LoL: 30-year-old tech billionaire completely messes it up, that even his favorite game distances itself from him

Until a few weeks ago, entrepreneur Samuel Bankman-Fried was the shining golden boy of crypto exchanges, with a fortune estimated at over 20 billion US dollars, and he had a big deal with Riot Games running, who distribute his favorite game League of Legends . But all of that changed in the last few weeks. In a filing to the court, it now sounds like Riot Games wishes Sam Bankman-Fried had never discovered LoL for himself.

How did the man become so rich?

  • Sam Bankman-Fried started as an intern in 2013 at a company that trades financial instruments and fully joined after graduating from MIT. In the following years, he made a fortune with stock trading.
  • In 2019, he founded the crypto exchange FTX, and his fortune grew to 26 billion US dollars during that time.
  • He was regarded as a visionary, someone who truly understood the big hype topic “crypto”.

Company of crypto genius enters million-dollar deals with TSM and LCS

What does he have to do with League of Legends? Sam Bankman-Fried referred to LoL as his favorite hobby. He said he spent much more time on it than one would expect from someone who regularly prefers to work instead of sleep.

It was said that he closed huge deals and sold investors his visions while he was actually playing LoL. Although he wasn’t that good at LoL, still.

His enthusiasm for LoL also became part of his business when he made a big deal with the LoL team TSM in June 2021: Since then, TSM has appeared as “TSM FTX”.

In August 2022, he also closed a massive deal with Riot Games worth 96 million US dollars. His crypto exchange FTX became a sponsor of LoL’s US League LCS: Over 12.5 million $ were to flow into Riot Games’ coffers every year. However, only the first installment of 6.25 million $ was paid.

Life and wealth of crypto genius collapses within days

What went wrong? In November 2022, the life and wealth of Sam Bankman-Fried collapsed. On a single day in November, on 8.11.2022, FTX got into serious trouble: As investor confidence in the crypto exchange faded, 94% of Sam Bankman-Fried’s wealth also disappeared into thin air.

In the weeks that followed, it became clear that the crypto exchange had been operating with unscrupulous business practices. FTX filed for bankruptcy.

On December 12, 2022, Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas.

“Monetary and non-monetary damage occurred”

This is how Riot Games reacts now: Riot Games has now detailed their view of things in a 22-page filing to the bankruptcy court in Delaware (via courtlistener).

They see themselves severely harmed by the fact that Sam Bankman-Fried was seen as so closely associated with his favorite game League of Legends and say that they have suffered “monetary and non-monetary damages”:

Before and during the media firestorm, Riot’s image and reputation with the customer base were inextricably linked to FTX through the former CEO Mr. Bankman-Fried. Media companies and Twitter commentators spread the image of Mr. Bankman-Fried playing League of Legends – the game from Riot Games – at the same time FTX was going under.

Mr. Bankman-Fried is famous for his dedication to the game. It is well known among investors that he played LoL during meetings.

Riot Games lists in detail the collapse of FTX and the mistakes of Sam Bankman-Fried over 22 pages.

Meanwhile, they emphasize their own high moral standards and mention a clause that allows Riot Games to terminate such contracts in case of moral wrongdoing.

These images created a public narrative that Mr. Bankman-Fried’s interest in League of Legends, once seen as human and relatable, was now irresponsible and juvenile. Articles that described the situation as a “hellscape” contributed to the public disgust for FTX.

Apparently, Riot is now also planning to quickly get out of the deal because they intend to close a deal with another crypto exchange, and FTX currently blocks that spot.

From the idea that FTX could stick to the lucrative deal, Riot Games has long given up. And apparently, they would have preferred to have had nothing to do with Sam Bankman-Fried in recent weeks.

Buy Diablo 4 with WoW Gold – How long do I need for that?

The new action RPG Diablo 4 is now available for pre-order. The first fans have already bought the game – some of them without paying directly for it. They simply used money from World of Warcraft for that. MeinMMO explains how this works and what you need to pay attention to.

How does the purchase work? For several years now, there has been the so-called “WoW Token” in World of Warcraft. This has two functions:

  • you can buy it for €20 and then sell it to other players for gold in the game
  • you can buy it in the game for gold and then redeem it for playtime or €13 credit in Battle.net
  • in the guide, we explain to you how to properly use the WoW Token

The current price of the token is determined by the supply and demand of players in a region and is not set by Blizzard. The credit can be used to purchase other games like Call of Duty or the upcoming Diablo 4.

We explain here what is included in the editions of Diablo 4 and for whom the collector’s box is intended and in the article here how long it takes to earn the editions in WoW.

If you pre-order Diablo 4, you will also be able to participate in the closed beta, which is supposed to take place before the release on June 6. You can already find the first impressions from various testers in the first reports on Diablo 4. You can see the latest trailer here:

Start video
Diablo 4: The trailer for the release date

20 hours of WoW for the most expensive version of Diablo 4

This is how long you need for the purchase: You can earn gold in World of Warcraft from many different sources. You get a significant amount while leveling up, but most of it comes from targeted “farming” at maximum level.

Various guides, for example on YouTube, promise an average of 80,000-120,000 gold per hour. MeinMMO demon Cortyn has also found a way to earn 600,000 gold in 6 hours without much effort.

Your earnings always depend on what exactly you find and how much you can get for it in the auction house. A token currently costs 258,965 gold on EU servers (as of December 19). So you would need for the purchase of Diablo 4:

Each decimal place is rounded up here because you cannot buy half tokens, but always need a full one. The collector’s box without the game cannot be bought with tokens, as you can only buy it in the Blizzard Gear Store. However, you cannot pay with Battle.net credit there.

Will it stay that way permanently? The token is currently at its lowest level in months (via wowtokenprices.com). This is partly because many players want to quickly accumulate gold with the release of Dragonflight and are buying tokens for that.

Traditionally, tokens become cheaper at a release and more expensive towards the end of an expansion. However, Dragonflight rewards you with quite large amounts of gold, which could mean that prices will not rise significantly for the time being.

At the moment, it is therefore difficult to say whether the token will soon rise significantly or even drop further.

Is it legal? Yes, Blizzard explicitly allows the use of Battle.net credit to purchase digital goods in the store. You should just not obtain gold from third-party sources, as this would violate the terms of use.

