Patch 12.1 in World of Warcraft is now live. To help you get started quickly, you should take care of these 3 things right away.
Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek in World of Warcraft Midnight is finally live. There are a lot of new quests to complete before Season 2 fully kicks off next week. To make sure you don’t miss anything and can compete at the top right away, you should keep an eye on a number of things and complete some tasks. Let’s take a quick look at everything you should have done this week.
Advance the Campaign
The first thing you should complete is playing the new story campaign. This not only unlocks the new island for your entire account but also the new dungeon and various contents available in the new area – including a new glory faction with cool rewards.
Aside from these unlocks, following the campaign is worthwhile to understand the story of the patch. There are a total of 11 side stories (i.e., additional quest lines) to keep you busy for a while. As usual, the side quests offer substantial reputation rewards, allowing you to climb a few glory ranks.
Visit Mythic 0
In the first week of Patch 12.1, the “Pre Season” is still active, meaning that many contents are not yet unlocked. However, you can already visit all new dungeons on the “Mythic” difficulty (also known as “M0”). Here, you can find items that are already at champion level, sitting in the item level range of 292.
Especially in the first week, most players are likely to get some significant upgrades here, allowing them to delve deep into the raids by week 2.
Note that there is a weekly ID for each mythic dungeon in the first week, which means you can only loot once per week and dungeon. Once the season starts next week, this ID will change to a daily rhythm – but by then, most players will already be playing Mythic+.
Unlock Depths
At the start of a new season, you must prove once again that you have access to the hardest depths. Therefore, you need to replay the previous ranks – starting at level 4 – to unlock the upper levels of the depths again. For well-equipped characters, this should be no problem, allowing you to unlock all levels again within an hour at the latest.
However, note that rich depths – i.e., those with strong gear as rewards – will only be unlocked with the start of season 2 next Wednesday. This is simply about opening the highest levels, so that in week 2 you can immediately start with the 11-depth runs.
What else should you do? Besides these 3 major tasks, you can also take care of some optional little things that might still be pending:
- Catch up on Omnium Folio: If you are a returnee or just starting with Midnight, you should urgently focus on the Omnium Folio and catch up on its unlock. This is a permanent enhancement that will be active for the remainder of Midnight. It will be considered a must for most group activities.
- Visit the Boss Hoard: If your gear still has gaps, definitely check out the new hoard of the world boss on the Twisted Isle. In the first week, only the world difficulty is available (normal, heroic, and mythic will follow in week 2). However, the boss is easy to defeat even with a few people and drops solid loot that you shouldn’t miss.
- Complete Loot Hunts on “hard”: In the first week, there are also new loot hunts that can only be completed up to the “hard” difficulty. However, this might still be worthwhile to collect some tokens or snag some veteran items. So if you’ve gone through all the new content, check out the loot hunts at Astalor.
