Barbarians are currently at the absolute top position in Diablo 4 Season 14. In particular, the Whirlwind build is so strong that it makes everything else pale in comparison – and awakens the desire to strengthen other classes.
What kind of build is this? The Whirlwind build has existed since Diablo 2 and has consistently had some playable iteration since then. In Diablo 4, it is one of the S-Tier builds of Season 14.
Often described as a “spin to win” build, the Whirlwind build primarily relies on the eponymous skill, which is correspondingly enhanced. Every few seconds, you use buffs; otherwise… just hold down Whirlwind and shred through enemies.
The core of the build is the unique gloves “Gohr’s Destructive Grasp,” which increase Whirlwind damage and pull enemies towards the Barbarian while channeling – like in a blender with axes instead of knives. Here are some example builds:

The Whirlwind Barbarian is considered one of the strongest, often even the strongest build currently in the game. While some players are annoyed by it, others believe that everyone should use it as a model.
“Every class should feel like the Barbarian”
On Reddit, a user complains that he can effortlessly mow down Mephisto, the new final boss since Lord of Hatred, even on the highest difficulty Torment 12 with the Whirlwind Barbarian.
His damage numbers average at 7 trillion and peak at 15 trillion. In comparison, his Paladin build barely reaches 10-50 billion – up to 400 times less.
Also in other threads on Reddit, users complain about balance and build diversity: classes like Paladins or the new (and quite complex) Sorcerer simply can’t keep up with the insane Barbarian. While it might be possible to nerf Barbarians, one player pragmatically states:
I pray to God they don’t do that. Every class should feel like the Barbarian this season. I switched from Paladin to Barbarian and it’s so much more fun.
