In 2023, there will be no E3, yet the new games of the season will be presented. The showcase of Xbox on June 11 started with Fable. The well-known British actor Richard Ayoade, known from IT Crowd, played a main role in the trailer. One day after the event, the trailer for Fable achieved the most views on YouTube.
This is how the Xbox Showcase started: The kickoff was “Fable – Xbox Games Showcase”.
Ayoade plays Dave, a “vegetable enthusiast”, and comments in his usual dry manner. Meanwhile, the trailer shows a heroine at work.
For Dave, all of this is a bit silly and outdated: heroes have silly cheekbones and are constantly beating up bandits because they enjoy beating up bandits.
He emphasizes his role, stating he is not a hero who defeats any monsters, he takes care of vegetables, which is what really matters.
The era of heroes is over, the era of innovations has begun.

The trailer then completely falls into the surreal when Dave meets the heroine, who is much smaller than him. It creates a sort of “Ant-Man” situation and apparently the two are fighting against each other.
In the end, you see the heroine eating a roll while sitting on Dave’s gigantic glasses. In any case, it’s a quirky trailer.
The trailer ends with a cut-off “Fuck”, which probably also explains the age warning “18+” before the trailer.
What do we know about Fable? The role-playing game is developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is set to be released for Xbox Series/X and Steam and will be available on day one in the Game Pass.
What are the comments saying? People currently wish for gameplay footage of Fable; while the trailer was allegedly in-game graphics, many would like to see the actual game.

Even under the video, the first players are excited about the atmosphere and tone of the game.

What was the original ending supposed to look like? The original ending of World War Z painted a rather bleak picture: After Brad Pitt’s character, researcher Gerry Lane, escapes from Israel by airplane, he ends up in Russia.
There he is drafted into the military to fight the zombie plague. A time jump follows, and eventually, Lane leads his unit through impressive battles in the Russian winter.
The researcher manages to contact his family, who is stuck in a refugee camp in the USA. His wife has resorted to prostitution out of necessity. Lane sets out to save his family. The film ends with him storming the coast of Oregon with his unit.
Too dark for Paramount
Why was the ending changed? The original version was apparently too dark for those responsible at Paramount. The studio preferred a more optimistic ending for the summer blockbuster. So the script was rewritten, and the camera was rolled again.
The reshoot is reported to have cost Sensacine 25 million US dollars and catapulted the budget from 175 million to 200 million dollars. However, there are different figures regarding how expensive the film actually was.
Colleagues from Moviepilot report estimates between 125 million and 400 million dollars. Nevertheless, the last-minute change of the entire third act gives the film a proud place at number 2 on the list of the most expensive deleted scenes (via Screenrant).
After all: With a worldwide box office of over 540 million dollars, it seems the changes were worth it – or at least did not significantly harm the success.
At least the effort was not in vain, as parts of the original ending can be seen in the new finale as a brief montage.
That more expensive does not necessarily mean better has also been experienced by other filmmakers. One of the best series on Netflix has been a real bargain with previous costs of 318 million US dollars.

What’s to be seen? You will get to know the protagonists. We play as Kay Vess, a criminal. Her “sidekick” is named Nix, a mix between a small dog and a lizard. A change from the chirping droids that usually follow Star Wars heroes.
In Star Wars: Outlaws, you’ll experience a more criminal side of the sci-fi universe.
You are a thief yourself, and the trailer shows the escape after a theft. Stealth scenes are shown, and how Nix can help press levers or attack enemies.
But quickly, a shootout ensues, blaster fire everywhere and a house full of enemies. The escape is successful, and suddenly you find yourself on a speeder being chased.
After shaking off the pursuers, Kay wants to hand over the stolen goods. However, the buyer is an Imperial, and another escape ensues – during the negotiations, one could have bribed the Imperial to finish the day in peace. The trailer leads to a confrontation.
This time, however, it’s into the spaceship, away from the planet, into orbit, and into a space battle. Kay disappears from the system into safety via hyperspace.
How was it received? The first reactions under the trailer on YouTube (via youtube.com) look excellent shortly after the trailer release. The presentation leaves a desire for more.
However, a skeptical comment is at the top – everything seems too good.

On Reddit, there isn’t much discussion about the absurdly high price, but speculation is taking place about what Bethesda might include in the Collector’s Edition of Starfield to justify such a high price. Bethesda’s “special editions” have sparked discussions in the past.
Previous special editions from Bethesda included statues or even helmets. Now, there is ironic speculation on Reddit about a Starfield helmet.
One person mockingly says he hopes the helmet is made of a very rare material like canvas – referencing a major controversy surrounding Fallout 76.

