Call of Duty: Modern Warfare keeps players entertained with seasons and battle pass. However, the 100 tiers require considerable time to unlock. With these 7 tips, you can level up the battle pass faster and get the best rewards.
How does the CoD battle pass work? The battle pass of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers CoD soldiers a variety of rewards and extras.
The current pass comes in two varieties, a paid premium version and a free version. The tiers are the same in both passes, but buyers receive up to 104 rewards, while the free battle pass only has slightly over 20 benefits planned.
We have compiled all important information about Season 1 and the battle pass for you here.
Each season a new battle pass in CoD Modern Warfare
How can I use the battle pass? The pass is available for every player and you don’t need to do anything but play, and you will level up the tiers automatically.
The premium version costs 1,000 CoD points and is especially worthwhile for frequent players. You can find out how to save money with the battle pass here.
Does the battle pass have a limited duration? The battle pass for Season 1 is designed for a little more than 60 days. The developers have thus planned nearly 2 months for the 100 tiers.
How long does leveling take? Depending on how you perform and earn experience points, you will slowly rise through the tiers of the pass. Initial tests have shown that it can take a good hour of gameplay to reach a new level.
Each tier takes the same amount of time, and the required points do not increase with the rise.
To complete the 100 tiers, you should aim to unlock about 1.5 tiers each day. This guide will show you how to shorten this time.
Level up the Modern Warfare battle pass in no time – 7 tips
Leveling up the battle pass takes considerable time. With a few small tricks, you can earn a good amount of experience points, but sometimes you’ll need to adjust your play style.
Tip 1 – Battle pass missions
What are battle pass missions? The pass comes with operator skins for the multiplayer characters. The skins are only available in the premium version, and upon reaching the correct tier, missions will be unlocked that give further variants of the skin and additional rewards.
You can find the tasks in the “Missions & Challenges” menu under the “Headquarters” menu tab.
If you reach battle pass tier 40 in Season 1, you will not only get a skin of the operator “Minotaur”, but also a series of tasks. The missions are relatively easy to complete and also bring additional cosmetics and experience points.
Here is the example from Season 1 – Battle Pass Tier 40, missions and rewards:
- Achieve 15 LMG kills
- 750 XP + calling card
- Achieve 5 kills from close range
- 1,000 XP + operator skin
- Achieve 5 kills with special ammunition
- 1,250 XP + operator catchphrase
- Achieve 15 kills while using the perk Battle Hardened
- 2,000 XP + operator skin
Tip 2 – General missions
How do I use the regular CoD missions? Since the launch of Modern Warfare, you have been able to choose missions yourself under the “Headquarters” tab and thus unlock in-game items and experience points.
There are daily missions that run alongside and bring in a lot of XP, while the effort is usually manageable. Today (December 4, 2019), for example, there is a mission online where you simply need to use the field upgrade 15 times (e.g., ammunition box) to receive 4,500 XP.
Then there are missions that you can set manually. These tasks are a bit more challenging but also yield a lot of items and experience points.
However, you can only activate one mission at a time! This way, these missions compete with the tasks from the first tip. If you have the premium pass, do the missions from tip 1. It is still unclear how long they will be available.
Tip 3 – Officer rank challenges
What are these challenges? With Modern Warfare 2019, the well-known prestige system was abolished and replaced by officer ranks. There are 100 tiers in total, each tied to a task that raises your rank beyond the actual max level of 55.
At the start of a new season, these officer rank challenges reset and bring new tasks with XP rewards. Some of the tasks are easy to complete, and you will already unlock some on the side. Others are tough and require an adjustment in play style.
If you have already reached level 55, check the “Officer Rank Challenges” tab and look for some tasks you can complete on the side.
Tip 4 – Use your tokens and tickets
Which ones and what should I use? Modern Warfare offers XP tokens and trial tickets, which you receive occasionally from the game. Both units can bring you a ton of XP.
What are XP tokens? On the main screen of multiplayer, you will see a box in the bottom right saying “XP tokens available” if you currently possess tokens. You can use them to double your XP or weapon XP for a short time.
There are different versions with short and longer durations. However, be aware that the time runs from the moment of activation and does not only count for the game minutes. A 15-minute token will indeed expire after 15 minutes.
How can I play the trials? Introduced as tutorials in some CoD generations, trials have now made their way into multiplayer. Starting at level 55, you will receive trial tickets for this solo mode, sending you to various courses.
You have 3 attempts for the practice and can earn up to 10,000 XP for completion. Since the courses take a maximum of 1 – 2 minutes to complete, the trials are well worth it and it’s a lot of fun to go for records.
It’s best to activate an XP token when playing trials. Save some tickets, activate a token, and play a few rounds of trials consecutively. This way, you get the best of both worlds.
Tip 5 – Game modes with good survival chances
What does this mean? There are many game modes in the multiplayer of Modern Warfare, and not all give the same amount of XP. Choose modes where you can survive for long and set up killstreaks.
Play modes with specific objectives, like domination or headquarters, and participate in scoring and objectives. This way, you can earn tons of points while completing missions and challenges.
If you like the Ground War mode, it’s excellent for earning many points. However, the large maps are not to everyone’s taste, even though some old Modern Warfare maps are now integrated into the areas.
Tip 6 – Tier boosters
And can I only rank up by playing? There is also a much faster method to climb the tiers, namely tier boosters.
The battle pass for Season 1 offered a battle pass bundle at the start for 2,400 CoD points. Such a bundle allows you to advance 20 tiers, saving time and already unlocking battle pass missions.
Whether it’s worth it for you is something you’ll have to decide. However, if you want all 104 rewards from the battle pass, you might want to grab it. It doesn’t matter if you get the bundle now or later; the tiers are still available.
But even without the bundle, you can buy tiers. Each tier costs an additional 150 CoD points, meaning without discounts it’s €1.50. Here’s the calculation with discounts for the entire battle pass:
- Battle pass bundle + all 80 tiers
- 2,400 + 12,000 = 14,400 CoD points
- 13,000 points package + 1,100 points package + 500 points package
- €99.99 + €9.99 + €4.99 = €114.97
For just under €115, you could theoretically snag the complete battle pass without lifting a finger in-game.
Tip 7 – A trick on the PS4
Recently, players discovered a trick that allows you to comfortably level up your battle pass rank without really having to do much. This only works on the PlayStation 4, as the method is tied to the survival mode and is PS4-exclusive for a year.
If you prepare everything and then hide in a safe spot, you can basically just lay the controller down and pursue a completely different activity.
However, you let the game run, and during this time, you continue to make progress in the battle pass. This trick will likely be patched soon, but currently, it still works – even after the latest Modern Warfare update from December 6.
