It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect a first screenshot from ArcheAge Chronicles, playtest experiences, and a challenging early access start.
Highlights of the week:
- On social platforms, the developers of ArenaNet (Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2) hint at a major announcement at the Summer Game Fest. That they are working on Guild Wars 3 is an open secret. If you read these lines on Saturday, you probably already know whether the anticipation was justified.
- The next update for World of Warcraft is almost here and is called “Revelations.” But it will take weeks before all content is playable.
- Camelot Unchained was in development for 13 years, but the early access launch on Steam was a real crash landing.
- After the shutdown of the largest private server for World of Warcraft Classic Plus, the team from Turtle WoW has now revealed how it plans to proceed: They want to develop a completely new MMORPG.
- On the official X channel of ArcheAge Chronicles, there is now the very first official screenshot from the sequel to ArcheAge featuring the interface. Now fans want more gameplay and a release date!
What else has happened? We played the western version of Honor of Kings: World and discovered some strengths that make the MMORPG Lite worth playing. However, we also have to warn: The spinoff of Honor of Kings has some typical characteristics and weaknesses of Asian online role-playing games, which may easily put off Western genre fans.

What happened with the major MMORPGs:
- On the official WoW website, Blizzard has published a preview of the new quest series in which you fight against the leaders of the Void in Val and Naigtal. Different difficulty levels are available, which in turn affects the rewards.
- “The Battle for Orgrimmar” has been released for WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic. Included: the namesake raid, the Timeless Isle, and 5 world bosses. You can find out the details on blizzard.com.
- From July 1 to August 12, 2026, the turbulent timeways will open in WoW: Each week you can time travel through a previous expansion, starting and ending with Dragonflight. This journey through the past includes six timewalking dungeons: Academy of Algeth’ar, Halls of Infusion, Neltharus, Ruby Life Pools, Azure Vault, and Brackenfell Cave. - In MMORPGs like World of Warcraft friendships and relationships can form, bringing families closer together. This is illustrated by a report of a player who commemorates his deceased mother in Stormwind.
- There’s quite a lot of annoying content in World of Warcraft . However, Blizzard has an “interesting” idea on how to lessen the suffering.
- Patch 7.51 for Final Fantasy XIV is live! Look forward to the challenging content “Dancing Madness (fatal),” the new exploration area of the Cosmic Exploration “Auxesia,” and new delivery requests. - The Elder Scrolls Online is now part of the PC Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. What that means in detail, you can learn on elderscrollsonline.com. This week on the official ESO website, you can also find a preview of the werewolf update, which will be released on June 8 with Patch 50.
- On the official website of Throne and Liberty, the next preview article about the upcoming expansion “Frozen Division: Nyx” has been released. This centers around a PvP zone called Nyx’s Shadow, which is meant to replace the lawless wilderness of Nebula Island. This is intended to support smaller skirmishes between player groups and provide both hefty penalties and valuable rewards.
- On June 4, 2026, the weekly update for Black Desert went live. You can expect a reduction in the required investment points for acquiring residences and post investments. You can find the patch notes on playblackdesert.com.
What happened with the smaller MMORPGs:
- Star Wars: The Old Republic is receiving its big update with a delay, and this should please those who have a fondness for their companions.
- The Tibia developers have released a preview of the extensive class adjustments that will soon come to the MMORPG. Where? Well, on tibia.com.
- On June 2, 2026, a new free-to-play MMORPG launched on Steam with the title Soul Land: Awakening World. However, you might want to skip the download. Of the 74 reviews so far, only 32 percent are positive.
- Trove invites you to its annual summer event from June 2 to June 16, with colorful rewards, mysterious encounters, and a growing number of Trovian who seem to have lost something important: their emotions! More details on trovegame.com.
- Chapter One: Shadows Over Argo has launched for DC Universe Online. With Supergirl at the forefront and allies like Aquaman, Mera, Blue Lantern Luzia, and Krypto, you must uncover Kryb’s perverse experiments and push back the spreading influence that threatens both the legacy of Atlanteans and Kryptonians. - The free-to-play MMORPG Eterspire has left early access on Steam. Additionally, you will find an updated roadmap for the content that is set to land on the servers by August. The game from Stonehollow Workshop stands at 77 percent positive after just over 1,000 reviews.
- Ultima Online has raised its subscription prices. German players now have to pay about 30 percent more for 3 and 6 months. Unfortunately, there is currently no official explanation for the adjustments (source: massivelyop.com).

What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- SpiritVale aims to revive the virtues of classic MMORPGs on Steam and is currently raising funds from interested genre fans. The plan is working; the minimum goal was reached within 24 hours.
- With Stars Reach, developer legend Raph Koster is about to launch his next big MMORPG. This week, the team revealed when you can expect the release on Steam.
- After the end of Project Ghost, many experienced developers sought new jobs in the gaming industry. A former WoW lead has now found a particularly exciting role in the team of the LoL MMORPG.
- Soulframe is more of an MMO Lite but will get important multiplayer features with the Prelude update 15 in June.
- According to the financial report of Gravity Interactive (via mmorpg.org.pl) for the first quarter of 2026, the release of the Chinese version of Ragnarok Online 3 on PC and Mobile is planned for the first quarter of 2027. The global version is expected to follow sometime in 2027. The release list also includes 8 other Ragnarok games, showing how much the studio wants to capitalize on its franchise, especially in Asia.
- The developers of BitCraft Online were able to celebrate a strong milestone of 100,000 sold units on X. The early access version of the MMORPG is currently available for €15.79 on Steam.
- The developers of Persist Online have introduced the feature of Faction Quests on the official website. Through this, you will receive new daily activities that you can complete for the faction of your choice to earn useful rewards regularly.
- Gloria Victis is set to receive a relaunch on Steam on June 17, 2026. The developers promise a bug-free, improved version that has incorporated a lot of feedback from the community. Additionally, the first update for the post-launch period is already in the works. The rating for the previous version stands at 69 percent positive on Steam.
- The Kickstarter campaign for Hollowed Oath has successfully concluded. After 30 days, the developers of the fantasy MMORPG raised €143,452. They had set a minimum goal of €86,095.
