Hulk is considered the mightiest hero in the Marvel Universe, but even the green giant can be defeated. Spider-Man also defeated him, but he had a favorable starting situation.

Spider-Man is stronger than the average human but not nearly as strong as Hulk. However, in 1990, he managed to defeat the beast. The spider had two quite useful factors. First, Hulk was Joe Fixit here, meaning the smarter mobster version of Hulk. Therefore, he attacked Spider-Man. He was hired by Sebastian Shaw to take him out.
Secondly, Spider-Man was not just Spider-Man. Thanks to an experiment, Peter Parker had a cosmic power at that moment, making him significantly buffed. This was apparent in the battle between the two. Spider-Man had not only speed on his side.
Spider-Man used eye beams and his immense new power to defeat Joe Fixit. At the end of the fight, Spider-Man delivered such a powerful uppercut that it sent him into orbit. This was only possible because Spider-Man was practically in God mode – but defeated is defeated.
Although all these are defeats, the list shows how strong Hulk actually is. Most characters had to resort to unfair means or cosmic powers to defeat him.
