Kraken are ancient war machines of the gods that slumber in the deepest oceans until their time comes to dominate the world. With enormous tentacles, they crush ships and towers while unleashing storms to strike their enemies with lightning. Once created by gods to wage forgotten wars, most remain in the sea until summoned again.
Some still serve divine powers, while others pursue their own goals in the unfathomable depths. When a kraken rises to the surface, it heralds change and destruction, attacking cities or fleets and only relenting when its fury is quelled.
With a maximum strength score of 30, they are among the monsters with which one should avoid direct confrontation if unsure of what one is getting into. They bring +10 on their skill checks and +17 on their saving throws in that attribute.
With a CR of 23, your group should definitely be at level 20 or consist of several higher-level players. However, as they are less threatening outside the oceans, they rank one place behind the opponents in 4th place.
