oh my God, it feels so good, so responsive, and so much faster.”
Previously it was aimed at hardcore players, now you feel the action RPG without it feeling too limiting. I am so excited, it is hard to put combat into words.
What changes for the weapons? An important role in fighting in New World is your equipment. Since there are no classes, it determines your playstyle.
Each weapon now has skill trees, with which you can adjust the playstyle. Scot Lane described them as follows:
If you choose the axe, and it becomes your main weapon, you might want to upgrade a skill tree for fast melee attacks.
Maybe you want to become particularly good at throwing them. Then you will put your points into throwing.
Similarly, a one-handed sword could be used as an offensive weapon or in combination with a shield for tanking. It all depends on the points distributed in the skill tree.
The skill trees complement the attributes system of the characters. This brings some classic MMORPG elements into the combat system.
Some innovations have also been made to the story:
The Twitch streamer LIRIKtested a really nasty setup in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that was even embarrassing for him in the end. Nevertheless, it seems to be effective.
What was this setup? For this, LIRIK equipped himself with a riot shield and a rocket launcher. In addition, he took C4 with him and strutted around the map.
The streamer only had explosive weapons and could protect himself with the shield from opponents with assault rifles.
“What the hell is this? This is so dumb”

LIRIK even survived a C4 attack from an opponent. The opponent threw the explosive at the streamer, but the shield absorbed the damage, allowing LIRIK to survive.
In the end, the streamer even hid cunningly in a house and set a trap for an opponent. He let him in and ran straight into the C4. LIRIK himself stood safely behind his shield.
This is what LIRIK says about the action: He can hardly believe that this setup worked so well. During his kills, he said things like: “Are you kidding me, what the hell is that? This is so dumb!” or “Oh my God, I would leave the game out of anger.”
The streamer is aware that this combo is really unfair to players who use regular rifles. In the end of the clip, however, he accepts this inequality and continues to have fun with his combo.
That’s why the setup could be embarrassing: Many players are already critical of campers and often get upset about them. If you then get taken out by a camper who has tucked himself in a corner with a shield and is hunting players with C4, the shame afterwards could be great.
The streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney is number 1 on Twitch and known for his Fortnite skills. However, after the new update in Fortnite, he got upset. Because Epic had fixed his favorite loophole in Slurpy Swamp with the patch: The shield exploit in Fortnite no longer works.
This is the background: In Fortnite, shield potions have existed for ages. In Chapter 2, Fortnite now showed where this shield potion is made: in the landing zone “Slurpy Swamp.”
This is where the Slurp Juice comes from.
Here stands a factory that extracts and produces shield potions from a “shield river.” Near the factory, there are also large tankers from the “Slurp” brand filled with shield potions.
This is the shield exploit: If you want to break the tankers in Fortnite with a pickaxe, it takes a few hits and takes a while. However, it was possible to build a structure under the trucks, resulting in them being destroyed and the player receiving the full amount of shields with less effort.
For pros like Tfue, such a trick provides a few seconds advantage to quickly start a match with 100 shield energy.
Here is one of the tankers that promises so much shield points.
This is how Tfue reacts: In a match after the latest patch in Fortnite, Tfue lands at the start of a round right at such a truck, quickly chops down a tree for materials, and places pyramids under the trucks. However, they no longer destroy the truck: The trick has been fixed. Tfue now has to spend valuable seconds destroying the truck “normally” in Fortnite.
Tfue reacts as usual with restraint:
“Epic, are you kidding me? Go fuck yourselves. It’s like you watched my stream… I mean seriously, why are you doing this?”

Tfue is upset that an Epic employee specifically spent time making this trick impossible. And he was even paid for it. Tfue seems to feel this as a personal affront against him.

Tfue is annoyed that he now has to hit the truck again for “30 minutes.” In the clip, the destruction of the truck takes 5 seconds, with 7 hits needed with the pickaxe.

I really wish there was a combination of the two – the leveling experience of Classic and the endgame of Retail. I think that would be fantastic.
Other players, like Slaythepuppy, see the balance of Classic as the main problem as to why it couldn’t hold their attention for long:
My biggest concern with Classic is the balance. While WoW was never the best when it came to balance, Classic feels like the worst balanced version of WoW, and it only gets more extreme with the release of new phases.

The update for the Casino Heist in GTA Online also seems to have brought Formula 1 cars. At least according to the findings of data miners who found the high-performance racing cars. They are showcased in the video.

All three firearms are tied to their own quests, during which you must complete several tasks. And there seem to be problems with some tasks – at least with the Python and the Komodo.
What is the problem with the ritual weapons? For the Python, you have to achieve a total of 500 kills with shotguns in Gambit matches. You also need to score 150 shotgun kills from close range.
For the Komodo, you must participate in Crucible matches, where you need to achieve 125 kills with linear fusion rifles or 15 precision kills with one of this weapon type.
The problem is: Often you do not receive any progress for these steps – neither in the Crucible nor in Gambit. Even if you clearly meet these criteria multiple times during matches, nothing happens in the quest display – the kills do not count. But why?
The reason seems to be joining ongoing matches. Many players have now found that you do not make any progress for these steps when you are assigned to and join ongoing Crucible or Gambit matches. Because there, none of your corresponding achievements are counted – no matter how well they may be.
What you should pay attention to in the hunt for the ritual weapons: In short, you can still make progress – just not in ongoing matches.
If you are currently hunting for both or one of these ritual weapons, you have the following options:
Leave the ongoing match and join a new match, hoping that you will be assigned to a game that you compete in from the start. However, this is not particularly fair or nice to your teammates. Furthermore, you cannot do this too often due to the resulting warnings or even temporary bans.
Switch to your regular Gambit or Crucible loadout, finish the ongoing match, and then hope that you will be competing in the next match from the beginning. Even if you end up in an annoying lobby, you might also want to consider not leaving after the match and starting a fresh player search. This increases the chance of getting into an ongoing match.
By the way, as some players report, this bug seems to be causing issues in other areas of the game as well, where similar requirements apply – including with bounties and quests.