Diablo 4 will also have a battle pass with a paid path. You will probably be able to buy it with WoW gold as soon as it is released:

Twitch streamer Trymacs reveals genius strategy against annoying comments – „Really dirty“

The Hamburger Maximilian Stemmler (28) has, as Trymacs, a million audience on Twitch and YouTube. He says: Again and again there are people who want to benefit from his reach. In a stream, Trymacs revealed how he creatively punishes annoying commentators – and the affected have no idea.

What comments is it about? In a stream, Trymacs explained which comments annoy him the most. It’s mainly about people who try to provoke reactions on purpose:

  • Comments in the style of “Trymacs doesn’t read his comments,” that challenge him to prove otherwise by leaving a like for the writers
  • Comments with advertising for their own channel from people who want to benefit from Trymacs’ reach and pretend to be fans

Trymacs gives people secret shadow bans

This is how Trymacs deals with the comments: Trymacs has come up with a special strategy to handle the annoying comments – and at the same time have fun. Because if he just banned them, according to the logic of the streamer, the commentators would get away too easily.

Instead, Trymacs distributes something he calls “Ghost Perma Bans”: The affected do not realize they are banned and can keep commenting — except for themselves, no one sees the comments. Consequently, they also get no reactions.

Thinking about the fact that people might have been writing the same thing under his videos for years and never receiving the desired attention, Trymacs feels mischievous:

Writing a comment under every video for 3 years hoping that you think someone sees it. And you’ve been doing it for 3 years and you get no response or like on any comment or anyone goes to your videos, that is the great punishment.

How many people has Trymacs banned this way? The streamer does not reveal an exact number, but it seems to be a larger number: “You don’t even know how many people I have permanently banned on YouTube.”

Some viewers are not so enthusiastic – one person finds the behavior “childish” but fears they might be banned for an honest answer.

It’s unclear how many comments are under the video that no one sees – and how many commenters might have realized while watching why they never receive reactions.

In addition to his appearances on Twitch and YouTube, Trymacs will soon be seen again on Joyn:

What are the reactions? Under the clip where Trymacs reveals his method, there are numerous positive reactions. That is one of the best ways to deal with trolls, writes a fan (via YouTube).

Other reactions range from “funny” to “diabolical” and “sadistic.” Trymacs’ own schadenfreude seems to be well received.

WoW wanted ‘less swimwear’, now brings sexy chain bikinis

In World of Warcraft Dragonflight there will soon be sexy clothing. You can expect CCChain bikinisCC – and they look really good.

In World of Warcraft, there are many different contents, but one wish unites almost all players: The ability to continuously customize their character and give him or her a unique look. Therefore, WoW has been introducing more and more customization options in recent years.

This was discovered: The data miners from wowhead are actively analyzing patch 10.0.5 and are finding new interesting content almost daily. A small detail has now caught attention because it shows armor that has not existed in World of Warcraft before – or at least no items of this kind have been added to the game since CCvanillaC.

We are talking about one of the biggest “game cliches” that exist in fantasy games: chain bikinis.

WoW Chain Mail Bikini on Female Human
This is what the good piece looks like on women. Image source: wowhead

The bikinis come in 4 different colors: dark green, brown, black-red, and red-black (inverse colors).

WoW Chain Mail Bikini on Male Human
This is what it would look like on men. Image source: wowhead

How do you get the chain bikinis? It is still not entirely clear how to obtain these new chain bikinis. However, the most likely scenario seems to be that the chain bikinis will land in the trading post. This is a new feature that Blizzard has announced for patch 10.0.5. Players receive a special currency here monthly, which they can use to purchase new cosmetic rewards – among them mounts, toys, and also transmog items. A bikini like this could definitely be conceivable.

Why didn’t WoW want bikinis anymore? At the time of CCCataclysmC, there was a significant discussion about the portrayal of women in World of Warcraft. At BlizzCon, Chris Metzen stated that he had watched the end video of Cataclysm with his daughter, who asked him: “Why are all the women wearing swimsuits?” He had no answer at the time. Since then, the portrayal of women in WoW has significantly changed, and “provocative” clothing has decreased in many cases.

What do you think of the bikinis? Cool that there will be something like that in World of Warcraft soon? Or does it not belong in Azeroth?

What else is in patch 10.0.5, we will tell you here.

Most famous Genshin Impact leaker quits because the developers are trying to find him

Leaks from UBatcha1 regularly revealed upcoming content from Genshin Impact. After the developers started searching for the identity of the person, they are now throwing in the towel.

Upcoming characters, events and new bosses – Thanks to UBatcha, fans of the action RPG Genshin Impact often knew which content the developers would bring to the game soon.

In contrast, Cognosphere, the publisher of Genshin Impact, now wants to take active measures. They initiated a subpoena against Discord – a legal process to find out the identity of leakers. This includes name, phone number, and address.

UBatcha deletes all content

The person has since removed all content that might violate copyright. The Discord server of UBatcha itself and the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor (WFP) server have stopped their postings. Everything is also gone from Twitter.

UBatcha released a statement in 5 tweets. In it, the person states that they were never contacted directly by HoYoverse.

They only received a warning through their own Discord server that the account should no longer disclose any information.

Discord did not explain exactly which content the subpoena refers to. Therefore, the person decided to delete all content directly.

“I should just use this account for random tweets, but I’ve never used social media for personal matters before. We will see,” is the last tweet made by UBatcha.

2 new dungeons in WoW Dragonflight are currently causing frustration and hundreds of deaths: “This is brutal”

Season 1 finally opened the mythical key stone dungeons for WoW Dragonflight. Many players are now trying to complete the highest keys possible. However, two of the dungeons are so tough that there are even comics about the agony they represent.

What are those dungeons? The Ruby Life Pools and the Algeth’ar Academy are 2 of the 8 dungeons that are in Season 1 of Dragonflight in the Mythic+ rotation. Besides these, only the Assault of the Nokhud and the Azure Vault from Dragonflight are new, while the other dungeons come from old expansions.

The Ruby Life Pools and the Algeth’ar Academy are currently causing a lot of memes and threads in the World of Warcraft subreddit. Players are complaining that the two dungeons are too hard.

Mythic+ requires you to complete dungeons within a specified time with additional difficulty. However, that seems simply impossible for most players at a certain level right now. Even the popular webcomic Dark Legacy Comics has published a new strip about this:

How hard are the dungeons? For the Ruby Life Pools, 30 minutes is given. However, one player shows a picture, where he and his group finished only after 141 minutes. The group accumulated an impressive 192 deaths. Kudos at this point for perseverance.

