Amazon will place a strong focus on housing in its upcoming MMO New World – this was revealed by Game Director Scot Lane in an interview with our editor Leya Jankowski.
During the Game Awards 2019, Amazon officially announced the release of the MMO New World. On this occasion, we conducted an interview with Game Director Scot Lane at MeinMMO, who told us a lot about housing.
We wondered what content the MMO would offer for players who are not particularly interested in combat and intense mass battles, which will be an important part of the game.
A feature we believe players will have a lot of fun with is our housing. Every settlement has houses that you can buy. You can decorate the house and the garden. You can find or craft furniture out in the world. This will be a key component of PvE in the open world.
Imagine you want to fight a wolf, you find one and kill it. You can hang the fur on your wall, and when you have that wolf in your house, you will receive a buff when you fight against beasts.
So we have cosmetic and functional furniture.
Scot Lane, Game Director of New World about housing to MeinMMO
Scot explained that housing will create its own gameplay loop. Even in their early testing phases, players are said to have already experimented and come up with some pretty cool decorations.
If all this is true, then the housing will be as extensive and good as we haven’t seen in a long time in a western MMO.
To summarize the housing of New World:

Politics plays a role, as the ruler of a settlement determines things like taxes
This will all be in the game from the start, according to the developers. Other games like Final Fantasy XIV or ESO also have extensive housing, but it was added to the games later. Currently, there are really only a few exceptions like Maple Story 2, where housing plays an important and central role.
Individual elements, as they are now supposed to exist in New World, can also be found elsewhere. The combination is what makes it innovative and exciting.
What’s behind it: The special thing here is that we learned about housing from Scot only because we asked for content for casual players and PvE.
A “casual” player is someone who does not invest much time to fully enjoy a game. They approach a game more casually and might not keep up with others even in the endgame.
That Scot mentioned housing so prominently and first is telling. It suggests how significant Amazon wants this feature to be in the game.
However, this is a personal interpretation from the conversation. Also, there are currently no images or videos of housing.
Scot further mentioned that they still have some ideas in the team on how to add more fun elements if players desire it.
The current planned launch with housing could therefore still expand from here. Housing already seems to be extensively designed.
If all this is true and implemented, then New World could once again come out with an MMO from the West where housing plays a central role.
New World has a new direction
What has happened to New World? Originally, New World was planned as a survival sandbox game. The game was supposed to have forced PvP and a strong PvP focus. However, that has since changed.
New World is now going to be an open-world MMO, with the option to turn PvP on and off. Overall, more PvE content has been added, such as NPC quests and missions that encourage exploration of the world.
The fun of World of Warcraft Classic is massively diminished. The main problem is the new mentality of players from more modern games.
After the overwhelming launch of World of Warcraft Classic, many players believed that they had returned to the “promised land” of gaming. A nostalgic trip with a long leveling phase, social contacts, and many small adventures.
But this dream threatens to burst, because the fun in WoW Classic is massively diminished. The cause seems to be a mentality that fits more modern games.
What is going on? In WoW Classic, especially on the PvP realms, the atmosphere is terrible. The introduction of the Honor System has plunged many realms into complete chaos. Horde and Alliance do not meet for “chaotic PvP at Tarren’s Mill” as it was many years ago, but rather they scour the entire world, gank players at every corner, and focus on the most efficient way to play.
Even battlegrounds did not bring the desired salvation. Instead of experiencing long Alterac Valleys or exciting battles in the Warsong Gulch, in Alterac Valley, players just run through and kill the bosses. Actual PvP hardly occurs, leading to great dissatisfaction.
Addons caused stress: Addons additionally increased the performance pressure among players. Especially the “Spy” addon, which warned players early about who was nearby, has significantly changed the game.
Whereas originally only a few scattered players used it, now nearly the entire PvP community does. This drastically alters the gaming experience. Those who forgo such addons feel like they are falling behind and not being as effective as their fellow players.
The desire for effectiveness and the urge to prove oneself to others in PvP has, in many cases, been stronger than the desire for the “Old School” Classic experience.
Players express their discontent: On Reddit user hockeylife17 asks: “When did people stop wanting to have fun?” In his short thread, he complains that everyone only values perfect optimization, thus slowly killing the fun. Addons like Spy, the constant griefing by other players, or ruining the realm Flamelash. He receives much support on Reddit – more than 10,000 upvotes and many awards.
The problem had already shown itself: This is not entirely new. Many players had previously begun to prioritize effectiveness in the game over other aspects. For example, there were many purely “farm groups” for dungeons consisting only of mages. Others sought the most efficient leveling routes and did not shy away from exploiting the layering mechanics.
Can Blizzard help? Some players are calling for help from Blizzard and hope that adjustments will be made to bring the fun back into focus – such as changing Alterac Valley to an earlier patch state. Currently, there is hardly any PvP, as players just run past each other without fighting. Because that is the most effective way to farm reputation.

