Some monsters can grow particularly dear to you in Pokémon GO. A trainer realizes this while facing a drastic decision – but the community comes to the rescue.
In Pokémon GO, you can have monsters in your box over time that have been with you for years. It’s no surprise that you develop a bond with them.
A trainer on Reddit has a Pokémon as a buddy that has accompanied him since the beginning of his journey in Pokémon GO. Now he has to make a decision that is not easy for him – if it weren’t for the community, which offers both good advice and some criticism.
“This poor Charizard is being neglected”
What kind of decision is this? As the trainer reports in his post on Reddit, he has had his Charizard as a buddy Pokémon since signing up 2,365 days ago. So the monster has been with him since day one in Pokémon GO.
Now, in the course of a special research task, he needs to complete the task “Choose or Swap a buddy Pokémon”. And that’s exactly where the problem lies: He does not want to swap his Charizard and fears he would lose the stat of 2,365 days. But fortunately, there is a clever community.
What does the community suggest? Attentive trainers have the right tip for the author of the post. User electriq_ points out that he can swap his Charizard for the task and then switch back immediately. Additionally, User Alice_Phantom mentions that he doesn’t need to worry at all: “This is not a series, but a cumulative number. The number remains, even if you swap. You can literally switch back right after.”
So the trainer can easily swap his Charizard, complete the special research, and then choose his Charizard again – without it affecting his stats.
What else does the community remark? Aside from this tip, there is one more thing some trainers in the community have noticed that doesn’t exactly cast the trainer in a good light. Even though his Charizard has been with him for so many years, it has only collected 2 out of 4 hearts.
This suggests that he hasn’t been taking particularly good care of his Charizard or interacting with it, or feeding it.
In line with this, several trainers write under the post:
- “2365 days, but you’re only at super buddy? Don’t you feed him? Poor guy,” writes takisara
- “He doesn’t feed him and doesn’t play with him either… this poor Charizard is being neglected,” comments Dark_Romantasy
- “I imagine how it curls up on a rock in the rain and holds a leaf over its tail flame,” speculates sdrawkcabstiho
- “Why do you only have two full hearts? You’ve been carrying a lifeless Charizard around for six years,” says PlainLikeJane
- “Give this Charizard to Professor Willow. It deserves a better life than you can offer,” writes gorlab