It looks similar at the Academy. A user shows their completion after over 100 minutes with 123 deaths in the team. The timer requires 32 minutes for an upgrade of the key.

The two posts are not the only ones. Currently, the dungeons are one of the biggest topics in the subreddit, and more and more players are sharing their woeful results.

You can find all information about Dragonflight in our special here. In the trailer, you see the most important features at a glance:

Start video
WoW shows the main features of Dragonflight in the gameplay trailer, fans praise: “Finally hype again”

“Is it me, or are the M+-dungeons hell for casters?!”

What makes the dungeons so hard? The season is already a bit tougher at the beginning of the expansion because players simply lack the gear. Hardly anyone is wearing the sets from the raid or already has significant gear from the dungeons.

This is visible in the DPS ranking of the season, which still shows strong fluctuations and has much room for improvement. This will likely only change with the reset on December 21, when the Great Vault can be opened for the first time.

Especially in the two aforementioned dungeons, there are further factors that make them almost unplayable at the moment:

  • The affix “Sanguine” requires casters and healers to interrupt their spells often to avoid being incapacitated.
  • At the same time, there are enemies in both dungeons that can interrupt spells on their own. Hence, you often can’t get a spell off.
  • Additionally, all non-bosses (“trash”) fall into a rage at 30% health and deal more damage, which only a few classes can prevent. Enhanced trash also gets stronger.

Specific enemies like the dragons in the Ruby Life Pools are already borderline concerning regarding damage. Due to the combination of affixes and effects, they sometimes deal nearly unhealable damage or kill players outright.

You can vote for which dungeon you like best in Season 1 here:

In the Academy, many players complain about the “Tree Boss,” the Overgrown Urtum. He has quite nasty mechanics like a stackable poison DoT if the adds are not played correctly. Since the affix “Tyrannical” is coming up next week, which strengthens bosses, many players see a grim future for the dungeon.

Is it even possible to get through? Some players report that they explicitly say in their groups: “Take it slow, pull group by group. It’s enough if we play the key within the time, even if we have only one second left.” This way it can be manageable.

Blizzard has already announced nerfs for the dungeons. Additionally, there are strong buffs for 7 classes that may make the key stones a bit easier.

However, there are also general complaints from healers that they are having a pretty hard job right now. Healers were passively nerfed in Dragonflight and right now, at the start of the expansion, it is hard to keep up.

I can fully relate to this experience. As a Caller, I jump in as a healer quite often at the moment, whether in Mythic+ or even in the raid, because healing simply isn’t enough at times. Right now, healing is truly a struggle, but it is refreshingly different:

The first raid in WoW Dragonflight stresses our healers, but I have more fun than I have had in a long time

New MMO shooter for PC, Xbox and PS5 aims to revolutionize the genre – and be better than Anthem

Project LLL aims to revolutionize the MMO shooter genre. In a new QnA, the developers from NCSoft (Aion, Blade & Soul) shared insights into their plans.

What kind of game is this? Project LLL is set to be a new MMO shooter. The developers promise a vast, open world, realistic gunplay, and a lot of innovation. In the game world, humans fight against mutants, giant battle robots, and even demons in a single setting.

The game is set in a near future. You play in a post-apocalyptic Seoul of the 23rd century. However, the world has followed a slightly different path in the past, so you will see adapted elements in the game.

In a first trailer, you can check out the game and even gameplay:

Start video
New MMO shooter for PC and consoles plays in a dark future – Shows heated battles against combat robots

New shooter promises unique aspects

What do the developers say about Project LLL? In a new video, various developers of the game respond to questions and comments from the community. It starts with comparisons to The Division and Anthem. They say:

Many say that LLL is similar to or falls short of these AAA titles [Anthem, The Division]. This gave us more energy and motivation. We take the comments to heart to make LLL an even better game than the aforementioned.

This is supposed to be achieved primarily through innovative new features. LLL is to be an MMO shooter with a completely open world. Through this, you can move on foot or with various vehicles both on the ground and in the air.

As in many other shooters, cover, the “high ground”, and knowledge of the terrain are expected to play a role. Players can collaborate but also sabotage each other. The game content is meant to dynamically change depending on various situations. However, no detailed explanation was provided in this regard.

You can scan areas to identify dangers, call in airstrikes, or activate energy shields to block incoming projectiles. Additionally, players can hop into robots and fight with them, reminiscent of Titanfall.

Players can choose from various characters, each having unique names and backstories. These characters take on different roles – Tank, DPS, or Support.

What about weapons? The weapons in the game are supposed to feel very realistic. For this, motion capture was done with military members. The weapons should be very detailed, and the shooting animations are said to have required as much work as the entire remaining design of the weapons.

Additionally, many factors influence weapon handling, such as the weight of the inventory or the player’s movement.

What was revealed about the technology? NCSoft places particularly high value on precise gameplay and good performance. The implementation between pressing a button and the action on the screen is supposed to be shorter than ever before.

Also, great attention was paid to detail in graphics, sound, and physics.

You can watch the complete developer video with German subtitles on YouTube:

When is the game supposed to be released? Project LLL is set to be released worldwide simultaneously in 2024. The release is planned for PC and current consoles. The shooter is being developed in Unreal Engine 5. Development started nearly three years ago.

What information is missing? So far, there are no statements about the payment model. They want to think about that later. It is also still unclear what the exact game content is. Do you primarily fight against other players or NPCs? Are there side quests or any other overarching storyline to follow? Many statements about this currently sound very vague.

What do you think about the shooter? Does the gameplay appeal to you? Or are there still too many details missing?

NCSoft is also working on an MMORPG alongside Project LLL. You can find all the details here:

Diablo 4 explains a new feature in detail – You get legendary effects almost for free

In the latest stream, the developers of Diablo 4 talk about a new system in the upcoming action RPG: Crafting. Unlike before, you won’t just create items that soon become useless, but rather powerful items – at least within a certain range.

What kind of effects are these? In Diablo 4, there is a new feature, the Codex of Power. This works similarly to the Kanai’s Cube from Diablo 3 and stores certain legendary effects.

In simple terms: Effects that you normally find on legendary items can simply be found as “power” and stored in the Codex. You can then transfer the corresponding power to a new item, and you can do this as often as you like.