In Red Dead Online, the multiplayer of Red Dead Redemption 2, you can now find Lowry’s Revolver. However, you first need to unlock it in GTA Online. We will show you the location and how to unlock it.
Why is there a revolver? In Red Dead Online, there is the exclusive “Lowry’s Revolver”. This is a special edition of the Navy Revolver, which has been available since the Moonshiners update.
To find this revolver in Red Dead Online, you must first complete a treasure hunt in GTA Online. It’s a kind of cross-promotion.
In your Social Club account, both games must be activated to unlock the revolver in both games.

Where you should search: The weapon is located in the hideout of the serial killer from Red Dead Redemption 2. You may remember the serial killer Edmund Lowry Jr. from the American Dreams quest line in single-player. He is the reason the weapon is named after him.
First, travel with your character in Red Dead Online to the town of Valentine. The place has already served a player as a starting point, to carry his stew across the map.
Now follow the path that leads west out of the town and ride from there, under the A of “Valentine” to the north.
This will lead you into a small forest. Continue riding north and you will notice a dilapidated cabin with its cellar entrance open by two doors. Inside, a torch can be seen from outside.
Descend into the cellar, go past the first wall on the right, and head to the desk. On it is a weapon crate in which the revolver is packaged.
Open the crate and you will hold Lowry’s Revolver in your hands.
How good is Lowry’s Revolver? The weapon’s stats are not to be underestimated. The revolver impresses with high accuracy and solid damage. A kill count from the previous owner and the blood on the weapon make it particularly special.
With the next update of World of Warcraft, flying will become a bit more challenging. In the “new old” areas, you can’t just take off …
When new areas are released in World of Warcraft, there is often a no-fly zone. Flying often has to be unlocked separately here, or flying is simply not allowed at all.
In Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth, a mechanic is introduced that players are likely familiar with from the island of Mechagon. Flying is then at your own risk.

However, to prevent this from being completed in a matter of seconds, flying is restricted by massive enemies flying in the sky.
If they spot a player on a flying mount, they immediately take aim and attack them. This stacks a debuff on the player that slows them down progressively. If a player accumulates 10 stacks of the debuff, the monsters attack properly and deal one-hit kills – resulting in instant death.

Why are there these obstacles? The two areas “Vale of Eternal Blossoms” and “Uldum” are not new zones. Instead, they are areas where players have been able to fly for many years. Therefore, it would be somewhat strange for Blizzard to simply take this ability away from players.
Instead, there are now these flying enemies that gradually blow players out of the sky if they stay in the air on their mount for too long. This seems to be a compromise. You can still fly, but the duration is greatly limited, or you have to dodge skillfully. This keeps it exciting and the areas dangerous. You can’t simply go AFK in the air.

