The next Hatch Day is in Pokémon GO. And it brings you an increased Shiny chance.
When does the event take place? The Fire-and-Ice Hatch Day takes place on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this time, everything revolves around hatching eggs.
The event comes with appropriate bonuses – including an increased Shiny chance. If you want to take advantage of it, you will have to cover a lot of distance and hatch eggs.

Which monsters are in the eggs? During the event, you can hatch Magby and Lickitung from 2km eggs. Both monsters have an increased chance to appear as Shiny.
Additionally, you can hatch Ember from 5km eggs. While the monster can also be Shiny, it does not have an increased chance during the event.
What bonuses are available during the event? The following bonuses are active on Hatch Day:
- double amount of hatching candies (not combinable with bonuses from the GO-Pass)
- halved distance for hatching eggs (not combinable with bonuses from the GO-Pass)
- increased chance to obtain 2km eggs from PokéStops
- increased chance of Shiny Magby and Lickitung
What does the limited research involve? During the 6 hours of Hatch Day, you also have the opportunity to complete a free limited research. Here, you only need to hatch one egg to receive 5,000 experience points and an incubator as a reward.
How can I prepare for the event? If you want to maximize your chance of getting Shiny monsters, you should try to hatch as many eggs as possible before the event. Afterwards, you should avoid spinning PokéStops or opening gifts to prevent receiving new eggs.
Once the event starts, you can spin PokéStops again to acquire as many 2km eggs as possible. If you also have enough incubators, you can now try to hatch all the eggs. With the distance bonus from the event, this can be done quite quickly, as you only need to walk one kilometer for 2km eggs.
