What kind of Pokémon is Vivillon? Vivillon is the third evolution of Scatterbug, which can first evolve into Spewpa and then into Vivillon. With the “Rolling Scatterbug” event in 2025, the shiny variant will also be introduced to the game.
The special thing: Vivillon comes with different wing patterns, which depend on various regions.
To get Scatterbug, you need to pin postcards from your friends from these regions. 3 postcards from the same region will give you a Scatterbug encounter, whose Vivillon evolution will eventually display the corresponding pattern. In addition, you can continue to collect postcards from these regions to get more Scatterbug.

- Marine: Western South America, Spain, Portugal, Mediterranean region
- Meadow: Italy, France, Central Europe
- Modern: Southeastern USA
- Monsoon: Southeast Asia
- Ocean: Hawaii, Galapagos, Madagascar
- Polar: Western and Eastern Canada, Alaska, southern end of South America, Scandinavia
- River: North Africa, South Africa, Southern Australia
- Sandstorm: Arabian Peninsula
- Savanna: Eastern South America

Where to get the postcards? To get the various patterns, but also the encounters needed for the candies, you need a lot of postcards. Trainers recommend using Sanana berries and Mega Bug Pokémon during Scatterbug encounters to get more candies.
In Germany, for example, one can get the Continental postcards easily, where one can even pin their own postcards. But what about the other regions?
One possibility: On reddit, trainers have already created a dedicated subreddit called “VivillonCollectors” (via reddit), where there are posts for each region.
There, trainers share their friend codes in the respective post, depending on which region they come from. This already provides a way to find friends in regions that you are still missing.