Since the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, our author Benedict has already played for dozens of hours. Many things about the game actually annoy him, leading to a love-hate relationship.
I played Call of Duty since my youth, initially with the first and second titles, later also CoD 4: Modern Warfare and mostly at LAN parties. Although I enjoyed it with friends, the series couldn’t truly captivate me otherwise.
When Black Ops 4 was released, I attempted a re-entry, and particularly the Battle Royale “Blackout” managed to captivate me. That was my return to shooters, where I was also convinced by outliers like Apex Legends.
I was already taken by Blackout in Black Ops 4. Modern Warfare doesn’t need a Battle Royale to be enjoyable.
With the release of Modern Warfare, my hunger for the genre was actually already satisfied again. Nevertheless, I checked it out and now I can’t stop playing, despite many minor (and major) shortcomings.
bugs, matchmaking and this damn loud intro
What annoys me the most about Modern Warfare? One thing upfront: Most of the things that get on my nerves didn’t annoy me from the beginning. Many issues arose over time or were added later.
Above all, what annoys me about Modern Warfare is that the game often favors campers. This is something that drives me crazy. Whenever I have a good round, there’s someone camping somewhere in a completely ridiculous spot with a one-shot weapon that takes me out.
Admittedly, this is not a problem unique to Modern Warfare. However, it is compounded by the fact that the typical playstyles like Run&Gun with specific builds particularly suffer among campers due to the combination with things like low TTK.
I’m someone who enjoys trying out unusual weapons and off-meta builds, customizing the weapons in the gunsmith, and then testing them in action. But if I’m constantly running into a camper, it breaks my flow.
Many small bugs: While the campers are extremely frustrating, they are not the only thing that bothers me about Modern Warfare. The game feels unfinished in several places. On PC, the menus sometimes lag, the controls feel stiff, and there are really annoying bugs:
I often encountered bad graphic glitches, sometimes even during games.
The number of bugs simply adds up. Okay, Infinity Ward patches multiple times a week and many bugs get fixed quickly. But whenever I start the game, this intro screams at me – a bug that should have been fixed ages ago.
Every time I forget to take off my headphones for a moment, it almost bursts my eardrums. This sound is incredibly loud – and constantly reminds me of the other bugs I can find in the game.

That’s why it’s still so much fun: Despite all this complaining and grumbling, I look forward to playing at least one or two rounds every evening.
Because even though my ears are still ringing from the intro in the menu sometimes, I already know there will be three things that I will enjoy:

This is how I enjoy Modern Warfare
Outstanding multiplayer: Most of the time, I spend in the various multiplayer modes of Modern Warfare. Initially, my sessions mostly consisted of Ground War, but now I play a lot of TDM, Kill Confirmed, Free for All, or the Realism Playlist.
I particularly enjoy the night maps.
The reason I have so much fun here is the flawless gunplay. Infinity Ward has really put a lot of work into the weapons – from the weapon behavior to the appearance to as accurately represented sounds.
It is just really fun to shoot through the rounds with different guns and styles. On top of that, I’m a huge fan of tactical shooters (Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six). And Modern Warfare is different from all predecessors in this respect: weapons kill faster and you often have to play more carefully and tactically. Exactly my thing!
The gunsmith feature offers so many possibilities to customize weapons or even build secret weapons that I spend hours here trying to create the perfect setup, testing it, and then further improving it.
At the moment, I’m working on the secret G63 to make it my new favorite weapon.
Gaming with friends: Lastly, I recently discovered the fun coop mode SpecOps. Friends invited me to some rounds, and previously, I only knew the boring horde defense maps there.
The missions are much richer and more varied than I had previously noticed. The tasks are interestingly designed and the missions are genuinely tricky, making it feel like you’ve accomplished something after completion.
The SpecOps mission “Paladin” is really good.
Since I can level and try out weapons here without being mowed down by other players, it also suits my gunsmith fetish excellently. It even allows to overlook bugs that spoil new game modes.
I want to be angry, but it’s too good
Is Modern Warfare good or bad? The bugs may annoy me massively, but to be honest, they do that more selectively. Sure, they’re there, and when I’m affected, they make me groan in annoyance.
Most of the time, however, I don’t even notice them. I would claim that I can play the majority of my sessions normally. I would like to be angry to have something to latch onto. But it’s not possible – the overall package is just too well done. The reaction of streamer DrDisrespect on Apex Legends sums it up pretty well.