In a stream on December 15, the developers talked among other things about the battle pass in Diablo 4 and its costs, as well as the Codex and what powers you can obtain for it.

How do I get the effects? If you complete a dungeon in Diablo 4, you will receive a legendary “aspect” as a reward at the end. As the developers explain, there are over 120 dungeons that will provide you with the corresponding effects. Associate Game Director Joseph Piepiora says:

When [players] visit the dungeons and dive deep into them, they will find aspects for the Codex of Power there. These are essentially legendary effects. Each of these dungeons in the overworld houses a unique aspect. […] There are over 120 dungeons in the game.

Earlier, there was even talk of 150 dungeons, which I thought was nonsense at the time. Considering the legendary effects, however, it sounds more plausible that there will indeed be more or less unique dungeons playable.

However, there is a catch: legendary effects in the Codex of Power always come with the worst effect possible. This means that every number and every effect only brings the absolute minimum.

Moreover, you cannot obtain all legendary effects in this way, but you can get effects from every class. You will see in the Codex which dungeon you will get the corresponding aspect.

In early previews of the beta of Diablo 4, the dungeons were still rated as quite repetitive. Here, we have summarized the latest information about the game for you:

Start video
<strong>Diablo 4 takes the best features from the predecessors – Here is what it looks like so far</strong>

Legendarys are still the best source of power

What do the effects bring me then? Nevertheless, the Codex of Power is useful, as it enables you to create certain builds. If you are missing just a specific effect to play your build, you can simply use it. Diablo Immortal has a similar system.

Synergies between effects are often more important in Diablo than the strength of an effect itself. So, you can first try whether the build suits you at all, before you set out to look for stronger effects. Aspects will be unlocked for all characters.

This also aligns with the philosophy of builds in general. Through skills on items, you should be able to test abilities and be able to reskill repeatedly with increasing gold costs. This is limited by a sum of gold that will eventually become immensely high, but still provides flexibility.

You will be busy leveling for a while anyway. In the meantime, you can try out a lot:

More on the topic
Diablo 4 is supposed to take 180 hours before you even reach Max Level
von Benedict Grothaus

Where do I get better effects? Diablo 4 relies on the principle of looting and leveling, like all its predecessors. You will only find the best items by chance, and legendary effects there are stronger in most cases. So, you will still have to grind quite a bit.

There is also a practical possibility here: legendary effects can be extracted from equipment as “aspect crystals.” These crystals are items that you can use once to transfer an effect to another item. This also applies to effects that do not drop in dungeons.

However, when transferring an essence, you always overwrite the existing effect on another item.

We now know that Diablo 4 will be released on June 6, 2023, with three different editions and a collector’s box without the game. Here we explain more about it:

The author of Harry Potter reacts sharply to the call to boycott the new game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’

“Hogwarts Legacy” is a new game in the Harry Potter universe: It is set to be released on February 10, 2023, for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X after several delays. In the run-up to the release, transgender individuals are calling for a boycott of the game. The reason for the boycott call is the stance of author J.K. Rowling on the topic of “transgender,” which some consider to be transphobic. The 57-year-old author has now sharply reacted to such a call.

What is the boycott call about?

  • The author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, is seen by parts of the transgender community as a so-called “TERF”: A radical feminist who discriminates against transgender individuals, particularly transgender women.
  • Rowling essentially says (via jkrowling.com): Some transgender individuals want to step out of the role of “woman” because they see that women are treated worse by society than men. Consequently, the number of gender transitions has increased sharply: Young girls confuse the natural search for identity with the idea of being transgender. Some men also pretend to be transgender women to invade women’s protected spaces.
  • As a result, a conflict has erupted between some transgender individuals and J.K. Rowling, with both sides accusing each other of hatred. In this context, a boycott of Harry Potter and especially the new game “Hogwarts Legacy” has also been called for.

Buying Hogwarts Legacy is “harmful”

This was the boycott call: The most well-known representative of the boycott call is Jessie Earl. In March 2022, she published an article on Gamespot, in which she explained the harmful impact of J.K. Rowling’s discriminatory behavior and how the author’s transphobic comments have damaged the Harry Potter universe.

On December 17, Jessie Earl commented again and wrote: She does not struggle with people who own previous works by J.K. Rowling and seek refuge in them. She herself owns 9 movies and 7 books: But supporting “things” like Hogwarts Legacy is harmful.

Apparently, Earl wants to prevent Rowling from selling “new things” and thus taking in new money.

Rowling says: “True believers” must burn everything of hers – even the local library

This is Rowling’s response: In a sarcastic comment, Rowling writes: She is very disappointed with Jessie Earl. It could surely be better.

If one holds the pure faith, then it is incompatible to own anything by J.K. Rowling. Those who are truly righteous must burn everything connected with her, so not only set fire to books and movies, but also burn the local library, set everything with an owl on fire, and burn their own dog.

Start video
Hogwarts Legacy presents the officially best trailer of gamescom – Has over 600,000 views on YouTube

How is this being discussed? In the discussion, no positions are exchanged or arguments for one’s own stance are presented: The positions seem to have been cemented for a long time. The critical points are apparently irreconcilable:

  • Transgender individuals say transgender women are women with all rights.
  • J.K. Rowling views this skeptically and questions the motives behind some gender transitions.

It has now become a purely emotionally driven discussion that takes place in personal attacks. A nuanced exchange no longer occurs.

Time and again, people accuse J.K. Rowling of being “filled with hate against a marginalized group”:

  • Someone writes: “I am deeply disappointed that you have decided that your whole person revolves only around hating a marginalized group.”
  • Another person says: “So many opportunities to be a kinder version of yourself. I love the world you have created, but I am disappointed that it does not represent the values you sold to me as a child. Transgender women are women.”

This is what it’s about:

Jessie Earl’s stance seems to be: It is okay to have spent money on the works of J.K. Rowling. But new money should not be allowed to go to her by purchasing products from the “Harry Potter” universe, not even the new game.

On the other hand, J.K. Rowling apparently feels persecuted here and aligns herself with the tradition of authors whose works have been burned for ideological reasons.

We will probably only find out how many people who want to buy Hogwarts Legacy will ultimately be influenced by the discussion in their purchasing decision when the game actually releases.

