The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online will soon receive Update 35 and the dungeon DLC “Lost Depths”. This continues the storyline “Legacy of the Bretons”. MeinMMO provides an overview of the most important new features.

What are the biggest new features of Lost Depths?

As usual, a dungeon DLC brings 2 new dungeons to ESO. We will briefly introduce them here.

The new dungeon “Kentertiefen”

What bosses can you expect in Kentertiefen?

• Euphotischer Torwächter – The first boss is a Hadoliden with a two-handed weapon, who moves a lot during the fight.
• Varzunon – The 2nd boss of the dungeon is a bone colossus who can summon skeleton adds.
• Zelvraak – The final boss of the dungeon is a powerful lich.

What secret bosses can you expect in Kentertiefen?

• Mzugru – Defeating this boss gives all group members 10% more maximum health. However, damage taken will reduce damage by 50% for 3 seconds (40s cooldown).
• Xzyviian – Defeating this boss grants you 10% additional maximum Magicka. You can also activate a synergy for additional damage.
• Chralzak – Defeating this boss gives you 10% additional maximum stamina. You also receive additional stamina regeneration when your stamina is low (60s cooldown).

Additionally, you will encounter completely new creatures in ESO: the Pangrit. They are described as small, beast-like creatures that live alongside the Hadoliden. They visually resemble the already known Guar.

What sets are available in Kentertiefen?

You can obtain a light, medium, and heavy set with 5 pieces. Additionally, there is a set piece of the respective monster set for the head in veteran mode (even without hard mode). You receive this set piece randomly in light, medium, or heavy.

• Inevitability of the Grave (light)
  • 2 – 657 rating on critical hits
  • 3 – 129 Magicka and weapon power
  • 4 – 657 rating on critical hits
  • 5 – When you deal damage with a light or heavy attack, you gain up to one of 5 accumulations of Merciless for 5 seconds, once every 0.5 seconds. As long as you possess 5 accumulations, you emit an Aura of Focus. You gain increased power, increasing your critical damage by 20%. While you have an Aura of Focus, allies within 12 meters gain minor power, increasing their damage done by 10%.
• Pylactery’s Grip (medium)
  • 2 – 129 Magicka and weapon power
  • 3 – 657 rating on critical hits
  • 4 – 657 rating on critical hits
  • 5 – If you deal critical damage with light attacks, you apply withered soul to your target, dealing damage over 10 seconds. If an enemy is already affected by withered soul, you restore 575 stamina. Withered soul can occur only once every 10 seconds, and the damage scales with your Magicka or weapon power, whichever is higher.
• Pangrit Mother (heavy)
  • 2 – 4% incoming healing
  • 3 – 1,487 armor
  • 4 – 129 health regeneration
  • 5 – 1,890 maximum stamina
  • 5 – When you block, you and up to 3 group members within 12 meters receive Minor Courage for 10 seconds, increasing your Magicka and weapon power by 215. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.
• Euphotischer Torhüter (Monster Set)
  • 1 – 129 stamina regeneration
  • 2 – When you dodge roll, it creates a Hadoliden shell. If you are within 5 meters of the Hadoliden shell, it absorbs all incoming direct-damage attacks. After 1 second, the Hadoliden shell explodes, dealing poison damage to all enemies within 5 meters. This effect can occur once every 20 seconds and scales with your Magicka or weapon power, whichever is higher.

The new dungeon “Erdwurz-Enklave”

What bosses can you expect in the Erdwurz-Enklave?

• Corruption of the Stone – This boss is a stone dragon.
• Corruption of the Root – This boss is a Lumi who summons adds.
• Archdruid Devyric – The humanoid enemy transforms into a bear during the fight. You should be prepared for some lightning attacks from him.

What secret bosses can you expect in the Erdwurz-Enklave?

• Burnt Roots – Defeating this boss grants all group members 500 additional weapon & magic damage.
• Lutea – Defeating this boss grants all group members an additional 30% stamina & magicka regeneration.
• Jodoro – Defeating this boss grants all group members 3,000 additional HP. Damage taken is also reduced by 10%.

What sets are available here?

Just like in the other dungeon, you also receive 3 different five-piece sets here. Additionally, you can obtain the head piece for the monster set in veteran mode.