The arena shooter “Planetside Arena” aimed to capitalize on the battle royale hype surrounding Fortnite and Apex Legends. However, just a few months after launching in early access on Steam, the lights are already going out. The servers will shut down in January 2020. The game will never make it to PS4 and Xbox One.
In December 2018, it was announced that Planetside Arena was set to launch on PC in January 2019 – versions for PS4 and Xbox One were in development. At that time, it looked like a lightning launch.
Apex Legends botched the launch
Here were the issues before and during the launch: However, the launch was postponed multiple times, citing a need for more time. Initially, it was announced that Planetside Arena would be released on March 26.
Player numbers too low for the vision of mass battles
This is what the developers say now: In a message to players from Daybreak, it is stated that they have decided to close the servers of Planetside Arena.
The player numbers made it clear that it was impossible to provide the “massive player battles” they initially envisioned.
The servers will close on January 10, 2020. Players are supposed to receive an automatic refund to their Steam account when the servers go offline.
Daybreak thanks the players for their support and states that they remain deeply connected to the Planetside universe.
What were the player numbers? In September, Planetside Arena had an average of 474 players on Steam, in October just 53. In the last 30 days, there was an average of only 11.
Battle Royale hype is likely limited to a few games
This is what’s behind it: Following the success of H1Z1, PUBG, and especially Fortnite, some studios came up with the idea to develop battle royale games. Some of these had a brief heyday, but some also disappeared just as quickly as they appeared.
For a battle royale game, it is particularly important to have many players online constantly; otherwise, players will wait forever for a match to start.
With the strong free-to-play games Fortnite and Apex Legends, new battle royale games entering the market now must offer something special to survive and build a player base.
New battle royale games rely on generating hype and ideally attracting more and more players through Twitch. They need word-of-mouth marketing.
Planetside Arena apparently did not succeed in this. The game was meant to focus on massive battles, but there simply were not enough active players.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne introduces some new features regarding equipment enhancement and augmentation. We show you how this works in the expansion.
What is new in Iceborne? With Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, not only a set of new monsters has come into play. There are also a few new features related to your equipment.
Some details about enhancing armor have changed. But especially the augmentation of weapons no longer works like in the base game. However, it’s not rocket science, and we explain how it all works. Additionally, you will learn in this guide what exactly enhancement and augmentation mean.
Where do I get the materials for this? To enhance or augment your equipment, you need various materials. What they are and where to find them is listed in the following lists:
Monster Hunter World is full of various armors. You need to acquire some sets to be prepared for every monster. To enhance the armor pieces, you initially need two things:
Zenny (currency in Monster Hunter World)
Armor spheres
This is how it works with armor spheres: Now go to the blacksmith and select your desired piece under “Enhance Equipment”. The number of armor spheres you need for the maximum enhancement depends on the armor’s level and the spheres. Higher level armors need more spheres. And the rarer your armor sphere is, the fewer you need.
Enhancing a helm
This is how the level cap for armors works: You can continually enhance your equipment throughout the story. The process in Iceborne is somewhat different than in the base game. The armor is linked to your story progress. You can thus increase your armor in stages until it reaches maximum.
What is a level cap? This is comparable to the level limit of Monster Hunter World. Here, you can only reach a certain hunter rank. After that, you must complete a quest to lift your level restriction (level cap). Any experience you gained up until the completion of the quest will then be credited to you.
Beyond the Maximum: Augmentation
Once your armor is maximally enhanced, there are additional possibilities in the endgame of Iceborne. You can later augment your equipment. This raises the enhancement limit and allows you to further increase your defense.
Augmenting a helm
What do I need to augment my armor? Just like in the base game, special materials are required for augmentation, which you can obtain from tempered monsters:

Different materials are required for the individual levels of armor. The higher the equipment, the stronger monsters you must defeat for augmentation. For this, you need to go to the blacksmith again. This time, select the “Augment Equipment” tab.
From Hammer to Bow – The Weapons
This is how you enhance your weapons: You can also upgrade your weapons with materials. It doesn’t matter which of the 14 weapon classes from Monster Hunter World you play. The type of materials is the same.
The weapon tree of the Acid Glavenus
In the base game, the tree in which the weapon is located was crucial. If it is in the Kadachi branch, it primarily requires Kadachi materials. In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, you can now upgrade your weapons up to level 12.
There are differences between the individual weapons. Some have higher raw attack values, while others offer advantages through elemental damage.
Even More Skills: Augmentation
Which weapons can I augment? Through the so-called augmentation, you can equip your weapons with additional skills. This is possible if they are level 10 or higher and have been maximally enhanced. Most of the materials for this are found in the endgame area “Guiding Lands”.
How does augmentation work? In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, weapons have so-called slots to pack skills. The number depends on the rarity of the weapon:
Rarity 10 – 5 slots
Rarity 11 – 4 slots
Rarity 12 – 3 slots
In fact, higher rarity weapons have less space for augmentations. You will need to think strategically about which equipment is suitable for you.

