The Steam Summer Sale is in full swing and offers countless, quite good deals for a variety of games. A player is confronting the community and warns them not to just buy everything that is cheap.
A player posted in the Steam Subreddit a meme about the current Summer Sale, seemingly trying to warn some players. He writes there: A game at full price that you are looking forward to is worth more than a pile of discounted games that will never be played.
With that alone, he collected over 9300 upvotes and 230 comments in just 12 hours. Looking at the users’ reactions, some seem to feel caught.
Sometimes an absurd game of hide and seek can pay off:
Never speak to me again
How does the community react to the meme? Among the comments on the thread, there are various reactions. Many users take the post humorously and respond ironically. For example, Wadarkhu (Reddit) writes: Never speak to me again or my collection of 300 unplayed games that I bought in the sale.
User Marmooset also laughs at himself and says he doesn’t play the full-price titles either.
However, there are also users who disagree with the post. DonMegaPopeKenny (Reddit) counters with a different kind of anticipation: A game on sale that you have been looking forward to for a long time is worth more than a full-price game that you are currently looking forward to.
Reddit user like Brennus Sokol argue that full-price games have disappointed so often that they shouldn’t be bought without hesitation.
What should one watch out for during such sales? Everyone knows it: You see some titles in the Steam Sale that you find interesting, and you add them all to your cart and buy them. You can get full-price games for just a few euros sometimes. This is quite tempting and often looks like a good deal.
However, one should be careful not to blindly buy games that they may never play. You never know if a game will be cheaper again in a few months. On the other hand, full-price games at release often have the advantage that the community is the most active, and together many aspects can be discovered.
Those who don’t care about such things can save a lot of money with the many sales, and if you don’t buy countless games that you won’t play anytime soon, you’ll save even more without building an unmanageable backlog.
But what do you think? Do you buy a lot of games during Steam Sales or do you also ensure that you will play the games soon? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. If you want a lot of content for little money during the current Summer Sale, we have a recommendation for you: For €5, you can currently get one of the best deals in all gaming on Steam, which has already cost me 200 hours