We already dealt extensively with a boycott call for the new game on MeinMMO in March 2022:

The race for the “World First Kill” in World of Warcraft is nearing its end – two professional guilds are in a fierce competition.

In World of Warcraft, the so-called “World First” race has been running for almost a week now. The best guilds in the world are trying to defeat the current end boss Raszageth on mythic difficulty. This is the current status: The “World First” race is in full swing now, and the first guilds are already on the home stretch. Team Liquid (formerly known as “Limit”) and Echo have both arrived at “Raszageth, the Storm Eater” and are trying to blow out the virtual life lights of the last boss.

Currently, Team Liquid is in the lead, although that doesn’t mean much yet.

  • Team Liquid’s best pull was at 70.43% remaining health points.
  • Echo’s best attempt was 86.41% remaining health points.

It is important to mention that Team Liquid has already made 34 attempts on Raszageth, while Echo has only given it one try after 4 attempts.

Later, both guilds will continue when the professionals are well-rested and approach the challenge with fresh energy.

The current status of the “World First Race”. (19.12.2022, 11:40 AM. Source: wowprogress.com)

Liquid is leading, but the lead is thin: Basically, Team Liquid has the advantage so far and has claimed the most “First Kills” for themselves. Of the 7 bosses killed so far, Liquid was the first guild to achieve victory on 5 of them. Only Eranog and the Primal Council were credited to “Vesper”.

Even though Team Liquid currently has a significant lead, that could change quickly. Because Echo has been extremely good at catching up. For most bosses, Echo needed significantly fewer attempts than Team Liquid, even though they were later. For example, Bruthüterin Diurna (Boss 7) was down for Echo after 47 attempts, while Team Liquid needed a total of 85 attempts. Also, Kurog Grimmtotem (Boss 6) was completed by Echo after 20 attempts, while Team Liquid had to take 57 attempts to advance.

It remains exciting.

This video takes place after the victory over Raszageth – spoiler alert!

What are other guilds doing? Even though it looks a bit lonely at the top with Echo and Liquid, other guilds are still involved in the race. Especially “BDGG” (Big Dumb Gaming Guild) is in 3rd place and has currently defeated 5 of 8 bosses. “Instant Dollars” has also managed to defeat 5 bosses already.

Further behind are the professionals from Method, who have currently only defeated “only” 4 of 8 bosses and are in 5th place. It seems unlikely that they will catch up here.

Criticism of the start of the race: However, many viewers and also the casters who accompany the “World First” race have raised some criticism regarding the conduct of the race. Because the first days of the race were essentially just preparations. Instead of diving directly into the mythic mode, almost all guilds chose to first visit normal and heroic modes to farm better equipment and thus improve the performance of their players.

For the viewers, this was relatively boring, as in normal and heroic mode “there is nothing at stake” – and watching the professionals spend hours on warm-up rounds against the easier versions of the bosses was only limitedly entertaining.

That’s why the raid launch was unusual: With the Vault of the Incarnations, Blizzard tried something new. Normally, the mythic difficulty starts with a one-week delay.

However, Blizzard chose to launch the raid simultaneously to accommodate the professional guilds a bit. Because if the raid had started a week later – on December 21 – it would have been highly likely that the race would have stretched over the Christmas holidays. This would have put a lot of pressure on the professional players, who would rather spend time with their families during Christmas.

Whether Blizzard will aim for a simultaneous launch of all difficulties for the next raid is questionable.

What do you think of the “World First” race in World of Warcraft? Have you enjoyed the race so far? Do you see the simultaneous start of the difficulties as an advantage or a disadvantage?

Pokémon GO: Players are dissatisfied with the C-Day – Popular monsters were probably only available for 5 minutes

The C-Day of Pokémon GO in December is over. Now some players express criticism because certain Pokémon were only available for 5 minutes.

Which Community Day is it about? On December 17 and 18, the most recent Community Day took place in Pokémon GO. In our guide to the C-Day in December, you could read all the information like the start, bonuses, and the boosted spawns.

Trainers were pleased to have monsters like Kapuno and Kaumalat, two of the best Pokémon you could secure during the C-Day in December 2022.

Why are the players dissatisfied? Information circulated on reddit during the C-Day that three Pokémon would only spawn at specific times and disappear after just 5 minutes.

The 3 Pokémon are the popular pocket monsters Bisasam, Hydropi, and Dratini, which can evolve into Bisaflor, Sumpex, and Dragoran.

According to player reports, the three only spawned in the last 5 minutes of a certain hour – Bisasam at 2:55 PM, Hydropi at 3:55 PM, and Dratini at 4:55 PM. Thus, trainers reportedly only had 5 minutes per day to secure the three Pokémon.

Players criticize spawn timing of Bisasam, Hydropi, and Dratini

What are the players saying? On reddit, some trainers express a certain dissatisfaction regarding the C-Day in December, specifically regarding the spawn of the three Pokémon.

For example, falling0523 writes: “Does anyone else feel that Niantic has cheated us during this month’s Community Day event? The fact that Bisasam, Hydropi, and Dratini only appeared in the last 5 minutes of the hour was ridiculous” (via reddit).

Also, reddit user TehWildMan agreed: “The fact that their attacks were available was a pleasant surprise. But yes, incorporating the last 5 minutes of each hour as a surprise mechanic is just dumb” (via reddit).

Other trainers stated on reddit that the Community Day was “disappointing” and the Pokémon barely spawned even in the 5 minutes.

“The best C-Day of the last 2-3 years”

Was there also positive feedback about the C-Day? Yes, there were indeed trainers who rated the C-Day in December positively.

For example, Cyzerion writes: “We got 10 Pokémon with a 1/25 shiny rate for two days and some additional classic C-Day Pokémon as a bonus. […] It was a great C-Day weekend (via reddit).”

The trainer slowseason went even further on reddit and praised: “This might have been the best C-Day of the last 2-3 years.” The reddit user jakeb1616 agreed: “Yes, I didn’t play much and got more shinies than I wanted (via reddit).”

What else is currently happening in Pokémon GO: Even though the Community Day in December is over, the last month of 2022 still has a lot to offer trainers. Until December 23, the first part of the big winter holidays event is still ongoing.

Additionally, you can still challenge Mega-Firnontor in the raid until January 1, 2023. In the raid guide on MeinMMO, you can learn how to defeat the boss.