Can I increase the number of slots? It is possible to increase the number of your available augmentations. For this, there are “additional slots” that provide one or two extra places depending on the weapon.

Can I further develop enhancements? As you can see, the skills have specific levels. You can improve these levels by applying augmentation. You can apply the second level after “Element/Status Effect Boost I”. However, this also requires more slots.
Enhancements with a Personal Touch
What are personal enhancements? In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, there are so-called personal enhancements. With these, you can, among other things, improve affinity or attack power.
The personal enhancements are referred to as remodels since you swap out individual parts. Additionally, they are dependent on specific monsters. Various monster remodels exist for the individual weapons.
The personal enhancements
You can freely combine personal enhancements with other augmentations. However, the personal enhancement will affect the appearance of your weapon. It will change according to the chosen monster.
Are there any restrictions? You cannot apply personal enhancements to every weapon. If you no longer wish to have the monster enhancement, you will receive back all materials. So you can experiment a bit. This also applies to the regular augmentations. The only exception is the two slot options.

The German streamer and YouTuber Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris announced his contract with the streaming platform Twitch. Where he is heading from March 1st is still unclear. Streaming on Facebook is “garbage.” He would probably prefer to stay on Twitch.
Where does the info come from? MontanaBlack visited the stream of Staiy and connected there via voice chat. Before that, he wrote in the chat that he had canceled his contract with Twitch.

Later he adds: “In today’s time, dude, where everything is so starting, when you hear ‘this and that is switching,’ you would be stupid not to at least try and see: Okay, I’m going to look at what’s going on in the market now.”
Where is the journey heading? There are no concrete plans yet about which platform MontanaBlack is targeting next. Visually, Mixer would resemble Twitch the most, MontanaBlack says.
Regarding “livestreaming on Facebook,” both streamers say that you would need to be offered a high sum for that.
“No matter what number you imagine, even if you imagine 8 million and you know you’re getting 8 million … the thought, even if you get 8 million, of streaming on Facebook is just garbage,” explains MontanaBlack.

And what about YouTube? MontanaBlack says that he can watch streams on the platform well because it visually feels familiar to him. But streaming there himself is a different story, as he thinks the livestream chat is not nice there.
His contract is likely to end on March 1, 2020, on Twitch.TV. How it will continue after that will likely become clear in the coming weeks.

