Aion 2 features the typical item level spiral of many theme park MMORPGs. In this guide, we will reveal where and how to obtain the best possible equipment for PvE.
What do I need to know about gear in Aion 2? When you acquire or craft new equipment, or make upgrades in Aion 2, it affects your character’s strength. Additionally, over time, you will also meet the requirements for certain endgame content.
Aion 2 distinguishes between item level (Gear Score) and Combat Power:
- Item level: Represents the strength of your currently equipped gear (armor pieces, weapons, accessories plus upgrades and socketed stones). To play certain content, you must meet a certain minimum item level.
- Combat Power: Reflects your hero’s actual combat strength, as factors like your progress in the Daevanion talent system, unlocks in the Pantheon, your collection of Arcana cards, the levels of your skills, stigma socket stones, and the special bonuses and effects of titles or your wings are also taken into account. When players seek allies for challenging content, they often require a specific Combat Power value that must be met.
Characters who have just reached level 45 can have an item level of about 1,000 and a Combat Power of over 46,000.
Item Level in Aion 2: The Key Milestones
Are there item level milestones I should be aware of? Yes, there are. The item level progression in Aion 2 can be roughly divided into the following phases:
- Phase 1: up to maximum level 45 and item level 1,000 (level phase)
- Focus on optional side quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds outside of the main quest to increase your item level and Combat Power. Only when you reach item level 1,000 can you complete the story and plunge into the first endgame dungeons Krao Cave and Draupnir.
- Phase 2: item level 1,000 to 1,300 (the start of endgame)
- Visit the first endgame dungeons for solos and groups, master all remaining Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons, collect feathers in the game world, and complete the remaining regional quests.
- Phase 3: item level 1,300 to 1,600
- The mini-games of the Shugo Festival and rift events expand the dungeon rounds. Additionally, complete daily quests if you have the time.
- Phase 4: item level 1,600 to 1,700
- Prioritize Abyss visits from now on to earn Abyss points.
- Phase 5: item level 1,700 to 1,800
- Now try your hand at the time-critical Transcendence dungeons for 5-player groups and build up a collection of Arcana cards.
- Phase 6: item level 1,800 to 2,200
- Now it’s worth exploring the Vakron Sky Island.
- Phase 7: item level 2,200 and above
- Welcome to the toughest content of Aion 2!
Everything revolves around the best genre in the world on the YouTube channel of MeinMMO. Recently, a video was released there, where we look at the upcoming West release of Aion 2:
How do I quickly get to item level 1,300? Focus initially on your progress in the Daevanion talent system (especially through Sealed Dungeons and regional quests) and upgrading your belt (through Strongholds). Also, collect feathers in the world to upgrade your Revelation Amulet.
Also, don’t forget the rune system and your Pantheon. As soon as you receive good Clash runes through the regional quests, it’s worth upgrading them to level 1 early on. You shouldn’t go much higher at first, as they can easily break.
You can improve your Pantheon with statues, monuments, picture frames, and artifacts. Unlocks in the Pantheon are earned through open world content, dungeons, raids, PvP, crafting, achievements, quests, and more. If you’re stuck, upgrade some of your equipment pieces.
How do I quickly get to item level 1,600? Expand the current endgame loop by visiting the Shugo Festival, participating in Rift events, and completing daily quests/dungeons. Through the rifts, you then access areas where new Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons await, which you can pursue.
Also, from now on, occasionally visit Nightmare Dungeons so that the associated tickets do not go unused. Complete all levels sequentially each week to gather as many points as possible for the Daevanion talent system.
Tip for item level 1,500: You will now unlock the normal difficulty of the Ascension Trial in the Forgotten Repository. This is much more worthwhile than the easy version for item level 1,000. Therefore, avoid visiting the Trials too early when there is still enough time until the next weekly reset.
If you are only a few item levels short of 1,600, further item upgrades are worthwhile, especially for your two arm rings, for which you will not receive upgrades for a while in this progression phase.
How do I quickly get to item level 1,700? It is particularly efficient to farm PvE mobs in the Abyss and complete associated daily quests to earn Abyss points and invest these in better accessories (rings, earrings, necklaces). An upgrade of your weapon can also be worthwhile.
How do I quickly get to item level 1,800? Earn your first green set of Arcana cards through the Transcendence Dungeons (each simple card is worth 20 item level, and the green ones even 40 item level). Through upgrades of the cards, the item level can be increased even further.
It’s best to inform yourself beforehand about the dungeon requirements, since you need to complete them within a certain time. And only if you achieve a sufficiently high rating will you unlock the next level. Depending on your success in the Transcendence Dungeons, you can even reach an item level of 1,900 or even 2,000 here.
How do I quickly get to item level 2,200? With the Arcana cards from the Transcendence Dungeons in hand, it’s worth exploring the Vakron Sky Island to obtain significant equipment upgrades and bring them to level 10.
In this way, you should efficiently reach item level 2,200, especially if you have saved up many Cube Reward points by now (needed for the chance at important rewards from expeditions).
How do I quickly get to item level 2,400? Bring your Arcana cards to the next level (blue). To do this, you need to farm Stage 6 of the Transcendence Dungeons. After that, the crafting of your unique Arcana should be the focus of your efforts.
At item level 2,200, you can also attempt the Dungeon Fire Temple at its highest level to obtain better equipment (especially the weapons from there are now interesting). An alternative dungeon we can recommend at this level is Ferocious Horn Den, where you can close some equipment gaps.
Then refine your equipment through upgrades, optimal sockets, and the optimization of ineffective random values.
How important is it to get the best possible gear in Aion 2? You definitely do not need the best-in-slot gear available at launch to play the PvE endgame content of Aion 2.
Players like Kanon, who have spent nearly 1,000 hours in the Korean version of Aion 2, report that the difficulty of the MMORPG is relatively low, and that one can build a powerful hero through the many progression systems, allowing them to breeze through many contents in a power fantasy over time.
What is important is to meet the minimum requirements through item level and to utilize the various levers to achieve at least a sufficiently high combat power with relatively little effort. Only when you’re keen on S-ranks, top damage placements, and time records do you need to maximize the many systems of Aion 2.
