Many players apparently misunderstand the new Mythic system in Diablo 4 Season 14, or at least the new recipe for the Horadric Cube, and sacrifice their strong endgame items to it. A user clarifies.
With the “Mythic 3.0” system, it is possible to craft mythic items in the Horadric Cube. However, the corresponding recipe is simply called “upgrade to mythic”, as mythic items now have their own category and are no longer just iconic items.
This is exactly what causes confusion, as can often be seen on Reddit. Players simply throw in their best items into the cube hoping to improve them. One user, for example, mentions that he lost a nearly perfect dagger doing so.
Although the recipe states that you will not get the same item in “better”, it apparently is not clear enough, leading many players to shame themselves for their self-proclaimed idiocy.
The Mythic system is criticized, among other things, for this randomness, but at least you can significantly limit your loss by not processing your top items, but rather the “junk” that you would otherwise shred.
“The cube completely re-rolls the base item”
A user on Reddit explains that the recipe does not require top items, but only a unique item with an item level of 850+ and – since the patch on July 14 – four fragments of madness.
As a result, the mythic item you receive will be completely re-rolled anyway:
The “Upgrade to Mythic” recipe of the Horadric Cube […] completely re-rolls the base item. Affixes, gas, everything on the unique you throw in will be deleted. The result is a random Mythic from the pool of your class’s slot, always bequeathed, unique effect +30%, every affix roll at the maximum value, like with an All-GA item. The range is even higher than with normal GA rolls.

Although the system is still not good, it is what one has and one must make the best of it. It only depends on the slot, the user emphasizes. In doubt, the new Mythic can still be processed into a Spark.

However, there continues to be criticism of the system, especially because only one crafted Mythic can be worn. This bothers players the most when looking at the community. Conversely, one of the rarest items has apparently been made more accessible – to the chagrin of some who can do nothing with it: “Lucky” finds the rarest item in Diablo 4 twice, but would need to pay 40 euros to use it