But what comes next? Is Uldren now a Guardian, one of us? What will become of him? After all, he likely does not remember any of his misdeeds – while everyone else around him does.
From the next leader of the Hunter Vanguard to the curse-breaker in the Dreaming City – there are many theories about his future role. However, the fact remains that since this video sequence, nothing has been known about his whereabouts, his trail goes cold. But that could possibly change now.
What have the players discovered now? After Update 2.7.0 brought Season 9 to Destiny 2, Guardians have scoured the game’s data for new content. In the process, they stumbled upon the exotic ship Amnestia-S2 from the upcoming winter event The Dawn. The accompanying lore text revealed a big surprise.
It describes a lonely wandering Guardian, many are now firmly convinced that it can only be Uldren.
What does the lore say about his current whereabouts? The lore entry comes from Eva Levante, who runs the winter event at the Tower, and is titled “The Dawn Welcomes Everyone”.
It tells of a Guardian who has lived in a rusty container for the last three weeks – far away from the main paths where others roam. He tries to keep away from other Guardians as much as possible. If that cannot be avoided, he always keeps his helmet on.
All he has left are his worn-out gear, a ring, and a silk cloth – all things he woke up with. He wears the ring on a chain, the cloth serves as a kind of comforting memento of something he cannot remember. The fine cloth fabric often makes him wonder where he comes from and how much more beautiful it must have been there than the place where he currently is.
This mysterious Guardian spends his days completely alone, with only his Ghost by his side. That was the bitterest lesson since his rebirth – it is better to be alone. Because other Guardians embody a source of pain and confusion. Some react almost hostile to his presence, while others are overwhelmed with great sorrow when they see him. Yet he does not know or understand why. And the solitude seems to torment him.
Then one day he talks with his Ghost. The Ghost tells the Guardian that the inhabitants of the Last City are currently celebrating. They call it Dawn, says the Ghost. A celebration of friendship, hope, and warmth.
In the silence, the Guardian struggles against his bitterness. The silence is heavy and full of unspoken things. But no one speaks. Until the Ghost nudges him and says: “To make each other feel better, they wish each other a happy Dawn” After a brief silence, the Guardian finally replies: “Happy Dawn”.
As much as the Ghost can sometimes be annoying with his relentless optimism – he always stands by the Guardian, has never doubted him. And the Guardian will not disappoint him. Because there have already been too many disappointments in his life.
In short: The Guardian appears very depressed and lonely, apparently hates his current life, and imagines how much better his old life must have been. Yet he has been brought back into a life without any memory, where everyone hates him, and he cannot comprehend why. Therefore, he avoids others – even though the loneliness hurts him greatly.
Is the prince possibly returning to the spotlight soon? Currently, it is unknown – also not 100% sure if this is really Uldren. However, there are just too many parallels to the prince for it to be someone else, according to many fans. It can only be Uldren.
The interesting thing is: After Cayde’s death, many Guardians wanted to take bloody and brutal revenge on the prince, but the mood has already changed after his resurrection. Many are now curious about how it will go with him and can even imagine welcoming him as the new Vanguard Commander of the Hunters.
In the comments on this lore find, the mood has shifted even further. There is practically nothing left of the thirst for revenge. Many now have sympathy for Uldren and some even hope that he can be reconciled with.
After having a rough idea of what Uldren is currently experiencing through the lore, some wonder if he might soon return – possibly to the Tower for the Dawn Festival starting December 17?
After all, he also occasionally encounters other Guardians and isunlikely to remain unnoticed by the Vanguard, according to some fans. Moreover, the lore text by Eva Levante has a hopeful title: “The Dawn Welcomes Everyone”.

This possibility does not seem too far-fetched – even though the mysterious Guardian is apparently still wandering alone with his Ghost in the cold at the beginning of the Dawn event. Perhaps the festival of friendship, hope, and warmth will bring him back together with the other Guardians – after all, it lasts four weeks.
We will definitely keep a close eye on this development. And perhaps we will learn more shortly.

The open-world PvP has caused problems with the start of Phase 2 in WoW Classic. Battlegrounds were supposed to improve the negative mood.
The mood before the battlegrounds: Before Blizzard introduced the long-awaited PvP battlegrounds with WoW Classic Patch 1.13.3, there was already a very negative mood in the community. This was triggered by the open-world PvP of Phase 2.
No normal gameplay possible: With the introduction of the honor system, large PvP groups (Killsquads) formed everywhere, constantly farming areas for enemy players. In the end, it became about controlling these zones, so many could no longer properly quest and level up.
The PvP itself was also not a good experience due to the strong imbalance. On the German PvP server Lucifron, there were significantly more Horde players, leading the Alliance to gradually leave the server via character transfer.
Battlegrounds as a solution: Players described the PvP experience as too unbalanced, and it quickly led to the vocal demand of players to bring the battlegrounds earlier. They hoped that PvP players would spend more time in these instanced contents, making the open world more playable again.
Phase 2 and the PvP ruined it for many WoW Classic players.
PvP Battlegrounds miss their target
The plan is failing: After the two battlegrounds Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch have now been unlocked in WoW Classic, it is becoming increasingly clear that these could not improve the mood. On the contrary, it seems to be getting worse, as one can follow the numerous negative threads about them in the official forum.
The main reason is Alterac Valley. This battleground was introduced by Blizzard based on Patch 1.12. It therefore differs significantly from the initial experience in Vanilla. During the course of the patches of WoW Vanilla, the following changes were made.
Patch 1.8: The strength of NPCs was reduced by 30%
Patch 1.10: Korrak the Bloodrager was removed
Patch 1.11: A large part of the NPCs was removed from Alterac Valley
In Vanilla times, when Alterac Valley was introduced with Patch 1.5, it was not uncommon for a single match in the battleground to last several days. Especially the strength of the NPCs and their large number made it difficult to gain space on the battlefield.
The battleground with Patch 1.12 can be completed in a matter of minutes. The victory condition is to kill the opposing boss (Drek’thar or Vanndar Stormpike).
Alterac Valley was supposed to lift the mood, but that went wrong.
Rush-Rush for Honor
Through a simple “rush tactic”, where only that is done, there are very fast Alterac Valley matches. The factions do not fight each other but ride past each other, simply trying to defeat the NPC boss faster than the others.
Whether victory or defeat, quick honor is still earned, even if the winner obviously receives more.
This means a lot of reputation and a lot of honor per minute. Therefore, many players pursue this to be able to buy strong items from the reputation vendor and to rank up in the WoW Classic honor system in PvP.
This “rush mentality” creates bad vibes and frustration for many players. The official forum is full of new threads on this topic every day. Especially, the “rush Alterac Valley” also means that the second PvP battleground, Warsong Gulch, cannot keep up in terms of honor farming.
There is no rush tactic there, and so it takes longer since it requires coordination and strategy.