Gamer buys RTX 3080 cheaply on eBay, gets scared of the seller – Community explains why he is harmless

A gamer bought an RTX 3080 on eBay, but the seller’s explanation makes him very worried. The community tells him why he doesn’t need to be afraid of the offer. Because not only gamers need a graphics card for their system.

Those who want to play demanding or resource-hungry games on their gaming PC need a fast graphics card. Because it takes on many tasks when you play.

But not only gamers need graphics cards for their tasks. This was something a user found out on reddit. Because he bought a GPU cheaply on eBay but had doubts about the offer.

Other users receive strange emails from Amazon when buying a graphics card:

Gamer buys graphics card, instead receives strange email from Amazon – community warns of fraud
von Benedikt Schlotmann

Not only gamers need graphics cards

What did the user do? A gamer bought an RTX 3080 for 570 US dollars (about 600 euros). But the seller’s note confused him. He writes:

The seller said that they upgrade GPUs for their marketing agency. What would a marketing agency use GPUs for?

I am clueless and don’t know whether to believe it or not lol. Is that code for “I have run the card to death”?

Did he end up buying a graphics card for about 600 euros that some miner might have already “used up”? With this question, he turns to the community. Because there are regularly fraudsters on eBay who try to scam you with absurd offers.

What is behind the statement? The community explains that not only gamers need powerful graphics cards.

Graphics cards are used by professionals for video editing, 3D rendering, or graphic design, for example. Many of these tasks do not work without a GPU with decent performance. For instance, user ReallyQuiteConfused states on reddit that his agency needs different graphics cards for different purposes:

I run a small marketing agency. We currently have a 3090ti, two 6900XT, an 3080, 1080ti and 1070 plus a few random others for 6k RAW video editing, motion graphics, 50mp photo editing, etc.

The seller’s offer and his statement are therefore completely legitimate. Because agencies also want to upgrade their hardware after some time to be prepared for new tasks.

There are regularly attempts at fraud with used graphics cards

Where does the user’s concern come from? Anyone who has ever bought a used graphics card knows that things can go wrong here. Because behind the seller could, in the worst case, be a fraudster who only wants your money. And in that case, you’ll never see the purchased goods.

A user just had such a story happen to him. He bought a graphics card for a few hundred euros. But he will likely never see the purchased GPU, as the community has to gently inform him:

User buys top GPU for 300 euros – community explains to him why he will never see the graphics card

Twitch streamer bets $500,000 on the final of the World Cup: ‘The easiest victory of my life’

The Twitch streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel (27) was long addicted to gambling in online casinos. After Twitch banned the platform “Stake”, he has now put half a million US dollars on the final of the football World Cup. He was totally sure that the cool French would win. Argentina is a bunch of Noobs, Lionel Messi is just an “old Boomer”.

What’s going on with gambling on Twitch?

  • For about a year and a half, popular streamers earned an outrageous amount of money promoting the casino platform Stake. Streamers have gambled online for high sums in front of tens of thousands of viewers, often losing, but apparently received a lot of money from the casino – in one case, it is said to be 360 million $ over 16 months.
  • After protests from uninvolved Twitch streamers claiming that streamers would drive their viewers into addiction and ruin, Twitch has explicitly banned the casino Stake.
  • But now streamers are turning to “sports betting”: Even if they have frighteningly little knowledge of the respective sport, streamers are gambling huge amounts. They place their bets once again through their favorite platform: Stake.

“M’Paypal” vs. “the old Boomer” Messi

This was xQc’s bet: The biggest streamer on Twitch, xQc, bet 500,000 $ on a victory for France in the World Cup final on 12/18/2022. He said it was the “EASIEST WIN OF MY LIFE” – xQc writes everything in All-Caps because everything he says is grounded and significant.

He wrote: His “man”, MPaypal, he apparently means Kylian Mbappé, will break the “Noobs” necks.

As a prize, 1.425 million US dollars were at stake.

xQc said he had an “internal main character crystal ball” that he rubbed, and he was sure of his victory.

At 0-2, xQc panicked and hit the eject button

How did it go? Not so well for xQc. When Messi scored the 1-0 for Argentina, xQc had a small seizure and was upset about the “old Boomer” Messi. He can only score when the whole game is frozen.

How did it end? When France was down 0:2, xQc apparently panicked and ended his bet early; he “cashed out”. Of the 500,000 $ he had bet, 495,000 $ were gone, and he left with 5,000 $.

Little was left of the boastful appearance; xQc whimpered a bit and mumbled: He didn’t know what to do; he would take the 5k. The 27-year-old repeatedly ran his hands through his hair and visibly struggled with his betting decision.

Probably xQc suffered excruciating agony after his decision when France came back to 2:2 and for a while it looked like France could win the game. However, the regular time ended in a draw; the bet would have been lost anyway, but after the 2:2 the cashout would have been more lucrative.

How is this being discussed? The decision to “cash out” at 0-2 is viewed critically overall because the consolation prize was so small:

  • A user on Twitter says it must be the “worst cash-out” ever.
  • Another user says: “That’s why Americans shouldn’t watch soccer.”

But ultimately, the 500,000 $ that xQc lost here will probably be cushioned by some dubious deal. Because xQc also made the new sports bet through his partner: the casino “Stake”.

If you look at it from the outside, you can only conclude that the “celebrated” gambling ban from Twitch has only led to a shift in betting.

For 8,000 € you can now buy the 1st portable quantum computer – This is what you get for your money

A company has introduced a portable quantum computer. For just over 8,000 euros, you can buy such a device. But what can you actually do with it, and is it worth it?

A company offers the first portable quantum computer. The entry hurdle is already very high at around 8,000 euros, but is such a device worthwhile for everyday users?

MeinMMO presents the devices and explains what you get for such a high price and why a “real” gaming PC is still likely to be the better investment for you.

By the way, you can invest much more money in a gaming system:

More on the topic
Man shows PC setup for $500,000 – Twitch streamer desperately asks: “What do you need that for?”
von Max Handwerk

Quantum computers come in three different configurations

According to the manufacturer, the devices can be used at home: operation at room temperature is possible, no maintenance is required, and there should be real quantum computation. There should also be enough material for beginners who are using such a device for the first time.

How fast is the device? The device should be able to achieve 2 qubits. For comparison: In mid-2022, manufacturer Fujitsu presented what it claimed was the world’s fastest quantum computer simulator. The system is supposed to perform at 36-qubit quantum operations.

