What do I need to know about gear in Aion 2?
When you obtain or craft new gear in Aion 2 or upgrade your existing gear, it affects your character’s strength. Additionally, over time, you will also meet the requirements of certain endgame content.
Aion 2 distinguishes between item level (Gear Score) and combat power:
- Item level: Reflects the strength of your currently equipped gear (armor pieces, weapons, accessories plus upgrades and socketed stones). To play certain content, you must meet a minimum item level.
- Combat Power: Reflects the actual combat power of your hero, as it also includes factors such as your progress in the Daevanion talent system, unlocks in the Pantheon, your collection of Arkana cards, the levels of your skills and stigma stones, as well as the special bonuses and effects from titles or your wings. When players seek companions for a challenging content, they sometimes require a certain combat power value that you must have at least reached.
Characters who have just reached level 45, for example, can have an item level of about 1,000 and a combat power of over 46,000.
Aion 2: Item Level – The Most Important Milestones at a Glance
Are there item level milestones I should keep an eye on? Yes, there are. The item level progression in Aion 2 can be roughly divided into the following phases:
- Phase 1: Up to maximum level 45 and item level 1,000 (level phase)
- Focus on side quests, sealed dungeons, and garrisons outside the main questline to increase your item level and combat power. Only when you reach item level 1,000 can you complete the story (for which you need to visit the Abyss among other things). Also, do your 5 daily quests each day.
- Phase 2: Item level 1,000 to 1,400 (the start into endgame)
- Master all other garrisons and sealed dungeons, collect the feathers in the game world, and complete the remaining regional quests. You can also tackle the first endgame dungeons for solo players and groups (Expedition, Daily Dungeons). The expedition dungeons are most efficient from item level 1,400 onwards. The mini-games of the Shugo Festival and invasion events extend the dungeon rounds.
- Phase 3: Item level 1,400 to 1,600
- Farm the Expedition Dungeon Vakron’s Air Island. At the end of each ID, conduct your nightmare and ascension ritual runs.
- Phase 4: Item level 1,600 to 1,700
- From now on, you can enter the first level of the Transcendence Dungeons. They are still quite challenging at item level 1,600. Increase your item level by farming all the feathers for the monolith in the Abyss. Fill in additional gear gaps through the dungeons. How do I quickly reach item level 1,400?
Initially, focus on progress in the Daevanion talent system (specifically through sealed dungeons and regional quests) and upgrading your belt (through garrisons). Also, collect feathers in the world to upgrade your Revelation Amulet.
Also, don’t forget the rune system and your Pantheon. As soon as you receive good clash runes through the regional quests, it’s worth upgrading them early to level 1. You shouldn’t go much higher initially, as they can easily break.
Enhance the endgame loop by visiting the Shugo Festival, participating in Rift events, and daily quests/dungeons. Through the rifts, you can then access areas where new garrisons and sealed dungeons await you.
Your Pantheon is improved with statues, monuments, frames, and artifacts. Unlocks in the Pantheon are achieved through open-world content, dungeons, raids, PvP, crafting, achievements, quests, and more. If you hit a wall, upgrade some of your gear pieces.
How do I quickly reach item level 1,600?
Farm the Expedition Dungeon Vakron’s Air Island. From now on, visit the nightmare bosses at the end of each ID so that the associated tickets don’t go unused while you progress as far as possible. The same goes for the ascension ritual: The better equipped you are, the better your time.
Tip for item level 1,500: You now unlock the normal difficulty of the ascension ritual in the Altar of Nightmares. It’s much more worthwhile than the easy variant for item level 1,000. Avoid an early visit to the trial when there’s still plenty of time until the next weekly reset.
If you are just a few item levels away from 1,600, further item upgrades are worth it, especially for your two arm rings, for which you won’t receive upgrades for a while during this progression phase.
How do I quickly reach item level 1,700?
Continue to increase your item level by farming all the feathers for the monolith in the Abyss. Fill in additional equipment gaps through the dungeons. Purchase Daevanion crystals in various shops for further item levels.
How do I quickly reach item level 2,100?
Earn an initial green set of Arkana cards through the Transcendence Dungeons (each basic card is worth 20 item levels, while the green ones are worth 40 item levels each). Upgrading the cards can further increase your item level.
It’s best to inform yourself beforehand about the requirements of the dungeons, as you must complete them within a certain time. And only if you achieve a sufficiently high rating will you unlock the next level. Depending on your success in the Transcendence Dungeons, you could even achieve an item level of 1,900 or even 2,000 here.
With the Arkana cards from the Transcendence Dungeons in hand, it’s worth disturbing the higher-level dungeons to obtain significant equipment upgrades and bring them to level 10. This way, you should efficiently reach item level 2,100.
How important is it in Aion 2 to get the best possible gear?
You definitely do not need the Best-in-Slot gear available at launch to be able to play the PvE endgame content of Aion 2.