• Stone Accord (light)
  • 2 – 1,096 maximum Magicka
  • 3 – 4% healing done
  • 4 – 1,096 maximum Magicka
  • 5 – If you heal with an area effect, you grant healed allies Minor Berserk and Minor Resolve for 4 seconds. If a healed ally already has Minor Berserk or Minor Resolve from Stone Accord, you restore 550 Magicka. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.
• Wrath of the Ursauk (medium)
  • 4 – 1,487 offensive penetration
  • 4 – 1,487 offensive penetration
  • 4 – 657 rating on critical hits
  • If you deal damage with a heavy attack, you create a 12-meter area for 12 seconds that grants Empower to all allies in it, increasing their damage through light and heavy attacks by 1,800. This effect can occur once every 8 seconds.
• Deeproot Zeal (heavy)
  • 2 – 1,096 maximum stamina
  • 2 – 1,096 maximum Magicka
  • 4 – 1,206 maximum health
  • 5 – If you deal direct damage to a taunted target, you restore 525 Magicka and stamina. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds.
• Archdruid Devyric (Monster Set)
  • 1 – 1,487 offensive penetration
  • 2 – If you deal damage with a heavy attack, you deal shock damage to up to 6 enemies in a cone up to 7 meters behind your target after 1.2 seconds, applying greater vulnerability to them, increasing the damage they take by 10%. This effect can occur every 15 seconds and scales with your Magicka or weapon power, whichever is higher.

What are the most important changes that affect all players?

Along with the dungeon DLC, Update 35 will be released, which affects all players. This is regardless of whether you have access to the DLC or not.

Changes to the combat system

The planned changes to the combat system were a major topic of discussion. Many expressed dissatisfaction with the planning. You can learn more about it in our post:

What changes to the combat system were originally planned? The change refers to light and heavy attacks and combat effects:

• The damage from light and heavy attacks no longer scales with attributes. This reduces damage by 6 – 11%.
• Combat effects that provide you with buffs and increase your damage will last longer.

However, ZOS has somewhat backtracked due to the criticism, with Gilliam from ZOS’s Combat Team announcing the following plan change in the ESO forum:

• “Ongoing” effects over time maintain their revised duration of 20 seconds or more, a 2-second interval, and a strength coefficient per second of 105 (their scaling divided by the duration) with base costs of 135 per second (2,700+).
• Static effects over time regain their original duration of 10 to 15 seconds, a 1 second interval, and a strength coefficient per second of 0.14. Compared to regular servers (0.1575), this still falls but not as much as before (0.105). The base costs remain at 270 per second (2,700+).

Prologue quest for Update 36: “The Druid King’s Excess”

This is how you can start the prologue quest for Update 36:

• Obtain the free quest “Letter from Druidine Laurel” from the Crown Store (or)
• Depending on which alliance you belong to, head to Daggerfall, Davon’s Watch, or Vulkhel Guard, find Druidine Laurel from the Stone Lore and speak with her.

By completing the quest, you will receive an action: Blossom Presentation.

New sets from PvP

You can now obtain the following sets from the justice reward:

• Peryite’s Weakening (light)
  • 2 – 129 Magicka and weapon power
  • 3 – 424 resistance to critical hits
  • 4 – 1,487 offensive penetration
  • 5 – You deal 6% increased damage to players who block. If you deal damage to an enemy who is immune to crowd control with light attacks, weakness is applied for 10 seconds, reducing their Magicka and stamina regeneration by 248. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.

• Nocturnal’s Deceit (medium)
  • 4 – 1,487 offensive penetration
  • 3 – 424 resistance to critical hits
  • 4 – 129 stamina regeneration
  • 5 – If you impair an enemy with a greater impairment, a greater enhancement with duration is removed from the target. If you impair an enemy with a lesser impairment, a lesser enhancement with duration is removed from the target. These effects can occur once every 2 seconds.

• Maras’ Comfort (heavy)
  • 2 – 1,487 armor
  • 3 – 424 resistance to critical hits
  • 4 – 4% incoming healing
  • 5 – If a negative effect is removed from you, 2,111 health is restored. If you take damage and have at least 6 negative effects, all negative effects are cleansed. This effect can occur once every 15 seconds.

Is it worth starting with ESO with Lost Depths?

Since the release of the base game, many features have been added to make it easier to start with the MMORPG. The most important features are briefly introduced here:

• The Companions have been helping you in combat since the Blackwood chapter – If you want to learn more about them, check out our guide on Companions Mirri Elendis and Bastian Hallix or our guide on Companions Isobel Veloise and Funke.
• OneTamriel – You can travel to any region, and everything scales so that it matches your level.
• Level-up rewards – You receive additional rewards upon leveling up that are useful.
• Group Finder – You can queue for dungeons without having a fixed group.
• Area Guide – The area guide can be accessed from the map menu (M), giving you an overview of your quest progress in that area.
• Faster leveling – With the change to the champion point system, the amount of experience points required for CP leveling (up to CP 1800) has been significantly reduced.
• A new tutorial – The new tutorial was introduced with the Blackwood chapter. In it, you learn the first steps of the game, and at the end of your exploration, you can choose where in ESO you want to start. You can enter the locations through portals.
