The next update for World of Warcraft is almost here. However, it will take weeks before all content is playable.
The story of World of Warcraft Midnight has unfolded quite quickly, and the course is basically set for the next expansion “The Last Titan”. However, there are still a lot of content updates that will be released until then. The next one is patch 12.0.7, which advances the story and even brings a small raid that changes the rules of mythic raids.
Now we know: Patch 12.0.7 will be released in just 2 weeks.
When will patch 12.0.7 be released? The official release date for the next WoW update is June 17, 2026 – at least for us in Europe. As usual, the patch will be released on US realms a day earlier, on June 16. This is due to the different schedules for weekly server maintenance as well as the time difference.
What’s in the new patch? Although patch 12.0.7 is just a small update, there are still a lot of new features. These include:
- The two mini-zones Naigtal and Val, which are also available on heroic difficulty – they form the finale of the Void invasions.
- The Omniumfoliant unlocks new powers for your characters that will be active for the rest of Midnight.
- A new raid with a single boss opens its doors and lures with better loot.
- There is new “Lorewalking” around the trolls and their connection to the Loa.
- The Loa Jan’alai has laid new eggs, and you must help ensure they hatch smoothly.
- The Turbulent Timeways start again with 6 timewarps in a row.
When will the content start? It has also become common that not all new content is available immediately at launch. Some of the content will be released in the weeks following the release or has various “Time Gating” mechanics, so the full potential of features will be unlocked over the course of weeks. Some of the dates are:
- The Omniumfoliant, which grants more character strength, can be built up a little more each week. This way, your characters gain a bit more power each week, which should make all game content a bit easier.
- Starting July 1, the “Turbulent Timeways” begin, where there will be several weeks of timewarps in a row.
- From July 6, the questline surrounding Zul’jan and his uncle Kinduru will start, which is very likely to lead to the events of patch 12.1.
- The micro-event Dark Troll Race takes place on June 27.
Cortyn says: Even though I am skeptical about whether Blizzard is choosing the right pace this time and has given patch 12.0.7 enough time to fix major bugs, the content sounds good. I am especially excited about new story content, as I am quite curious about what else Blizzard wants to tell in the rest of Midnight.
However, even if patch 12.0.7 is just a small update, it is exactly the patch with which Blizzard must prove that quality is more important than speed. Because the last small patches were not well received by the community, as many features were basically unplayable at the start. Something that hopefully will not happen this time. Because otherwise, the feeling of WoW burnout may increasingly show in the community.