Yesterday the pre-order for Starfield, the new sci-fi role-playing game from Bethesda, began. As a special treat, there is a Collector’s Edition for €300 that includes a special watch and a matching case. Collectors seem to be going crazy over it. Within hours, the edition was sold out. People on Reddit are cursing the damn scalpers and their profit greed.
What’s included in the Collector’s Edition of Starfield?
The “Premium Version” of Starfield includes all digital products and costs around €100. It contains the game, the first expansion, access to the soundtrack and the artbook, along with some in-game skins.
The Collector’s Edition adds a special watch, the “Chronomark Watch,” and a matching steel case for an extra cost of around €200. This watch was discovered back in January 2022 (via gamepro), but is now confirmed.
Additionally, the Collector’s Edition includes a patch and a credit stick with an engraved game code.

What’s so special about the watch? In the presentation, Bethesda highlighted the watch specifically. The “real” watch reflects the watch that you are ceremoniously presented within Starfield.
In the game, it functions as a kind of digital assistant.
Game Director Todd Howard raves:
For this game, we have made a watch. It is the Constellation Explorer’s Watch. This is the watch that you actually get in the game, and with it, you gain access to a part of your user interface: the compass and environmental information. It connects to your phone to send you notifications and other information.
In addition to the watch, a detailed case has also been created. The design is inspired by the boxes that real astronauts used during the Apollo era to transport lunar rocks to Earth.
Efforts were made to create the case authentically, so that it appears like something that could actually exist in Starfield.

A survey of 10,000 households in the USA shows that women have a significant share in gaming, but not everyone agrees with the results.
What is this study about? On June 9, 2023, Mat Piscatella, director of the market research company Circana, shared some newly released data on who buys and plays video games in the USA.
The data shows that almost half of all gamers in 2023 are women: 47% of console players, 50% of PC players, and 54% of mobile players are female. In a second post, Piscatella provided detailed information about the shares of men and women across different hardware.
While the distribution among gaming PCs is balanced, the percentage of women among PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players is slightly lower, whereas it is somewhat higher than men among Switch players. You can see the exact breakdown here:
Where do the numbers come from? The data comes from Circana’s “PlayerPulse”, a monthly survey. Gamers interviewed come from a “nationally representative pool” in the USA, who are over 13 years old and have played video games in the past month.
The study collects demographic data as well as engagement, ownership, purchasing intentions, and social media usage from a rotating sample of approximately 10,000 households.
For some, the numbers are not surprising, as nearly half of the people worldwide are women, and: “Games are fun, people play games, women are people.” However, not all responses under the post are so positive.

How are the reactions? While many gamers shared their own gaming habits or those of their partners, some reacted with skepticism, disbelief, and foolish remarks.
Some Twitter users questioned the validity of the numbers, the methodology, or their significance. They suggested that many women likely only buy the devices for their children or referred to supposedly comparable studies with different results.
From others came the almost predictable “No real gamers” remarks. They assert that women only play the typical female games. Something like Candy Crush or The Sims. Even Assassin’s Creed is apparently considered a female game now (via Twitter).
Some comments also complain that the evaluation of the numbers apparently only considered men and women, while non-binary individuals were not mentioned or asked how high the share of trans individuals is (via Twitter).
What do the results mean? The numbers shared by Piscatella are not only interesting for gamers who see their own perception either confirmed or questioned.
After all, Circana is a market research company, and the conducted surveys also aim to show manufacturers that women are a relevant target group (via Twitter). Thus, it could very well be worthwhile for developers to create strong female characters that women can identify with.
Some gamers expressed doubts based on their personal experiences: Where are all these gamer women, they have not encountered any on the internet or in games. However, others point out that the behavior in the comments – and in the games themselves – could be the reason why women may not always want to reveal themselves.
Diablo 4 offers various difficulty levels, known as world tiers. Only 2 of them are available to you from the start. MeinMMO explains how to unlock world tiers 3 and 4 and what benefits they bring.
How do I unlock world tier 3? Master the dungeon “Cathedral of Light” in the north of Kyovashad. The “Capstone” dungeon is only visible at world tier 2 and should be shown to you via a quest.

When should I play at world tier 3? Once you can easily handle the enemies. It is usually not worth trying to push through the enemies with your last strength and hoping for upgrades.
It is more efficient to slaughter as many enemies as possible in a short time and filter through the huge loot pile. There you can decide whether to sell, salvage, or keep the loot.
Once you are sure that you can defeat higher-level enemies just as quickly as your current foes, you should switch. From then on, you will receive better equipment and can prepare for new challenges.

