The legendary Troll raids in World of Warcraft are returning. With Patch 12.1, we will learn what Zul’jan is really up to.
Hardly anything in World of Warcraft is as enduring a constant as trolls as adversaries. They have been there in Classic, in The Burning Crusade, in Wrath of the Lich King, in Mists of Pandaria, and as part of the faction war in Battle for Azeroth.
However, since then, troll content has been somewhat scarce. Especially the popular troll raids have not appeared since then. But with Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek, that will change. A new raid awaits with 8 bosses, where trolls once again play an important role.
Zul’jan unleashes Ula’tek – a nasty snake
What’s this raid about? The story of the two siblings Zul’jarra and Zul’jan continues. While Zul’jarra has once again allied with the Loa, Zul’jan does not want to repeat the mistakes of the past and does not want to ally with the Loa again. He is therefore looking for a new source of power – a weapon that can help the Amani be independent of the Loa.
He travels to the island east of Zul’aman, which has so far been shrouded in mist. On this island, an old, vile creature is imprisoned – Ula’tek. This being with 5 heads spews poison and corruption. So much poison that the entire environment is affected by it.
Because Zul’jan is hasty, Ula’tek is unleashed – and it is up to the heroes of Azeroth (and some Amani) to keep Ula’tek in check and to ensure that not all of Zul’aman and then the Immersang Forest is destroyed by this poison.
How big is the raid? The raid “Toxic Abyss” will consist of a total of 8 bosses, and Ula’tek will be the final threat. Thus, the raid is finally a “complete tier” again and will surely be accompanied by an exciting “World First Race”, where the professionals will once again compete to defeat Ula’tek first on mythic difficulty.
Troll raids have a tradition in WoW: Troll raids have always been one of the big highlights of World of Warcraft in the past. Not surprisingly, after all, trolls are one of the oldest races of Warcraft and are found all over Azeroth. However, the raid dungeons of the trolls have been fondly remembered by many:
- Zul’Gurub was a legendary raid that also caused the notorious plague incident.
- Zul’Aman told the story of the Amani and Zul’jin – and how the trolls exploited the Loa.
- In Mists of Pandaria, the Throne of Thunder was a half troll raid – here the Zandalari made a pact with the Mogu.
The Battle for Dazar’alor was the fall of the Zandalari Empire and told an exciting story – different for Horde and Alliance.
Additionally, there were always temporary foes, such as the Drakkari in Wrath of the Lich King. Trolls are simply indispensable in World of Warcraft.
Are you looking forward to a new troll raid in World of Warcraft? Or are you already tired of the trolls after the Zul’Aman area? Do you think it is good that there is also a raid away from the Void and far from Xal’atath and this main story?