Players demand the “real” Alterac Valley
What players criticize about Alterac Valley: Player Melandrá stated in the official forum:
Alterac destroys PvP and the honor system.
There are over 3000 honor every 10 minutes for doing nothing. WS gives significantly less with more time spent, and you actually have to play well to win.
These 20 min AVs are already disappointing… If you remember how amazing it was back then when an AV actually lasted over 10 hours – that was epic.
Player Pewpewtwo also expresses himself in the same direction (via official forum):
Where are the good old times in AV, where you played there for 3 days? You logged out and the next day the AV was still running 😉 Where you used to summon the creatures.
Nowadays, it’s just rushing, quickly farming honor AFK, and boom, signing up for the next AV.
That’s why these players wish for the Alterac Valley from the early days of Vanilla back.
Not all players see it so negatively
There are also opposing voices: Player Chickadee expressed himself in the official forum about the criticism that Warsong Gulch is not worthwhile due to Alterac Valley.
What if we just play the game for fun and not for the rewards? You’re not a dog to do everything just to get a reward.
It has been known for ages that it runs in phases based on which patch version we are playing. So it was clear that this would happen. But yes, that can be ignored. According to this reasoning, Blizzard should provide a new version for everyone… Somewhere compromises have to be made. If this doesn’t suit you, you have to accept it or just leave. This whining is what completely ruined retail over the years.
Indeed, Blizzard already announced in March 2019 that the battleground Alterac Valley would be introduced based on Patch 1.12. Thus, it was clear what this would mean for the game. Blizzard itself saw this as the state of Alterac Valley that feels best (via GameStar).
Nevertheless, there are currently a multitude of complaint threads in the official forum and announcements to cancel WoW subscriptions. The mood is therefore probably no better than before the introduction of the battlegrounds. They were specifically removed from WoW Classic Phase 3 to address the problems with open-world PvP.

You discover the story through the world itself
You are not given any cinematics or a linear storyline. You discover bits of lore all over the world. Scot explained how storytelling works in New World:
You find things like pages from books written by people who were there before you. You can then piece the pages together. You read only one interpretation of the person, how they experienced Aeternum and explained the mysteries themselves. You overlay your own interpretation on top of it. We will add more such things throughout the game.

The Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys encounters a little boy in a match of Fortnite who helps her to a victory in the game. We show you what happened during this encounter.
Who is this streamer? Imane “Pokimane” Anys is a well-known Twitch streamer who frequently plays Fortnite. In her streams, she occasionally plays with randoms (players who are randomly assigned online).

This is different about Xur now: Many had wished for random rolls for the stats of the exotic armor pieces offered by Xur. However, this will unfortunately not be available in Season 9 – at least not for direct purchases. Bungie has already confirmed this.
However, what will change is the Fate Engram of the mysterious Exotic vendor. It has been updated, and Xur will now offer an updated exotic engram instead.
From it, you can get missing exotic items. After you have all the exotic weapons available from Xur in your collection, this engram will exclusively contain armor exotics – once a week and with random rolls. By the way, the new exotic armor pieces from Season 9 can also drop for you there.