Pokémon GO is set to receive new features. The new routes could be particularly interesting. What’s in store?
Here’s what’s happening in Pokémon GO: Throughout the year Pokémon GO is expected to receive new features, and as part of the Summer Game Fest, developer Niantic has introduced some of them to various media.
The two features that are now more closely known are “routes” and “showcases”. Both are reportedly designed to encourage more outdoor play and exploration of locations. This aligns with previous statements from Niantic. However, the routes feature could be particularly interesting.

What do routes in Pokémon GO bring?
What routes are expected to be: As Pokémon GO Hub and Dot Esports report, the routes will be content heavily shaped by the community.
They will operate as follows:
Players choose an arena or a PokéStop
From here, they can start a “route” – it can be any kind of walk
This route will then be captured and recorded by Pokémon GO. It is completely free and not tied to stops.
Then the route must end at a stop or an arena – it can also be the starting point.
Trainers can then add descriptions, tags, and similar elements
Once the route is completed, it will be approved or rejected by Niantic. The developer hopes that this process will take a maximum of 24 hours per route after submission by the trainers.
If the route is accepted, other trainers will be able to find and follow it in the game.

What are the routes good for? They could be an exciting feature as they provide a very personal way for trainers to leave their mark in the game.
On one hand, they follow Niantic’s discovery vision: routes should allow players to showcase particularly cool spots in their area. Especially when one is new or visiting somewhere, this could be a nice way to explore the surroundings.
“Magical moments, secret gardens, hidden staircases, cool murals in backyards, [things] you wouldn’t know about if someone didn’t show you. With routes, you can share and access this knowledge by following in the footsteps of other trainers,” said Senior Producer Chad Jones to Dot Esports.
At the same time, routes are expected to bring rewards when completed. This applies whether one completes foreign or their own routes. There is talk of Pokémon spawns, XP rewards, and passive bonuses.
This could be particularly interesting for players in rural areas, as theoretically, one only needs a PokéStop or an arena to start their own route. If one develops it in their area, they could theoretically create their own reward paths.

In Diablo 4 there are many ways to get loot. Places you have probably passed by and ignored are the dungeons. We explain here why you should at least take a look into every dungeon.
What are the dungeons? If you are traveling in Sanctuary, you will encounter symbols of small doors on the map. These are the dungeons and you can enter them. Most of the encounters are unremarkable and you just have to take out the monsters in the room.
This usually takes less than a minute, and usually no interesting opponents with good loot spawn. Therefore, many players ignore the dungeons.

Why should you enter the dungeons? If you pass by a dungeon, at least take a quick look inside. If the loot goblin symbol appears on the map, then clearing it is worth it. The room is a loot dungeon, and 3 loot goblins will spawn that you can defeat.

The German Twitch streamer Staiy is one of the loudest critics of the platform. Now he reports how much money the controversial competitor Kick is offering him and why a switch is not an option for him.
What is Kick all about? The streaming platform was announced in December by Tyler “Trainwreck” Niknam, who has been successful with casino streams, stating that Twitch has lost touch with reality.

In Pokémon GO, new features are coming. Niantic has now given a small insight into two of them: Routes and Showcases.
What is happening in Pokémon GO? Pokémon GO has an important year ahead, as it seems to be undergoing a transformation.
Earlier this year, changes to remote raids caused frustration in the community. In an interview, Niantic addressed this further, showing understanding for the frustration but also emphasizing that they pursue a vision with Pokémon GO, sending players outdoors to explore.
Additionally, Game Director Michael Steranka mentioned that they have exciting things planned, and in terms of feature development, this is one of the most exciting years ever. They want to regain the trust and love of the community.
Now it seems to be gaining momentum, as Pokémon GO presented two new features at the Summer Game Fest.

What are these features for Pokémon GO?
At the Summer Game Fest, Niantic was present and gave several media outlets insight into the new features. As a result, new information about the features “Routes” and “Showcases” is now available, which we will summarize briefly for you. There were also some datamines about both before.
What are Routes? As Pokémon GO Hub reports, trainers can accurately trace their running paths with the routes feature. You start a route at a PokéStop or a gym, run a loop, and end up at another or the same PokéStop. So round trips are also possible, and only one PokéStop is needed to create a route.
This running path is saved and can be sent to Niantic. Once the route is released by the developer, other players can see and follow it in their game.
