The Toxic Abyss. That is the name of the latest raid in World of Warcraft, which has been available since today (August 19, 2026) on all relevant difficulties. This also marks the start of the global race of the best players in WoW, who want to defeat all 8 bosses first and claim the top spot in the Hall of Fame with a victory over Ula’tek. The second season of WoW: Midnight has begun.

Which guilds can be watched? Although there are many professional guilds all vying for a spot in the Hall of Fame, the following guilds have proven to be the most likely to succeed. You can easily follow their progress in their respective streams.
European Guilds in the World First Race
- Echo: In the last races, Echo consistently placed 2nd and is therefore considered Europe’s biggest hope. Stream: Echo on Twitch
- Method: Method is known as the pioneer of live streaming the World First race, recently usually finishing in 3rd place. Stream: Method on Twitch
- FatSharkYes: The guild placed 6th in Season 1 and does not host a major event, but you can watch individual players. Stream: Mafre on Twitch
American Guilds in the World First Race
- Team Liquid: The winners of previous races are streaming again this time, so you can watch everything live. Will they maintain their winning streak? Stream: Team Liquid on Twitch
- Instant Dollars: Instant Dollars usually ranks between 5th and 10th but does not host major overarching streams. Stream: Kads on Twitch
- Honestly: For pros, a comparatively “relaxed” guild with only 20 hours of raid per week. Individual players stream their perspective. Stream: Jordooce on Twitch

However, please note that not all pros are currently at the relevant (mythic) difficulty. In the initial days, there are often visits to the heroic raid and mythic+ dungeons to equip the characters with the best possible gear. Only when that is ensured will the pros start in the mythic raid.
Why is this being streamed publicly at all? For the big guilds, the race for the World First Kill is a strong source of income. The streams are often watched by tens of thousands of fans, allowing sponsors to place their advertisements.
In the past, it was different. The majority of guilds worked “secretly” on the latest raids, and one only saw that the pros were finished through a realm-wide achievement popping up. Back then, the thought was that they did not want to share successful strategies and tactics with other guilds.
However, for several years now, it has become a media spectacle that can be viewed not only from multiple perspectives of different players but is also accompanied by professional casters – often over several days.
How long does such a race usually last? That varies. Most races typically end after 7 to 14 days. However, it can also happen that such a race stretches over several weeks. Normally, small changes to the bosses by Blizzard ensure that seemingly unbeatable bosses are slightly weakened in order to allow a victory under nearly perfect play by the pros.
