We look back at the past 10 years, specifically from 2025 to 2016, and select the best action anime for each corresponding year. Our basis for this includes ratings from various portals, such as IMDb, MyAnimeList, the annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, but also our personal assessment.
Movies or sequels, such as a second or third season of an already ongoing series, are explicitly not included in this list. We want to recommend only series that you can jump into directly without much prior knowledge.

What is Sakamoto Days about? Tarou Sakamoto was once the most dangerous bounty hunter in the world. Brutal, ruthless, and efficient. Among other assassins, he is considered a living legend who could execute every job perfectly.
That was at least the case until Sakamoto fell in love. Now he is married and works as a husband and family man in a small shop. But this idyllic life doesn’t last long, as other assassins are on his trail since a bounty has been placed on him. However, Sakamoto still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve to protect his family…
