The Guardians of the Galaxy were known in the MCU primarily for their humor, but they could also convince on an emotional level. Nevertheless, it was quite surprising how emotional the third part of the series would be, especially since the focus this time is on Rocket Raccoon.
The sad scenes work because we have come to know the team so well, and the chemistry has been present since part 1. The High Evolutionary fits very well as a villain here, as he does not want to conquer everything like Thanos, yet is even more hated for his actions. The Guardians of the Galaxy are the friendliest team in the MCU because they are all there for each other, because they simply love each other, and this is made clear in this film.
Apart from the emotional scenes, the film also has some really good action sequences, especially the beautiful team fight in the hallway, from which James Gunn pulls out all the stops. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would have even made it higher on this list if Chris Pratt didn’t constantly seem like he didn’t want to be in the film.