The remarkable thing is that quantum systems can process thousands of tasks simultaneously, while regular computers have to handle tasks one after the other.

Can you play games with it? At the moment, it wouldn’t be worthwhile, as quantum systems are supposed to solve specific problems, and for that, great computational power is necessary. You can see how such a device works at Quarks.de.

The fastest gaming PC in the world reaches 100 kilometers per hour

For general applications like PC games, this is currently unusable. For absolute peak performance in specific scientific applications, however, it is ideal:

  • Climate forecasts can be analyzed much more complexly and extensively using quantum computing.
  • In the security sector, both sides could benefit. Both intelligence agencies looking to break encryptions and users who could utilize better encryptions in the future.
  • Another possibility would be to simulate the effects of pharmaceutical agents.

How much does the device cost? According to the Japanese site PCWatch, there are a total of three different models that offer varying amounts of performance:

  • Gemini Mini starts at 1.1 million yen, which is around 8,200 euros.
  • The Gemini is priced at 5.72 million yen, which is about 40,000 euros.
  • The Triangulum costs 7.92 million yen, which is around 55,000 euros.

Already, the price for the entry-level model is significantly higher than the price for a gaming system with a modern graphics card.

Twitch streamer Amouranth has big plans for 2023 – talks about shows and bathwater-flavored energy drink

Kaitlyn Siragusa (29) is the most successful woman on the streaming platform Twitch as Amouranth. In the podcast “The CouRage and Nadeshot Show” with the CEO of the e-sports organization 100 Thieves, Matt “Nadeshot” Haag, she talked about her plans for the coming year.

How 2022 went for Amouranth: Last year was extremely turbulent for the streamer. While business was going great, there were likely some personal issues: In October, Amouranth revealed that she was stuck in a toxic marriage from which she then freed herself.

Since then, she has shifted the focus of her content: While her streams used to take place almost exclusively in the hot tub, Amouranth now also increasingly plays games like Overwatch 2 or Pokémon. In the podcast “The CouRage and Nadeshot Show,” she talked about how things should proceed in the future.

What kind of podcast is this? The CouRage and Nadeshot Show is a podcast hosted by the CEO of “100 Thieves” Nadeshot together with content creator and co-owner Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop. In addition to Amouranth, renowned influencers like Ninja and Valkyrae have also been guests.

What is planned for Amouranth in 2023? The Twitch streamer hasn’t revealed much yet, but she explained that she is working on “some larger projects” for the coming year. It is supposed to involve shows on the streaming platform Twitch.

What kind of show will it be? Amouranth has been very tight-lipped about the details. It is supposed to be some sort of game show that is meant to take place in person rather than purely virtually. Such a thing has never occurred on Twitch, according to the streamer.

What will Amouranth’s role be? The Twitch streamer will not participate in the tasks herself but will act as a host. Already in May, Amouranth held an event styled like the game show “WipeOut” with “Streamer Royale.”

In November, Amouranth explained her theory on why she has not been offered an exclusive contract from YouTube or Twitch: The streamer believes that YouTube is primarily interested in content creators who organize larger events.

The planned shows could therefore be a step toward an exclusive contract.

You can watch the nearly one-hour podcast here in the original English audio. The planned shows are discussed from 7:10.

Energy Drink with Bathwater Flavor?

What else is coming from Amouranth? During the show, CouRage asked if there was one thing that 100 Thieves could benefit from with Amouranth’s help in 2023.

The streamer initially had CouRage list the range of products from the e-sports organization. This includes Juvee, a brand for energy drinks. This led Amouranth to a brilliant idea:

We could develop an energy drink together: “Gamer Girl Bathwater.” It could be available in small jugs with different flavors.

Even though names for the flavors have already been suggested in the podcast, it seems that the idea is rather meant as a joke. You can find the conversation in the video from 48:34.

The bathwater drink cannot be completely ruled out, however: In the past, there have been several special editions of energy drinks created in collaboration with influencers. For example, Ninja released his cotton candy drink in June.

For Amouranth, it would not even be the strangest product: After all, the Twitch streamer already sold water that was supposed to come from her hot tub, as well as glasses that allegedly contained her flatulence.

Other content creators also show creativity when it comes to marketing their products:

Guild Wars 2 celebrates its best year since 2015 – “The active players have doubled in the last few years”

The year is coming to an end, and many MMORPGs take this as an opportunity to look back at 2022. This works particularly successfully for Guild Wars 2, but other MMORPGs also managed to make headlines this week.

The highlights of the week:

The discussion of the week: New World was free on Steam last week to attract new players, but how could it be any different with New World, this also splits the community.

The outrage of the week: World of Warcraft bans tailors for tailoring, because they didn’t know they were exploiting.

The number of new players in Guild Wars 2 was certainly influenced by the release on Steam:

Lost Ark announces 3 new classes and a major graphics update at huge event

In Korea, the LOA On took place. This is the biggest event of the year for Lost Ark. The developers presented their new content there, including new raids, three new classes, and a “Major Graphics Update.” All of this is set to be released in Korea in 2023 and will also partially come to us.

What are the highlights? Right from the start, the developers announced 3 new classes:

  • The Slayer is expected to be released in Korea in January. There is a video about her that we have embedded here in the article. She will be a female berserker.
  • The Soul Eater will come later in the year. This is an assassin.
  • Additionally, a new male Scrapper has been teased with an image. However, specific information is still missing.

Immediately after, the continuation of the main story and a new continent were introduced. These will bring a new Abyss dungeon and a completely new system called “Elixir,” which is intended to expand the equipment systems.

Next up were new raids, PvP content, and “Quality of Life” updates. A highlight will also be a large graphics update. We will explain which content was specifically announced.

Lost Ark brings new features for every player type in 2023

What is there for PvE fans? They can initially look forward to a new continent. Voldis will bring an Abyss dungeon and the announced Elixir system. This is intended to be a new progress system for equipment that will require a lot of gold, which will be drawn out of the game.

Additionally, there will be several more dungeons and raids:

  • The new Legion raid Thaemine is said to be the toughest Lost Ark has ever had. It will have four phases, and there will be “Fake Attacks” intended to confuse the players.
  • Next is the Kazeros raid, which is set to have a completely new style and entirely new mechanics.
  • Additionally, two new Guardian raids are coming: the bat Veskal and the frog Gargedith.

