Rudi Völler will be part of FIFA 23: The German football legend will be playable in Ultimate Team. At the same time, EA announced more heroes – including two players who actually had a higher status.
This is how Völler gets into the game: Rudi Völler will be one of the new hero cards in FIFA 23. The former German forward will be assigned to Serie A – Völler played for AS Roma for five years.
Before his time in Rome, Völler played for Kickers Offenbach and 1860 Munich, spent a very successful time at Werder Bremen, then went to Italy and later played for Olympique Marseille. Many will also remember him as the national coach of the German national team, including the runner-up finish in the 2002 World Cup, or as the head of Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Völler celebrated his greatest success in 1990 as a player of the German World Cup team. He is one of the most successful strikers of the national team, with 47 goals in 90 matches.
A career that would have also suited an Icon card – this status is given to the greatest football legends in Ultimate Team. Völler will receive a hero card in FIFA 23, including superhero design:
However, there is still no rating for Völler.
At the same time, FIFA 23 announced more heroes – and there are two former icons included.
Two Icons are no longer Legends in FIFA 23
Which Icons are they? Both Okocha and Nakata will no longer be classified as icons in FIFA 23, but rather as “only” heroes. A leak had already hinted at this – now it has actually happened.
Neither belong to the top icons in FIFA. Okocha was still a popular card as a “beginner icon” because he could score with strong skills. Especially Nakata’s icon card had rather the reputation of being a bitter pill for many players when you pulled him from an icon pack – simply because there were many better cards.
However, the “demotion” could also be an opportunity – because in the new chemistry system of FIFA 23, heroes are quite valuable.
They give players of the same league two chemistry points and players from the same country one. Okocha will be assigned to Ligue 1, Nakata to Serie A – this could make them very popular as chemistry suppliers.
In addition, EA announced three more new heroes:
- Capdevila
- Smolarek
- Alo-Owairan
Overall, FUT heroes seem to be taking on an even greater significance this year than last year. Although ratings are still missing, it is expected that they will not be weak. Whether and how much stronger icons will be compared to heroes remains to be seen.
