In Destiny 2, the name of a season can reveal a lot. So Bungie keeps it under wraps until the last moment. However, there are data miners who dig deep into Bungie’s code to discover the first secret information.
One of the most well-known in the Destiny 2 community is certainly Ginsor. He has not only published several leaks himself but also pointed others in the right direction, like Josh Hunt.
On August 20, Hunt published an overview on his Twitter account, which supposedly also contains the name of the new Season 18.
He also states that he believes the information is quite reliable and adds: “Nothing is 100 % true until Bungie announces it officially. However, this came (accidentally) from Bungie, so I’m quite confident.“
According to his publication, the new Season 18 in Destiny 2 would be called “Season of the Plunder”. In German, it might mean “Saison der Plünderung” or “Saison der Plünderer”.
Moreover, he mentions story content, such as a Ketch crash, and even the new seasonal activities that are supposedly called “Expedition” and “Hideouts”.
Leak also shows release hints: In his post, one also discovers the name “Nebula”. This is likely the codename for the new Lightfall expansion within Bungie, which could indicate further announcements about it.
By the way, Ginsor said: “Lightfall looks like a mix of Mass Effect and Cyberpunk“. If this is true, then Bungie’s latest expansion in 2023 could cause quite a stir among interested Guardians, just like Witch Queen did.

Prediction 2: The Shipstealer will be resurrected.
Prediction 3: A besieged city.
Prediction 4: A traveler infected by darkness.
In Prediction number 2, it is strongly suspected that the Shipstealer refers to Eramis, the main antagonist from “Beyond Light”. And she is known to be not dead. She was merely frozen on Europa, and her Fallen house scattered to the winds – left without leadership.
Considering name leaks for Season 18, this may hint at plundering Fallen. Additionally, a hint from Josh Hunt also mentioned a “Ketch crash callout”.
Whatever awaits us in Season 18, if the currently frozen Eramis plays a role in it, she will either be on the side of the Guardians or on the side of darkness.
Bungie fueled this rumor, by the way, with a recently released short video that asked: “…who will break the ice?“
This suggests either that the Guardians must free Eramis from her ice prison.
