Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and choose the right faction / server
In Aion 2, the two opposing factions Elyos and Asmodians are quite strictly separated. If you want to play with your friends, you should agree on a faction and a server beforehand. Later faction changes or server transfers are (for now?) not possible.
Also, note that the two factions have certain peculiarities and characteristics. We’ve summarized more about that in a separate article:
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and don’t sell everything that doesn’t immediately benefit you
This is especially important regarding Aion 2’s enhancement system. Upgrading gear and weapons is a core part of character progression. While it can be annoying when green or blue upgrade fragments clutter your inventory, you will need large amounts of them.
Since upgrades become increasingly expensive and the chance of failures rises with higher levels, it’s better to increase several items by one level than to enhance one item by several levels at the beginning. The major exceptions are upgrading your belt and your Revelation amulet, as you will not be able to exchange them after their maximum upgrade – and they directly impact your character’s strength.
When you receive a gear upgrade, you can extract the exchanged part to recover the enhancement materials invested in it.
WARNING: Before automated extraction, check your settings and filters. If you accidentally destroy a very valuable or strong equipment piece, you won’t get it back.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and don’t focus solely on efficient experience hunting during the leveling phase
If you want to quickly reach the maximum level of 45 in Aion 2, play the main quest line. But this alone will not get you there. You also need to engage in other contents to meet certain minimum requirements for further progress.
However, don’t just focus on content that gives you the most experience. At level 45, you should also have a specific item level (1,000) and a sufficiently high combat power to master the finale of the story and the first endgame contents.
Important gear upgrades can be obtained, for example, through (green) side quests. Additionally, regularly complete Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, as these reward you with progress in the important Daevanion talent system (thus strengthening your hero). You can learn more about this here:
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and don’t rush into the Shugo Festival too early
The Shugo Festival in Aion 2 provides you with a selection of mini-games every hour, through which you can earn useful rewards (depending on your performance). Sometimes you’ll master jumping challenges, other times you’ll participate in a race, protect merchants from waves of opponents, or play hide and seek.
Theoretically, you can participate in these mini-games even at a low character level. However, you should definitely not do this or only do it in moderation.
The rewards are based on your level. Additionally, you need to use a key for each reward, of which you only possess a limited amount, and they only recharge in a specified time frame (recharge after 10 hours, only once per day).
In other words: The more keys you have available when reaching maximum level 45, the better.
The mini-game “Not This Tile?” is reportedly the most reliable for granting the maximum rewards. In this challenge for up to 6 players, you are to remember color-coded squares and reveal them afterward. It only takes one participant who understands the mini-game, and all others can simply follow them.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and choose the right dailies
Aion 2 overwhelms you with a variety of so-called Duty Quests, but you may only complete a small selection daily. The tasks differ not only in their nature (for example: defeat a specific enemy, obtain a specified item), but also in their rewards.
If you ignore the daily quests or pick the wrong tasks, you will quickly miss out on rewards that can be particularly valuable for starting in Aion 2. Here are our recommendations:
- Choose Duty Quests that can reward you with one of the limited “Key: Hidden Cube (Bound)”. These can be used to open hidden cubes in the world, providing you with a whole cornucopia of useful items – including pets, new wings, or special skins if you’re lucky.
- Additionally, quests that can reward you with “Fragment: Ariel’s Trace (Bound)” are important. These can be used to create Daevanion Crystals, allowing you to advance your character progression on the Daevanion talent board or earn a lot of Kinah in the auction house.
Important: Depending on the quest, the percentage chances for receiving respective random rewards differ. The further left a reward appears in the overview, the higher the chance. You can also view the exact value with another click. Thus, prioritize quests with the highest percentage chances for keys and fragments.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and choose the right weeklies
In Aion 2, there are weekly tasks that you should incorporate into your regular gameplay:
- Visit the Command vendor and their Command shop in your faction’s capital to buy the available scrolls weekly.
- In the Abyss, you will find comparable Command vendors with their own scrolls, available in several variants. Important: The rewards do not differ! You can farm fragments and keys just as well with the cheaper, grey scrolls as with the more expensive versions.
The scrolls provide you with one task each and a mix of base rewards and random rewards. Again, at the beginning of your journey, you should look for keys and fragments. If these are missing from the random rewards, it’s worth investing in re-rolling the rewards.
On the Korean servers, players apparently managed to quickly earn a fortune by selling Azphel Fragment crystals from the Abyss weekly.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and do the right daily dungeons
In Aion 2, three different daily dungeons await you upon the global release, which you can farm a limited number of times each week. The 3 dungeons lure with different rewards depending on your rating:
- Daeva Bio-Research Base: rewards with enhancement stones for upgrading weapons and armor
- Odylium Repository: rewards with pet fragments for summoning and upgrading companions
- Crobakhi’s Secret Depository: rewards with Kinah
As important as Kinah is in Aion 2 and how great it is to improve your companions significantly: Focus entirely on the first variant of daily dungeons at the beginning! On one hand, because enhancing your gear has the best impact on your item level and combat power. On the other hand, you will need an incredible amount of enhancement stones.
While you also spend a lot of Kinah, you can also farm the in-game currency well through alternative means, such as in the Abyss. Change your priority only when you feel you have enough enhancement stones.

Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and do not attempt the Ascension Trial too early
Once you have reached maximum level 45 and an item level of 1,000 or higher in Aion 2, you can theoretically attempt the Ascension Trial called Forgotten Repository for the first time. This is a solo trial where you must face waves of enemies and bosses within a certain time.
However, attempts are limited each week. If you quickly get through the leveling phase and have a few days until the weekly reset, it’s more beneficial to aim for the next item level milestone of 1,500. With this, you can immediately start the Ascension Trial on normal difficulty and earn much better rewards.
This changes if you reach maximum level and item level 1,000 just before the weekly reset. Then it is better to master the Forgotten Repository on easy rather than not doing it at all and wasting a reward round.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and visit the Abyss even if you’re not a PvP fan
If you’ve read our Aion 2 Equipment Guide, you already know: The Abyss points you can earn in the Abyss are essential for efficiently bringing your item level to the next important threshold at a certain point.
The good news: You do not need to participate in PvP battles in the Abyss to earn Abyss points for buying accessories or a new weapon. You can earn Abyss points through supply quests or by defeating PvE enemies in the Abyss. Some daily or weekly quests that do not lead you into the Abyss can also reward you with Abyss points. Take advantage of that!
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and do not confuse item level and combat power
Aion 2 differentiates between item level (Gear Score) and combat power. Your item level reflects the strength of your currently equipped gear (armor pieces, weapons, accessories plus upgrades and socketed stones). You need a minimum item level to be able to play certain contents.
However, your combat power is even more important. This arises not only from your equipment but also from systems like the Daevanion talent board, unlocks in the Pantheon, your collection of Arcana cards, the levels of your skills and stigma socket stones, and special bonuses and effects from titles or your wings. Moreover, the evaluation depends on your intended role and whether your build fits that role.
In the Korean community, combat power has therefore established itself as the most crucial value when it comes to joining an ambitious group or guild.
Avoid this mistake in Aion 2 and activate effects for your skills
In Aion 2, you can enhance your active skills and unlock several slots as well as a selection of effects that are initially locked. What can be easily overlooked in the MMORPG interface is that merely unlocking these does not suffice to benefit from the bonuses available as time progresses.
Instead, you need to assign one of the possible effects to each unlocked specialty slot in your skill overview. Only when the slots are filled according to your choice do the assigned effects take effect. Apparently, many players in Korea have reached max level 45 without assigning any of these useful effects.