There will also be new items, stickers, and trophies for one’s island.

What is coming for PvP fans? Lost Ark will get two completely new PvP modes in 2023. The first will be a MOBA in 4v4 style. There will be 2 lanes and PvE monsters, and you will be able to play various characters.

The second mode is called Primal Island and will be a battle royale with survival mechanics.

What can all players look forward to? Lost Ark will become prettier. A large graphics update is set to come, adjusting reflections, water, and lighting. Additionally, the MVP screen will be overhauled to display more data.

For the classes, the third awakening ability will be unlocked next year. This affects both PvE and PvP players.

Additionally, the developers are tweaking several aspects to make the MMORPG more enjoyable. There will be new storage space for raid materials, and you should be able to sail faster with ships in the future.

Last but not least, new instruments will be introduced that can be controlled via the keyboard.

You can watch the entire LOA On in Korean with English subtitles here:

Is all of this really coming in 2023? Last year, the developers stated that they managed to incorporate 88.6% of the announced content from the LOA On into the game. If they succeed again, a large part of the content announced here will actually be released in Korea in 2023.

What of this is coming to us? This has not yet been revealed. However, we expect an official roadmap from Smilegate/Amazon soon.

What do you think of the changes? Do they appeal to you? What should come to us as soon as possible?

Lost Ark initially had some hurdles to overcome. If they manage that, the raids and PvP are particularly impressive. I found that out myself in November 2022:

I threw money at Lost Ark and finally had fun

The first raid in WoW Dragonflight challenges our healers, but I haven’t had this much fun in a long time

With Season 1, the first raid in WoW Dragonflight started, the Vault of the Incarnations. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus looked at the raid and played through it directly – well, almost at least. Because some parts are really tough.

Before the release of Dragonflight, I had predicted that WoW would get everything right again after 12 years of dying. Now the new expansion has been out for just over 2 weeks.

In my first review, I checked if Blizzard is back on the right track with Dragonflight. My conclusion was: yes, if they polish a few things. Now I am pretty sure that I am right.

Because now Season 1 of Dragonflight is here along with Mythic+ dungeons, new events, and finally the first raid, the Vault of the Incarnations. I, of course, checked it all out immediately and am thrilled, even though my guild and I had a hard time. Or rather: precisely because we had a hard time.

In our special, you will find all the information about Dragonflight. The trailer showcases the most important features at a glance:

The new raid is harder than any in years

As a progress guild, we have three raid nights per week: Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday. Right after the first night, I had the impression that the Vault is indeed a good bit harder than the raids of the last expansions.

Most of my guildmates had the same impression. We got just as far this time as in Shadowlands: all bosses except the final boss on the first night, most of them on the first attempt.

Nevertheless, the bosses offer a completely different challenge. We joked around less, were very focused, simply because we had to be. A prominent example: Sennarth, the frozen spider.

Not only does the boss constantly run away and we chase him around the arena, but there are also stairs (the final boss of every healer) and especially ice patches. These don’t just slow you down, but impose new physics on movements.

That means: acceleration is slow, but once you get going, it’s hard to brake. You have to deal with that, because:

  • dodging abilities on the fly doesn’t work
  • catching up with the group when you fall behind gets tricky
  • at the same time, you can cast while moving with enough momentum, while automatically dodging other things

The mechanic is quite difficult but really cool when you master it. Something similar exists with most bosses. However, they weren’t the only reason we felt the raid was harder than usual.

We die too often – ‘I’ll heal too’

Healers are currently struggling with healing, especially because the gear is lacking. Not helpful is that many DPS players – myself included – still trust that the healers will catch errors.

But they can’t.

Moreover, healers generally have a harder time in Dragonflight. This is intentional and planned, but until the raid, none of us really realized how crucial this is.

Everyone has an enormous amount of health points, but healing spells do not absorb as much anymore. So more healing is required. So much that we had to increase the number of healers, quite significantly.

With 30 people in the raid, we first tried the 2nd boss with five healers. After two attempts, I even respecced – after all, I’m playing the new Evokers, for the first time in 12 years as a caster. And I wanted to try healing anyway.

Even that wasn’t enough. Our raid leader, a shaman, also had to chip in. Then it finally worked out. It’s a running gag for us that the boss has to heal to make it work. Many first kills we only managed that way.

This time, however, the healing requirements were simply enormous. Whether it will stay that way, we will see. I would think it’s really cool if we had to mix more often in Dragonflight. By the way: in the kill try, I actually put out the most healing. The Evoker is just amazing!

In my guide, you will find builds for DPS and healing Evokers. Here’s gameplay:

3 Minuten Gameplay zu Rufer, der neuen Klasse in WoW Dragonflight

With 8 bosses, the raid is relatively small, which further suggests that the Vault is a bit tougher than its predecessors. By the way, we haven’t been able to defeat Raszageth in 2 raid nights, but we have managed to defeat the first bosses on heroic.

By the way, I have to agree with Cortyn: Raszageth is already a better opponent than the Jailer was in 2 years.

I have to get used to Mythic+ all over again

As preparation for the kill, our new task is: farm M+. With Season 1 also came the Keystone dungeons, including 4 of the new dungeons and 4 from the expansions of the last years. You can get really good loot there again.

I should actually be used to this, after all, Mythic+ is an activity that you grind as an active PvE player until the end. However, Dragonflight has also significantly increased in difficulty here.

Currently, I’m still struggling with 10 keys, which also has to do with my bad luck in looting. And tanks apparently have considerable difficulties doing their job – which may be due to them being heavily nerfed.

Still, I am really convinced of Season 1 so far and have a renewed desire for WoW. The new dungeons are fun, even though I haven’t seen all of them yet, and I can already see opportunities for crazy tactics and skips that will arise soon.

Shadowlands had a good conclusion with Season 4. Even big critics like Bellular see it that way. And Dragonflight builds right on that. 2 weeks after the release, I have tons of things to do, can improve in all areas, and I don’t feel like I have to pursue boring activities. I can do what I want and will always get better in some way.

There are some exceptions. For example, I need to hunt for a pretty rare recipe as a jeweler that everyone in my guild needs. And it simply won’t drop… but that’s complaining on a high level. So far, I find: from a raider’s perspective, Dragonflight is a huge success.

Surprisingly, even Cortyn has a similar opinion, though we often disagree. Our lore demon, however, has a different approach:
