The patch cycle for World of Warcraft is being carried out ruthlessly. In two weeks, the patch will launch and brings many new contents.
World of Warcraft has an aggressive patch policy, where there have been hardly any breaks in recent years. A new content patch is released every 8 weeks. After Midnight has already received several small updates, the first major patch is on the way: Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek. Finally, there is a release date, and we know when and how the content will be released.
When does Patch 12.1 release? Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek will be available on August 12, 2026, in Europe. As usual, the patch goes live a day earlier, on August 11, 2026, in the USA.
This is due to the time difference and the different times for server maintenance. Although we get the content a few hours later, often the first major bugs have already been fixed by the time the update goes live for us.
What’s included in Patch 12.1? Overall, the patch offers a wealth of new content that “usually” accompanies a new content patch of this magnitude. The highlights are:
- Toxic Abyss: The new raid deals with the story of Ula’tek, an ancient beast that was summoned by the Amani to defeat a powerful foe. However, with the awakening of this creature, other evils have also regained power, threatening to escape from the temple and spread the serpent’s corrosive poison across the world.
- New Story Quests: The story of Midnight continues in the new area of the Twisted Isle. Zul’jan is about to unleash an ancient weapon of the Amani and defy his sister’s instructions. The danger he brings back from ancient times is one of the most powerful beings ever to walk Azeroth.
- Altar of Fangs: A new dungeon accompanies the story of the Twisted Isle, enticing with new bosses, fresh loot, and challenging encounters during the 2nd season of Midnight in Mythic+.
